This travel company planned an amazing eight days for us
in Jordan. We had never visited Jordan before but heard from friends that it was worth a visit. The travel company worked with the thoughts we had and the expertise they have to create an amazing experience for us. They booked a private driver/guide for our visit which was nice to have. This allowed us to truly customize every day. I absolutely recommend this travel company for a trip to Jordan.
We traveled as a group of 6 coming from different parts
of the US on a trip to Egypt and Jordan. The travel company was responsive and accommodating from start to finish during the planning process. Our trip planner provided suggestions based on what we were interested in. He helped accommodate two additional travelers after we had made our original itinerary. While in country, I was able to communicate easily with the planner about questions I had related to logistics. Every member of the travel team we met was professional, helpful and fun; from airport representatives, to drivers, to guides. All travel details were taken care of which was wonderful. All we had to do was enjoy the experience.Overall the trip was fantastic. It is hard to describe the impact of seeing such antiquity in real life. The guide was so helpful in putting what we were experiencing into a meaningful context. We purposefully included a blend of activity and down time and we are really glad we organized it that way so we could make the most of all we saw. We spent 13 days on our trip, 10 in Egypt and 3 in Jordan visiting Petra and then relaxing at the Dead Sea.Egyptians and Jordanians are lovely and welcoming people. At no point did we feel concerned for our safety.
Our trip went very smoothly. This travel company did a good
job of planning, organizing, and executing our trip. It was nice to have the same travel guide with us the whole time, except when we went to Petra in Jordan. I would recommend this travel company for travel in Israel. Our guide was really good. Can’t say I have ever had a trained archeologist as a guide before. Was certainly a great learning opportunity.
Every detail of the trip was perfectly executed. We
had an escort in every airport and everyone was where they were supposed to be when they said they would be there. Any apprehension my group of friends and I had about traveling to Egypt were quickly put to rest when we arrived. The travel team put together a wonderful itinerary and gave us the same guide for 10 days in Egypt and then another for our 3 days in Jordan. Our guide in Egypt really went over and above to make us feel safe and well cared for. My friends and I love to try the local food wherever we go and our guide insisted on going with us to local restaurants in Luxor and Aswan and having our driver pick us up and drop us back to our hotel. I am sure we could have taxied to restaurants on our own but having a local with us overcame any language barrier and also allowed us to sample all the best the restaurants had to offer. The six of us had an unforgettable experience visiting Egypt and Jordan and will enthusiastically recommend the travel team to our friends.
For the most part, it was an absolutely fantastic trip.Due
to a border closing between Jordan and Israel adjustments had to be made to our itinerary. The immediate hotel adjustments that were necessary were not made. Still got into the hotels but not without a phone call. Also stood outside in 100+ degree weather in Eilat for 20 minutes as no one was there to welcome us to Israel. Had to call the owner/ceo of company to find out where our transport was.
have used Zicasso for and have couldn't have been more pleased with each outcome. We worked with several agencies in planning a 3 week family tour of Israel before we decided on this tour company and we certainly made the right decision. Our trip planner of this company worked very closely with us in thoroughly planning a careful and thoughtful itinerary that fully accomplished all the goals we had outlined. The flow of the itinerary that this company put together was exceptional and became so much more appreciated as we progressed from one day to the next. They were so thoughtful to include very unique personal and intimate experiences along the way that made the trip so memorable and exceed expectations of a custom luxury tour. We particularly valued how well the logistics were executed throughout the entire trip made particularly evident in that expert handling of our border crossing into and out of Jordan and the West Bank. No truly memorable experience is without highly a skilled, experienced and well studied guide with you throughout the journey. Once again the trip planner and the team at this tour company delivered with our guide, companion, and quickly valued friend. He was the best and truly helped make our tour to Israel one that we will never forget. When we think back on so many memories from this trip our guide will be front and center in each one. We really appreciated how well each and every day went and the flexibility we enjoyed to the schedule, whatever we needed or wanted, our guide was so accommodating to adjust. Lastly, the mark of a truly quality organization is when something doesn't go quite right and how they respond. We had one minor issue at a hotel who was unresponsive. We didn't intend to raise the issue with the company but our guide learned of it and immediately bought it the company's attention who went above and beyond in resolution. We would without hesitation highly recommend this tour company when planning a trip to Israel!
When we decided to go to Egypt and Jordan, we reached
out to Zicasso as we had a great experience with them last year when we went to Turkey.
Zicasso put us in touch with a trip planner from this tour company. The trip planner took all our “must haves” and created a fantastic itinerary for us. Not just that – he also provided us with a guide with helpful information that helped us throughout the trip (i.e.local customs, tipping based on the activities, etc.). Prior to us leaving, he followed up with us and managed curve balls that were thrown at us by the local Airlines who changed a flight.
After landing in Cairo, we were greeted by a travel specialist, who navigated us through the immigration process painlessly and lightning fast. The travel specialist did the same upon leaving Cairo. He also gave me a bottle of Egyptian beer few people have heard of. Thanks! Upon arrival at the hotel, we met our local guide, who became part of the family throughout the Egypt portion of our trip. He studied Egyptology and we learned so much about the more than 700 gods, the amazing history and ancient culture. Not just that – we also learned about today’s culture and food. We smoked shisha, went to super cool places and we had the best falafel imaginable (thanks to our driver). In his hometown Luxor, we went to a small and hidden away restaurant to try stuffed pigeon and various other dishes. Unbelievably good.
Our guide also navigated small issues for us, e.g. “protecting” us from souvenir sales people or when there were small issues with the hotel (our room at the hotel in Aswan got a second clean over). He became a friend. Hands down.
During our Egypt trip, we stayed at a luxury hotel in Cairo (excellent), the hotel at the Cairo airport (very good), the hotel in Aswan (good but probably a bit past its prime) and the hotel in Luxor (excellent). We also cruised the Nile. This was the first cruise ever for us and we found out that this is not our favorite way of travel. This does not mean that there was any major issue with the cruise. Not at all. The food was good, the staff was incredible and the state room was ok (bear in mind that it is a marine vessel and you don’t get the same level of comfort that you would get in a hotel room – this includes a lack of hot water in the shower at certain times). There is just too much downtime for us.
In Jordan, we met with our driver who chauffeured us to Petra, then to Wadi Rum and back to Amman once it was time to head back home. Petra was incredible. We toured it during the day (including the climb up to the Monastery and perfect guidance by our guide) and at night. I am glad we did the night tour for the atmosphere and music but probably would not do it again as I felt there were too many people to enjoy it more. We stayed at a hotel in Wadi Musa which was incredible and super conveniently located (just across from the entrance to Petra). For dinner, we went to a nearby restaurant to try the local fare. The second half in Jordan was a night at a luxury desert camp. We had a panoramic pod which let us sleep “under the stars”. Amazing. We also did 4x4 tour into the sunset.
Just from a pure trip prospective (not commenting on the sights which there are gazillions of reviews out there), we enjoyed the part in Egypt better as there was a more natural connection with our guide which let us experience the country also a little bit off the beaten track. While in Jordan everything was very good, we had lunches etc. at typical tourist buffet places (unlike in Egypt with the only exception on the cruise). Not that they were bad, but it’s not the same.
A few words on logistics and safety/security.
The trip planner and this company organized transfers at every junction. Some were more personal (see my comment for Egypt)and others were more business-like. But they took care of everything – from immigration to check in. This was brilliant as it removed for us the biggest hassle in countries where you don’t speak the language.
Before we embarked on our journey, I was asked by many about the safety in Egypt. I want to point out that Egypt and the UK have the same safety rating by the US Department of State. We never – ever- felt unsafe. The biggest safety threat was probably crossing a street as a pedestrian in Cairo.
Thanks to Zicasso for putting us in touch with this travel team who did a wonderful job in organizing the trip and following up with his local folks throughout the journey.
And – of course – tremendous thanks to all the local guides, drivers and transfer agents.
Our trip to Israel and Jordon was one of the best we have
ever taken. The itinerary set up by this travel team for our travel in Israel was perfectly tailored to our travel objectives. Our guide was truly exceptional and great company. We can't say enough good things about him, and were sad to say good bye. This travel team coordinated our trip to Jordan with a local Jordanian company. That part of the tour was also well planned and the guide was good. The pre-trip planning was somewhat more challenging (we wanted to change the order of our stops) but we feel that was more a function of communication. For personalized travel, once again, Zicasso has helped us find a superb local agent! Thank you!
From the start this tour company was easier to work with
than the other agency that Zicasso offered. They set up a call and wanted to know more about who we were so they could design the itinerary that would suit us the best. We travel often and have specific likes and dislikes. This company worked with us to get the hotels and experiences we wanted. Also, we had a specific guide that was recommended to us by a friend. Although the company had never worked with that guide, they reached out to him and were able to procure his services for our trip. This tour company also arranged 3 meals with local families and tours of a winery and kibbutz. They also made many dinner reservations for us and arranged transportation to/from airports and border crossings. The one area where we had difficulty was with other service providers that this company had arranged for us. We had a canyon adventure with an outfitter that should have been better vetted. Expectations should have been clear: pick us up at our hotel, pay for our entrance into the park, etc,. This outfitter expected us to arrange our own transportation to a national park for the day. We wound up buying our own food at a grocery store for the trip and paying our admission fee into the park. They wound up picking us up, but only after our guide learned what was happening and spoke with the company. Also in touring Jordan there was difficulty in the handoff. Our Jordanian guide had no idea what our itinerary was for our time there and picked us up in a car that was way too small for us and our luggage. For an expensive luxury tour those small things mean a lot, but over all we had a great time and our travel planner from the tour company was always immediately available when we ran into difficulties.
Egypt and Jordan portions of the trip were 5+ stars.
Tours, guides, itinerary, flights, hotels, and escorts were all outstanding. These parts of the vacation exceeded my expectations.
The Israel segment was disappointing. The hotels were terrible, despite the supposed five star ratings. Hotel staff were rude, unhelpful, arrogant, and dismissive. The rooms were run down and dated. The Israel tours, although comprehensive, were uninspiring.
he loved his subject, was enthusiastic and very knowledgable. He was expert at getting us the tombs and museums at the least crowded times which made for a leisurely enjoyable tour. We would tour again with him in a heartbeat-in fact our daughter wants to come back and be involved in an archaeological dig with him. More than that he was personable and fun. We enjoyed meeting and enjoying tea/coffee in the park with his lovely family in his hometown of Luxor. He also recommended a delicious local restaurant for dinner( we do like to venture out of the resorts) always explained what was going on. He guided us with respect to Egyptian customs. He provided wi-fi in the car- a nice touch especially enjoyed by our 20 something daughter. We became especially fond of our driver. He had a very luxurious vehicle and provided water drinks snacks candy bars hand wipes- you name it-he had it besides being just delightful. In Cairo, a couple of people involved in our transfers deserve special mention. Our guide arranged breakfast and coffee to go at our departure which we enjoyed on our way to the airport. He was young , but very nice and engaging. Our driver who helped with transfer through Cairo to Jordan was just delightful, fun and informative besides pushing our tons of luggage without complaint uphill between terminals. In Luxor, the hotel rooms were not at the level of the other hotels where we stayed in Egypt. But the facility was lovely, the food excellent and the service excellent, special mention for other our guide(not sure of name now)breakfast server and bartender (again not sure of name now). (I had already filled out review for the hotel highlighting these 2 men upon our departure) Also the spa offered amazing massages. The hotel was beautiful with view on the Pyramids, great location, however, breakfast service was very slow. I would have preferred a flight later in the day instead of very early in the morning so that we could take advantage of our amenity of 4 pm check out.
The hotel in Hurghada was a wonderful oasis but the rest of Hurghada seemed like a bad Cancun. I would not recommend going to Hurghada unless staying at this hotel. That being said-loved the hotel. The reef was beautiful and you could see a lot just snorkeling. The dive shop was 5 star +, cannot say enough good things about the staff there, especially our guide who went out of his way to make me feel safe although I had not been diving in 25 years. Said was on top of all equipment and very helpful getting us outfitted properly. The food was excellent, favorite servers - attentive and accommodating. We also enjoyed the entertainment there- an amazing whirling dervish and belly dancer. The rooms were beautiful, the bed linens just scrumptious. The general manager of the hotel is in possession of separate review.
Transfers- our driver was charming, efficient, on it (he found suitcase that was pulled aside for containing binoculars quickly) no hold ups.
Wadi Rum was enjoyable, our guide on the jeep tour very helpful to me negotiating some of the more difficult paths.
The hotel in Petra was ok, fairly basic. The pool was not heated, freezing cold and therefore we were unable to swim in it, which we were looking forward to after a very hot day touring Petra. No real service at the pool either.
The guide in Petra was poor. He told us basic information, but seemed uninterested, walked ahead to smoke, was not at all engaging.
On the other hand, our driver was wonderful, loved him. He was a font of knowledge and a very entertaining guide. He had all kinds of snacks, fruit, water etc, hand wipes, tissues and wi fi. He took us off the beaten path when my husband expressed an interest in seeing a castle. The hotel terrace rooms were fabulous, loved having a quiet private pool there. Spa was beautiful, however I experienced the best actual massage at the Luxor Hotel. Housekeeping service and room amenities were beyond compare. Restaurant food all delicious although many times service was on the slow side. Pool service, however, again, beyond compare.
In summary, although quite expensive, it was a wonderful trip.
Perfectly planned and perfectly executed. The travel team
was very informative from day one and guided us in planning the trip and were very receptive to our requests They provided us with amazingly perfect services. Most important part of the trip was the guide, full of knowledge and wisdom. Thanks
