You will discover each and every one of them, one delicious bite and sip at a time, in the trio of European destinations on this 9-day luxury itinerary.
Your handcrafted gourmet getaway begins in Barcelona, where you will spend your first evening enjoying an authentic Spanish dinner before watching a live Flamenco performance. The following morning, kicking off your first official day in Spain, you will indulge in a private tapas tour with a local gourmand guide, who will take you to all of the secret spots with the most savory sips and bites. You will then learn to make all of these creations yourself with the help of a master chef as you spend that evening taking a private tapas cooking class.
Your Barcelona discovery begins with a private yoga session on the beach, followed by a lovely gourmet brunch. You will then continue onward to sweeten your day with a decadent private chocolate tour alongside your local guide. The night will be free for you to stroll the beautiful city streets and take your pick among a plethora of impressive al fresco dining options.
As you embark on another exciting event, you will be practicing your Spanish as you depart Barcelona and head to Madrid. Upon your arrival in Madrid, you will join your private guide in exploring the highlights of the city, while also tasting the best flavors from the best local vendors en route. To make things even more interesting, the entire way, you will be learning all of the Spanish phrases and terms for everything that you see, as well as trying your hand, or tongue, at conversing with the locals as you order your appetizing selections.
Day five will find you venturing to the stunning Segovia for a full day of exploring its best sights, as well as sampling its unique flavors as well. A private wine tour in the Spanish countryside follows the next day before you then depart Madrid towards Lisbon.
Once you arrive in Portugal’s capital city, you will enjoy a private tour with an expert guide, taking you around to all of the most iconic landmarks and monuments. En route, you will also be getting to taste some of the city’s most savory and sweet signature treats. That evening, you will then get the opportunity to learn how to make one of the amazing treats that you tasted earlier in the day with your own two hands, all with the help of a local master chef during a private baking class.
Your final day in Portugal will be spent amid the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the Portuguese countryside surrounding idyllic Sintra. Throughout your entire gourmet vacation, you will stay in luxury accommodations and have every detail of your trip handled for you, including all private transfers to and from every destination and airport. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Transport A+; guides A+; except in Barcelona; hotels B+: Madrid and Granada rooms overlooking the street were noisy—we had little sleep and an AC malfunction in one—so we needed to change rooms; food/market tours A+; cooking class A++; and the range of activities.

My wife and I have been lucky enough to travel to many places around the world, but our April 2025 journey organized by Zicasso's tour company was easily one of the best. Our agent and her team thought of every detail. All we had to do was show up and enjoy these two beautiful countries!
We went to Four cities: Lisbon, Porto, San Sebastián, and Barcelona. The itineraries were thoughtfully planned to give us great experiences without wearing us out too much. And the guides in each city were fun, knowledgeable, and engaging. The transportation was always easy and on time, and the hotels were top-notch.

We enjoyed the trip. The guides were good, although our guide in Lisbon provided a little bit too much history. But he was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his tours. The communication with the Zicasso company through WhatsApp was very good and they were very accommodating to upgrading our transport vehicle because our luggage was large. The food tours were good. We enjoyed all the sites that we saw. Barcelona, especially, was great.
We stayed at four hotels. Only the hotel in Porto was a disappointment. The other hotels were good and we were very comfortable. The breakfast that was served at the various accommodations varied in quality, but the breakfast buffet in Lisbon was extremely good. The hotel in Porto was definitely not a four-star facility. The local airline definitely does not have its act together. When we left Barcelona to come home, the line for the airline was about five or six times the length of every other line. I would have definitely been willing to pay a higher amount for a business class seat in order to use the very short line in the Porto airport.

Logistics: We actually cleared customs and baggage claim very quickly in Lisbon upon arrival. We were able to get to the train station and change our ticket to a train two hours earlier. We were able to notify them such that our driver was waiting for us when we came in. In general, all our drivers and vehicles were top quality (especially our driver in Porto). Our only issue here is that sometimes the pick-up times were far too early for transport to rail stations, especially the one in Albufeira. We arrived well over an hour early in what is not one of the nicest train stations in Portugal.
Hotels: All of the hotels were well located. Some were a little unique, i.e., you opened the room door in Lagos and right in front of you was the toilet area, but all the rooms were adequate, with one exception. We found it somewhat frustrating there was no seating other than the bed in all three hotels, other than the desk chair, or in the case of Lisbon, the small hassock used at the desk. Yes, Lagos had a balcony, but it was not usable due to all the rain. This was especially true in Lisbon, where according to the pictures sent in our itinerary, there was a large sofa in the room for the class we picked, but there was nothing in the room we were assigned. One other little glitch is that when we changed our schedule to drop a night in Lagos and add one in Lisbon, the hotel told us we had our original four-night reservation and then a one-night reservation for the night we came in early. The desk clerk tried to tell us we could check in, but would have to check out in the morning and wait until check-in time the next day to get our new four-night reservation room. I did clear this up with the hotel supervisor the next morning, but if they would have held their position, it would have been very awkward.
Excursions: All the activities they put together were spectacular. They’ve really spoiled us to having travel that doesn’t include 20 to 30 people. The most amazing was the dinner at the winery, as we were the only ones there. The first tour in Porto was a little rough, as it was cold and rainy, and after an overnight flight the day before, we weren’t really expecting a food tour starting at 9am, but it all worked out. Also, the fado dinner was great, although I must say, I don’t usually finish dinner at 22:30.
We are so very thankful that we selected this travel company to be our go-to partner in Portugal. It was a pleasure working with them and they were able to put together a program with what we wanted, not some cookie-cutter program that we needed to comply with. I will be giving a strong recommendation to any of our friends who are considering Portugal as a destination and we’re hoping other Zicasso operators are of the same quality when we visit other destinations.
Thanks again for everything!
Just to clarify one thing, the dinner ending at 22:30 was not a complaint; it was an observation about having a new experience, especially since it was connected to the Fado dinner.
