Central Kalahari – Drama of the Central Kalahari
What’s your dream safari spot? Perhaps a place where lion prides roam across the plains? Maybe a place where you can watch an elephant spraying water over its back? Or perhaps it is where you can witness a leopard or cheetah out on a hunt? Everyone starts a safari adventure with images in their head. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve seems to take all these preconceptions and roll them into a dazzling package. Fly into Maun and then transfer to a light aircraft that drops you in the heart of the world’s second largest reserve. Then set off on a game drive and watch the dreamlike scenes come thick and fast. Majestic black-maned lions patrol the scorched ground and their echoing calls provide the evening soundtrack. Cheetahs and leopards emerge in the late afternoon, hunting in the insipid light and preying on the young and sick. Elephants add dramatic size and power, while the antelopes add a continual source of enchantment. And this is just the start of your camping adventure.

We loved working with Zicasso’s travel company. We were impressed by their firsthand experience. They did a wonderful job on our entire trip. Beautiful hotels, great camps, awesome guides - everything was so well planned, seamless from start to finish! We had a fantastic time and highly recommend them!!
In Botswana, we stayed at a camp in the Okavango Delta - a beautiful camp - everything first-rate - wonderful staff - just loved it!! Our second camp was in Linyanti. We liked that both the camps were just a few rooms. This camp was also very nice! The animal experiences were terrific at both camps. Nice service, great food and lots of it, as you get a lot of snacks throughout the day!
We had gorgeous hotels in Johannesburg, Victoria Falls, and Cape Town. Most of the tours were small-group for the four of us, which made it even better to not be in a big group.
In Cape Town, we enjoyed the peninsula, city area, and the wine country. We also enjoyed the Hermanus region.

Amazing trip. As first-timers to Africa, planning can be overwhelming. Zicasso’s travel specialist listened, helped us navigate our choices, and delivered a perfect itinerary. From Cape Town to Victoria Falls in Zambia and then Botswana, everything was well planned.
There were many transfers without any issues. I would highly recommend the travel company.

We’re still not over our trip! Everything was absolutely fantastic. Thank you for organizing such a great experience and making it so effortless for me. I already have family and friends asking who I went through, and I’m guessing some of them will be reaching out to you in the next year.
I do have one small piece of constructive feedback about our camp in the Olifants West Nature Reserve. The staff, lodge, and food were wonderful, but unfortunately, the safari guide fell short. We had just come from the camp in the Thornybush Game Reserve (where we left our hearts—the guide there was truly exceptional, with such a great personality), so the difference stood out even more. At the Olifants West Nature Reserve camp, we saw very few animals and the guide didn’t engage much—he barely spoke, and when he did, it wasn’t very professional or kind, especially toward my son. My son even said the trip might have worked better in reverse, since after Botswana it was hard to adjust to seeing only a few animals a day.
That said, I’m so grateful for how smoothly you planned everything, especially on such short notice. It really was a trip of a lifetime for us.
Thank you again!

Our trip was a 5 out of 5 and I would gladly recommend Zicasso’s tour operator and our travel designer to anyone who is planning a trip to Africa. We loved all of our accommodations, which included 3 camps as well as our accommodation in Cape Town.
All of the people we encountered throughout our 2 weeks took care of our every need in such a thoughtful way. The safaris themselves were spectacular, and our guides were super-knowledgeable and fun to spend time with. Food at all of our stays was excellent. And the logistics for the entire trip were seamless!

We had a fantastic time. The travel company thought of everything and guided us through what could have been a complicated trip. We appreciated that we were met at every airport by drivers and guides. Our accommodations were beyond our expectations.
Our travel specialist really took into account what we told him to make sure our needs and our budget were met. His Zoom calls were so helpful with the planning. We stayed at three different bush camps and each was unique in its own way, giving us a wide variety of experiences and many wonderful animals to observe and photograph.
I have already mentioned our travel specialist to a couple of friends, suggesting that if they are planning a trip to Africa, he is their man. Thank you, Zicasso, for recommending the travel company.
