Detailed Description

From mouthwatering dishes featuring fresh-caught seafood, like Cataplanas and bouillabaisses, to hearty meat entrees like cozido à portuguesa, Portugal is a food connoisseur’s dream destination. This 14-day luxury itinerary offers you an unmatched gourmet experience by pleasing not only your heart and spirit but your discerning palate as well.

Your luxury gourmet vacation begins in Porto, where you will spend your first evening indulging in an unforgettable five-star meal at one of the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants. In the morning, you will head to the countryside and learn all about Portuguese spirits and liqueurs on a comprehensive and delicious full-day tour. Day three finds you embarking on a culinary adventure with a private guide, who will take you to the best local fresh markets before taking you back to his own home and leading you in creating a signature Portuguese dish.

Departing Porto, you will then head to Lamego, where you will step back in time as you visit an old-fashioned wine estate and witness how it still utilizes traditional methods to produce its award-winning wines. Obidos is your next destination, and after arriving there and taking a food tour of the city, you will spend the evening in luxury accommodations that used to be a castle residence of royalty.

After sleeping in a castle, you will head to nearby Mafra and visit its resident royal abode before spending the evening making artisan chocolate, a confection for which the region surrounding Obidos is quite well-known. Day seven takes you to Buddha Eden, a peaceful garden not too far from Obidos, where you will find a sense of zen as you wander among the stunning grounds. After that, you will spend the evening dining with a local winemaker and touring his estate, which still sticks to traditional methods of making and storing wine.

Heading to Lisbon, you will take a food tour of the capital city before indulging in a unique progressive dinner that features only the country’s most famous dishes. An unforgettable adventure to a snail farm awaits on day nine, while day 10 finds you breaking bread with a master baker after learning how to make your own delicious loaf from scratch in an old-fashioned wood-oven.

A full-day tour of all things olive oil fills day 11, and on day 12, you will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to become a winemaker for the day, creating your personal wine blend with the help of a master sommelier.

Tavira is the final stop on your luxury gourmet vacation, and while here, you will enjoy a full-day farm-to-table experience. Handpick the fresh ingredients from the ground and trees and then enjoy an amazing feast that you prepared with your own hands featuring the items you harvested just hours earlier.

Each night you will stay in luxury accommodations and have every detail of your vacation totally taken care of, including private transfers to and from specified destinations and airports. All that you have to think about is what amazing Portuguese dish you would like to enjoy next.

Portugal Vacation Review: Douro Valley, Boat Ride, Wineries,...

The whole trip was perfect. The guides (and especially our driver) were fantastic. The hotels were great and the advice given beforehand by Zicasso's travel company was super-useful. We might have had one too many palaces and heard a bit too much about kings, but we essentially enjoyed everything. The amount of time on our own was just about perfect.

Spain 25th Anniversary Tour Review: Madrid, Sevilla, Ronda,...

I'm not sure it's possible to be any more satisfied with the service provided by the Zicasso travel partner's team.

Ahead of the trip, our travel designer was in constant contact, by phone and email. In terms of the itinerary and the logistics/preparation for the trip, we discussed the right locations, iterated on the excursions, and ultimately planned out a wonderful holiday in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. He listened (for example, that we wanted more food experiences vs wine), suggested (for example, Segovia vs Toledo, Nerja vs Marbella), and coordinated all of the details.

And our concierge was amazing once we were on the ground. Coordinating with drivers and guides (especially since our inbound flight was delayed), making suggestions for restaurants and booking reservations, and providing guidance for myriad logistical situations (for example, the best route to take while driving from Sevilla to Ronda).

The travel company's team really delivered for us and we cannot thank them enough for our incredible Spain experience!

Portugal Tour Review: Lisbon, Lagos, Jewelry Making, Bengali...

This trip was fantastic! My husband and I, along with my three daughters in their 20s, had the best time. Planning with Zicasso's travel expert was easy. She was quick to respond to emails, texts and calls before and during the trip.

We wanted some unique experiences, like making Portuguese filigree jewelry, and she found a great place for us! The hotels she selected were perfect for our larger group.
