Lima - Touchdown and Attend a Ceviche Sampler Event

As your plane descends on the iridescent coastlines of Peru's capital city, you can look out on the picturesque beaches and elegant white skyscrapers. After customs, you will meet your private transport which will accompany you to your hotel in the prestigious neighborhood of Miraflores. You can unwind atop your private balcony or seaside with a refreshing and frothy pisco sour. Paragliders may soar across the horizon while children skip in grassy, public parks and fly kites in the sky. Couples will stroll along the botanical gardens of Parque del Amor before relaxing on beautiful mosaic-tiled benches, and seagulls will coo in the distance while taxis honk their horns along busy city avenues.

In the afternoon, you will join your guide at a nearby restaurant where you will sample perhaps the most emblematic of all Peruvian dishes: ceviche. You will sit in on a cooking demonstration that is led by an expert chef before sampling varieties from Lima's world-renowned restaurants. As you bite into the crunchy layers of pepper, onion, and seafood, tangy lemon-lime juices will overwhelm your taste buds. Later, you will enjoy a peaceful evening walk on the elegant trails above the crashing Pacific Ocean waves. The fresh smell of sea salt in the air is sure to soothe your senses and lull you to sleep as you return to the hotel to prepare for tomorrow’s urban exploration.

Peru, Ecuador Trip Review: Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Quito, Galapagos, Cruise, 12 Days

A group of six toured parts of Peru, including Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. When that portion of our trip was over, we went to Quito for one day and then onto a small cruise ship in the Galápagos. Every moment of the experience felt as if it were curated just for us. Most of the time, we went on tours with our guide and it was just the six of us. It was perfect because the guides could be flexible since it was just our group.

We had many guides and drivers in Peru, but we had a favorite guide and driver. The guide went so far above and beyond, it is hard to even explain. One example: we arrived by plane in Cusco around 8pm. None of us had been wise enough to eat lunch that day, so of course ,we were hungry. Unfortunately, we were not going to arrive at our hotel until just after 10, when the restaurant closed. Our driver called ahead, got the menu for us, helped us order, so it was ready when we arrived.

It was not just that. We were met after baggage at every destination and taken directly to our private van. Literally, every moment was accounted for from start to finish. We did so many tours in Peru and then went on a yacht in the Galápagos. This was an incredible yacht. The tour director accounted for our every need, even bringing us to a hospital because one member of the group was not feeling well due to a previous medical condition. The food was good. Our excursion guide was fantastic and seemed as excited about the animals as we were.

Zicasso’s travel company handcrafted the perfect adventure for our group. Our trip planner was fantastic and excellent at communicating with me throughout the process.

Peru Tour Review: Lake Titicaca, Puno, Cusco, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, Festivals, 11 Nights

Zicasso’s travel agent began our experience with a lot of good ideas and options based on our discussions with her about what we wanted to do and how we wanted to travel. We found her to be extremely responsive, with great attention to detail, innovative ideas, and flexibility to change things around so we could, for example, take advantage of a festival that was happening in one of the cities we planned to visit. We had a completely satisfying experience with the travel company and would recommend them to anyone who wants to travel to Peru.
