Reykjavik – Arrive in Iceland and Explore the Capital City of Reykjavik

Your flight will arrive to Keflavik International Airport, and your private transfer will greet you at baggage claim. Outside of the airport, you will find wide-open spaces along the highway that overflow with greenery as the cobalt blue hues of the Atlantic Ocean overtake the horizon and the plains spread across the landscape to the distant hills. Once in Reykjavik, you can relax in the comforts of your luxury hotel located in the heart of the city as colorful buildings line the streets and Tjornin Lake divides the city in half.

Geese, ducks and arctic tern fill the waters as the streets of Old Reykjavik will fill with the aroma of grilled sausages and spiced mustard. The sausage stands are known all across the country for offering quality, fast, and fresh sandwiches to passersby. As you wander with a snack in hand, you can walk towards City Hall as it stands on the lakeshores and dips into the water, designed as if part of its edges sunk. A café inside of the lobby lets you sit eye level with the water, giving you the feeling of being partially submerged.

You can watch the birds cruise on the water’s surface surrounded by the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. A large three-dimensional map of Iceland adds to the chic and informative atmosphere. In the National Museum, you will have an introduction to the history of Iceland and Reykjavik. Artifacts encompass a millennium, from the Settlement in the 9th century to contemporary culture. Large swords and drinking horns accentuate the past, pointing to a stunning bronze figure of Thor.

Iceland Tour Review: Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon, Ice Caving, Northern Lights, Glacier Hiking, Waterfalls, 1 Week

My family and I just came back from a week-long trip to Iceland, and we had a wonderful time. I have a travel agent in the US that I normally work with, but the initial price I was getting from her was $7,000/day. I was shocked by how expensive it was, so I started searching on my own to see if I could find better deals. That's when I happened to see the Zicasso website. I looked at the reviews and people had a lot of good things to say about them.

I connected with two travel agents on Zicasso and chose to go with our travel specialist because the itinerary was very organized and easy to understand. I gave him our budget, but told him I was willing to go up for a more private experience. I have a daughter who has a chronic condition, so my family and I normally do private tours instead of group tours so we can change the schedule if she's not feeling well.

We had a private driver for four days touring the Golden Circle, plus it included pick-up and drop-off from our hotels and airport during the other days. The cost was significantly less and I got the trip I was hoping for.

Our itinerary included hotels, private driver, excursions like ice caving, lava caves, Northern Lights tour, Blue Lagoon, and different waterfalls, etc. Because we had a private driver, we got to see more than most tourists normally see from those bus tours.

We thought it was an amazing trip. Our travel specialist was very easy to work with. A few days before our trip, he was sending me emails to make sure we knew what to pack and wanted to make sure I reviewed my itinerary carefully in case I had questions. While we were in Iceland, he also checked up on us to make sure we were doing okay. He provided contact information for his office and the Iceland emergency number in case we ran into issues. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service the travel company provided, especially our travel specialist. I highly recommend them.

Iceland Tour Review: Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon, Valley of Thor, Ice Cave Tour, 5 Nights

Zicasso’s travel specialist was wonderful. He was very attentive to our interests and needs, and was able to pivot based on the weather and conditions. Our driver, who picked us up at the airport, took us to the Blue Lagoon and waited, and drove us to our hotel and to the airport from the Sky Lagoon at the end of our trip, which was also great.

Iceland Tour Review: Reykjavik, Northern Lights, Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach, Hot Springs, 10 Nights

Zicasso’s travel company’s help was invaluable in ensuring we got the experience of a lifetime. They took the time to understand our interests and delivered an itinerary that was PERFECT.

While we were there, our travel specialist and his team were readily available if we had questions or needed assistance. The accommodations they booked for us were outstanding; exactly what we were hoping for. They also helped us navigate the reduction in daylight hours so we could leverage sights during sunrise and dusk. We got lucky with weather, but I will say, Iceland in winter is not for the faint of heart. We saw the aurora borealis four times. Mission accomplished.
