Detailed Description

Archeologists have found evidence of the Viking exploration in Iceland that led to the island’s settlement in the 9th-century. The landscape has a far older genesis visible in the volcanic peaks, tectonic plates, and marine fossils situated on mountain tops. Your 8-day tour encompasses the natural beauty and preserved history of the west, takes you to farms and beaches, cities and lagoons. Your discovery tour begins with your arrival at Keflavik International Airport as your private transfer meets you at baggage claim and escorts you to Reykjavik.

Enjoy an introductory tour of the nation’s capital to immerse yourself in both the must-see sites and the local, contemporary culture. Embark on an excursion around the Golden Circle, a touted travel route that offers many of the natural wonders. Witness geysers, waterfalls, and the celebrated Thingvellir National Park. Next day, head north to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and trek to the top of the Grundarfjordur and Helgafell mountains for a view of prehistoric and ancient Icelandic history.

Visit the town of Olafsvik and cruise along the fjords in search of the vibrant whale pods in travel by in the summer. Move deeper into the traditions of the region with a visit to a local farm/museum that produces a traditional fermented shark dish; take the opportunity to taste the dish alongside a shot of homemade schnapps. Get close to the foothills of Snaefellsjokull Glacier on a horseback-riding excursion for an open panorama of the landscape that surrounds you.

Next day, make your way to the town of Reykholt to tour the Saga Museum to offer insight into the rich history of the island. Search for lava caves and waterfalls around town as well, and then continue to find historical monuments and magnificent waterfalls around the region before you return to Reykjavik for the night. Iceland Travel Review: Reykjavik, Golden Circle, Snaefellsnes...

Working with Zicasso’s travel designer was incredibly seamless and enjoyable. He created an impeccable nine-day trip to Iceland that allowed me to see different sections of the island each day. From Reykjavík to the Golden Circle to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula to the Silver and Diamond Circles, I covered a lot of ground by renting a car and driving myself.

I really appreciated how responsive, fast, and thoughtful this travel designer was in planning the trip with a quick turnaround i.e., I only booked the trip a month ahead of my scheduled travel. He also checked in throughout the trip to make sure things were going well and helped me immediately rebook a whale watching-tour that was canceled on my first day due to weather. Having everything booked through him made it really easy for me, knowing it was all taken care of. All I had to do was show up.

I highly recommend Iceland as a destination, especially if you enjoy outdoor adventures, hiking, and exploring natural wonders—it's a magical place. I also recommend booking a trip through Zicasso’s travel partner. As a local Icelandic company, it's an excellent resource to guarantee a great experience!
