My trip, overall, was fantastic. I loved Japan and all its offerings. Of my scheduled tours by the Zicasso tour company, four were wonderful and two in Tokyo were okay.
On May 19, a tour guide arrived at my hotel for a tour that was paid for, but not shown on my itinerary.
The company that was supposed to pick me up at the airport in Tokyo went to the wrong airport, so I took a taxi to the hotel.
The hotel in Kyoto was disappointing. It was also the only stop where I had four days. It was quite dated and not consistent with the other accommodations, especially coming from Hakone, where the hotel was so wonderful.
I was not scheduled to take the bullet train, which I would have liked to experience.
I felt very pressured to pay for the trip and thereafter communication was vague and stressful on final details.
In the end, I enjoyed all my destinations and planned activities.

Zicasso's travel partner planned an exceptional trip to Japan for my family of five. It was our first trip there and our group's ages ranged from 30 to 72. A great time was had by all and the tour guides, hotels, and itinerary were spot on each step of the way. I couldn't have asked for a better trip. Communication throughout the trip was great and we made adjustments along the way to suit our interests. We were so happy with everything!

We could not have been happier with our trip to Japan. Our travel agent was a pleasure to work with. It was obvious he listened to our wants and needs, and communicated the information to our guides, hotels, etc. He was patient and communicative, and paid a high level of attention to all the little details. This trip was originally scheduled for March 2020, then Covid hit. The travel agent offered to refund part of the money we had paid or leave it as a credit to be used within the year. Japan took several years to reopen and I hesitated to contact him to see if we had any credit we could use. We were thrilled to find out we could still use all of our credit.
My husband has Parkinson's Disease. Although he is fully mobile, it's become harder for us to travel on our own. Having all the little details so well taken care of took all of the stress out of the trip. Our guides were wonderful, our connections were seamless, and our accommodations were excellent. The guides and drivers were all aware of my husband's issues and were helpful and caring, holding his elbow as he went up and down stairs, and arranging for the use of handicapped elevators when there were too many steps to climb.
The trains in Japan are very efficient and virtually always on time. Our guides delivered us right to our seats and, when we arrived, were at the exact door we exited from. Because of an accident on the train line, one of our trains was delayed two hours. Without a guide, we would have had no idea what was going on. Our guide found out what the problem was, negotiated seats for us in the waiting room, and called ahead to the next guide so they could reschedule our car and ferry.

Everything was perfect and perfectly arranged.
We just returned from our trip to Japan. The Zicasso tour company listened and provided a customized trip to satisfy each and every one of our requests!
Without carefully selected, excellent drivers and wonderful tour guides, this trip would have been incomplete. Each tour guide was so knowledgeable and fun, adding so much value to each of the cities. We did many things, from seeing numerous unbelievably beautiful temples and shrines to hikes to the top of mountains, experiencing all Tokyo had to offer, seeing the bowing deer of Nara, having dinner with geishas, watching a sumo tournament, enjoying a tea ceremony, zen practice, and kabuki performance, and so much more.
Apart from all the tourist-majority places, we also enjoyed the countryside of Japan. We stayed with a family on a rice farm, had an overnight in a temple with monks, and enjoyed a bamboo forest, karate, and samurai training.
The hotels selected were fabulous, allowing us direct access to our perfectly arranged days, relaxation in an onsen, in-room massages, and Japanese yoga, all with beautiful views in pure luxury!
We would recommend this company to anyone visiting Japan.

As first-time travelers to Southeast Asia, we wanted a travel company that would tailor a trip to our wishes, provide seamlessness as we moved among the countries, and be responsive to daily changes that might occur. Zicasso's travel operator was all that and more.
From the extremely helpful pre-trip consult to the back and forth regarding various possibilities, the proactive recommendations based upon deep experience in the areas, the carefully selected guides and drivers, and handling little wrinkles as they occurred, our travel agent and his team were absolutely tops.
We loved each stop and, as a result, have become promoters of visiting such a fascinating and welcoming part of our world.

We had a great trip to Japan, thanks largely to the helpful planning and suggestions of our travel agent and tour guides from the Zicasso travel company. Japan is a beautiful and unique country with so much to do, see, and navigate. Our tour company's assistance made everything so much easier and smoother. They also did a wonderful job of meeting our wants and needs on the trip; we specified that we wanted to see as much as we could while still having enough free time to rest and explore on our own, and our itinerary was wonderfully designed for this.

Our travel agent at Zicasso’s tour company was top-notch! The extraordinary trip itinerary developed by him was exactly what we dreamed about. We visited Tokyo, Hiroshima, Miyajima Island, Okayama City, Shodoshima, Osaka, Arima Onsen Village, and Kyoto in a whirlwind two weeks.
After taking a 40-person group tour in Japan years ago, we opted for private guides this time and it was wonderful. The guides were knowledgeable, caring, spoke English, and best of all, were flexible about the daily schedule. Our agent worked out a balanced itinerary with mostly busy days, but also a few free, more relaxing days.
The “green” train tickets were purchased in advance, so we didn’t have to deal with the ticket machines – we just showed up at the train station on the right platform at the right time!
Our agent worked with us to tailor the trip. We had not been to Hiroshima or Miyajima on our prior trip and wanted to see particular sights in Kyoto, visit Shodoshima Island, and stay in a ryokan, which was a luxurious treat! He was very responsive, as we talked over the phone once and emailed back and forth to fine-tune the itinerary.
Over the years, we’ve learned it’s best to use a travel agent located in the country, and that’s one of the reasons we favor Zicasso. Our agent has lived in Kyoto for 20+ years and knows Japan, but he is originally from New Zealand, so English is his native language. It was so nice to meet him in person – he took us through Toji Temple in Kyoto.
The entire two-week trip went off without a hitch! All the tour guides and assistants were there to meet us at the specified times and the cherry blossoms even delayed their appearance to greet us. We highly recommend Zicasso’s travel company. You will be in good hands.

We had a good relationship with our Zicasso travel agent, who helped to organize our dream trip to Japan. The trip itself was lovely. The accommodations were top-notch and our agent created a customized itinerary that accommodated our special requests to attend a baseball game, overnight at a Zen monastery, and visit a tea farm.
The only downside was that once we were in Japan, our main contact ended up being another outfit, one that organizes tours for countless tourists each year. As a result, we didn't have consistent contact with our tour operator. It was only possible to reach their representatives via email or by using roaming to call them on ($$$). It would have been better to be able to reach reps and local guides via text message or WhatsApp.
The information provided by the in-country tour company hadn't been updated since before the Covid-19 pandemic. It consisted of a series of PDF files with hyperlinks that weren't live, so you couldn't simply click for more information. It left a less-than-luxurious impression.
Nevertheless, the trip was still spectacular and we had a great time.
