Reykjavik – Arrive in the Capital of Iceland and Tour the Vibrant Streets
Before you arrive at Keflavik International Airport, the most you may know about Reykjavik is that the city is the world’s most northerly capital. Your private transfer awaits your arrival at baggage claim, eager to welcome you to Iceland and escort you into the heart of Reykjavik. The population of the capital city is more than 120,000, and you will be enamored with the friendly atmosphere found along the streets and the welcoming smiles of the locals. Two out of three Icelanders call the city their home, and they fill the chic bars and sip their coffee and tea at the numerous artsy cafes.
Fishing trawlers and ships fill the bustling ports as pastel-painted homes create a rainbow of colors that rise above the verdant summer grass. Take time to freshen up in the comforts of your luxury hotel before you meet your guide in the lobby. Step out into the city for a combination of must-see sights and local life to gain a true sense of community in Reykjavik. Museums line the avenues of the Old Harbor as the Tjornin Lake splits the city in two. Films depict the eruption of the nearby volcanoes, and Northern Lights flicker against the backdrop of the cityscape.
You have a perfect view of the fishing boats as they sail across the water, and snowcapped mountains rise above the Harpa Concert Hall. Your guide leads you to Mokka, the first coffeehouse in Iceland, which opened its doors in the 1950s. Artists, writers, and philosophers enter in search of a place to sip strong espresso and discuss new ideas. The café continues its connection to the 1950s with an art deco style as the aroma of chocolate, fresh waffles, and rich coffee overtakes the scent of the sea that wafts through the streets.

We loved the troll tour of the Ring Road. Our guide was great. It was very active, with some hilly climbs, which were challenging. Most of the tour hotels were good, but there were limited food choices in some locations, especially for vegetarians.
Our hotel in Reykjavík was fun and we enjoyed the restaurant there. The hotel was a bit noisy at night. We found and recommend a local café across from the Hallgrímskirkja as well.
In Norway, we loved our rooms in Bergen, looking out on the water. Our driver there was very nice. We enjoyed the train to Flåm, but wished we’d had two nights in our hotel in Balestrand, as it was exceptional. Food was included and very nice. We might have enjoyed a day tour with a local guide if we’d had more time. The ferries worked well.
Thank you!

I received a well-planned itinerary from Zicasso's tour operator. I would use them if another trip comes up. The tour operator and the agent were very responsive to my questions; the app they sent me covered nearly all aspects of the trip and itinerary, and was very helpful in keeping me on track. Their service was of the highest level.

Zicasso's travel designer and the tour operator set up a great schedule. I was actually very surprised by how well the activities were balanced throughout the day. I never ran out of things to do and only had to skip a few locations on one day, most likely my fault for enjoying the places for too long at the beginning of the day. I would highly recommend the tour operator for setting up a great schedule for your visit to Iceland and booking all the necessities (e.g. car, hotel rooms, etc.).
They were also very helpful leading up to the trip to accommodate some last-minute changes and to help answer all of my questions before I arrived. Thank you so much for helping to create some great memories of my time in Iceland!
