Day 1
Quito – Opulent Welcome to the Old City
Snow-capped volcanic mountains stand above Ecuador's capital, gazing down on a city that meanders through a valley. You're greeted at the airport and descend into Quito, driven down the slopes to the largest preserved colonial city in South America. At the heart of Quito is Plaza de la Independencia, where history hides beneath the ground, and fabulous 16th-century buildings gaze over a statue of independence. Your hotel is one of these buildings, and your balcony has a prime view. Recently redeveloped, the hotel relives the pomp and razzmatazz of when it was owned by a Spanish conqueror. Every detail harks to a distant era, fully immersing you in the city's past while you're relaxing in the bedroom. There's an astonishing dedication to the minute, from the feather quill on your side-table to paintings that hang above faded wood chairs. Check-in and relax... this opulent Ecuador journey has only just begun.

Detailed Description
Ecuador's historical wonders blend nature with culture. From the quaint streets of World Heritage Quito to the wild cliffs of a remote Galapagos island, the country delights in showcasing its inimitability to visitors. Experiences are exclusive here, whether you're surrounded by endemic birds, horse riding through Highland reserves, or admiring green sea turtles. Elevating the uniqueness of the destinations are three very different pieces of luxury accommodation. Begin your luxury tour of Galapagos Islands and Ecuador at the Plaza Grande, a fabulous hotel with five centuries of Quito's history carved into walls. Spend eight days on La Pinta, a stunning yacht taking you on a cruise to the Western Galapagos Islands. Then soak up the opulence of Hacienda Zuleta, a home that's housed the family of a former Ecuadorian president for over a century.
Quito's charming central streets are an ideal introduction to the country. Your hotel balcony overlooks the central Plaza de la Independencia while the interior takes you back to the excess of early colonial conquerors. A walking tour provides a glimpse of the city's glory, including a church that's completely laced in gold. Three nights in Zuleta are an equally historical way to complete the trip. Set in 2,000 hectares of nature reserve and a working farm, the glorious Hacienda offers sublime relaxation and the chance to horse ride beneath the swooping wings of condors. Spend evenings chatting with the owners, drinking wine and sampling the products from the onsite cheese farm.
La Pinta is one of the Galapagos's most luxurious yachts, offering an elegant cruise through the islands. For eight days, experience luxury Galapagos tours via cruise to the archipelago's most iconic sites, bringing intimate encounters with its surreal wildlife. You'll hike across volcanic lava flows, wander past flamboyant nesting sites, kayak with sea lions, and make daily snorkel and glass-bottom boat excursions. Afternoons and evenings are downtimes on the boat, allowing you to lounge on the spacious deck and watch the islands slowly drift past by. All meals are included, served in the superb dining room while drinks are shared in the open lounge. La Pinta's size offers exclusivity, with space on board allowing you to continue a private experience. Like Quito and Zuleta, the yacht allows you to experience Ecuador's wonder in the grandest of style.

Zicasso’s travel company was wonderful in planning our trip on short notice and in line with our requests and preferences. Their suggestions of what to do and where to stay were perfect. And when we accidentally got off on the wrong island, the travel company quickly got us new ferry tickets to get to the right place. It was all seamless.

Although the trip had a few bumps, Zicasso’s travel agency was excellent to work with. Our travel agent was responsive, informative, and had an excellent app (which he improved upon before we went away). He checked in regularly to make sure everything went smoothly and took all the pain out of self-traveling, which was the whole idea!

Five stars are not enough! From the moment we connected, Zicasso's travel agency curated the perfect trip from start to finish. It was almost as if they knew the ins and outs of my family and our desires; they knocked it out of the park.
Traveling with two teenage girls, accommodations were important to us. Our hotel choices were perfect, spacious, and centrally located. Every tour was perfect, curated, and personal.
As first-time international travelers, we were a bit anxious. We were constantly supported by the travel company, getting our questions answered immediately at all times of the day or night. We had the trip of our dreams and could not have done it without this amazing agency.
Our travel agent was a delight, a mind reader and a consummate professional. The most sincere appreciation to all on this stellar team. I will shout this agency's name to everyone I know planning a trip. Thank you!

All activities were very well planned and generally good choices. The tour guides were generally good, also. Our Zicasso travel company needs to review the night ghost tour. It was actually pretty terrible. Our group of about 25 didn’t enjoy themselves and, along with us, many left before the end.
The entire transportation plan was excellent and drivers were always on time and very polite. The accommodations at both hotels were excellent.
Thank you.

This trip was the greatest week of our lives! Everything planned was better than I could have imagined. The private drivers being coordinated behind the scenes made the trip so easy and removed all the stress of trying to navigate a new country. Every driver and our tour guide was so nice and I feel like we made friends with all of them.
My favorite part of the trip was definitely the cooking classes and that every tour was private and intimate for my wife and I. The connections Zicasso’s travel agent hooked us up with made the trip the most memorable experience. Our travel agent and the travel company took special care of all the tiny details of the trip; our hotel knew it was my birthday and had a special surprise for me! I’m beyond thankful for the perfect honeymoon they provided my wife and I.
