Day 1
Port Douglas – Arrive in Beautiful Queensland and Charming Port Douglas
Northeast Queensland shines with distinction as the only place in the world where two UNESCO World Heritage sites meet, in the form of the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef. As your flight descends into the Cairns Airport, you can look out your window to find the silhouette of the reef winding beneath the clear sapphire water of the Pacific Ocean. The verdant rainforest drapes over the Great Dividing Range, the third longest land-based mountain range in the world, which borders the coastline.
Your flight will land, and your private transfer will meet you at baggage claim ready to whisk you away to the laidback tropical town of Port Douglas. Mango trees intersperse with towering palms to frame the gold-sand beaches around the port. Indigo water laps the shoreline and highlights the striking blond hues of Four Mile Beach. Cafes line the quiet streets of town set at the base of Flagstaff Hill, a lookout point that offers a terrific panorama of the mountains, palms, beaches, and varying shades of blue water.
Your luxurious accommodation will provide a tranquil atmosphere within easy reach of the sun-drenched sand and the refreshing Coral Sea. The infinity pool will shimmer with turquoise hues and the grounds fill with the scent of fresh mango and sweet pomelo. The Port Douglas Yacht Club overflows with spirited locals eager to enjoy a casual dinner and drink in front of the unique wading skyline of sailboats masks moored in the marina. You will settle into the beauty of your surroundings and allow the beautiful colors, enchanting aromas, and tropical climate welcome you to Queensland.

Detailed Description
The essential charms of northeast Queensland emanate from the ambiance of Port Douglas and the exotic natural splendor where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. Your 7-day tour is perfect for adventurers and beachgoers, and those in search of relaxed streets with pristine views. Your tour will focus on the best of the Great Barrier Reef and its surrounding splendor to offer insight into Aboriginal culture and the discoveries found in the dense trees of the radiant rainforest. Your journey will begin with your arrival at Cairns Airport, and your private transfer will meet you at baggage claim to escort you north to the town of Port Douglas, located in view of Four Mile Beach and the tranquil atmosphere of the marina.
Begin with an early morning wake-up call for the exceptional experience of watching the sunrise over the eastern seaboard from inside a hot air balloon. Upon landing, your guide will lead you to the Cairns Marina to step aboard your catamaran bound for Green Island. Relax on the white sand and snorkel amidst the beautiful coral systems that surround the island before you return to Port Douglas for the evening. The following day, your guide will take you to Daintree Rainforest at Mossman Gorge to wander the trails with a private guide to learn the history of the Aboriginal in the region. Listen to the stories of Dreamtime and discover the ancient plants still used for medicinal purposes.
Your day will continue at the marina as your catamaran will take you to the Low Isles for another half-day of relishing the soft sand and vibrant colors of the surrounding coral systems. Venture next to the Port Douglas Marina early the next morning and set out on your catamaran to reach the Outer Great Barrier Reef at Moore Reef. The deeper waters allow for a variety of coral and marine life to thrive, so you will snorkel, scuba, or enjoy an air-conditioned submersible for a more in-depth view of the life beneath the sea’s surface. The next day, you will take to the jungle once more, this time via the Kuranda Skyrail for a scenic gondola ride to the town of Kuranda. Once in town, you can wander through Barron Gorge National Park or visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.
The following day is at your leisure to indulge in the wonders of northeast Queensland at your preferred pace. Set out your blanket on Four Mile Beach for a relaxing afternoon or ride jet skis through Trinity Inlet on a crocodile tour. After enjoying breakfast with the birds at Wildlife Habitat, you can continue with thrills or leisure. You could always extend your time in Australia to visit the cultural capital of Melbourne or the view the unique and spiritual landscape of the Red Center. This was our first trip to Australia. Zicasso’s travel agent took time to get to know our family and how we like to travel. She gathered our interests and preferences, and carefully curated an itinerary that showcased Sydney, Melbourne, and Cairns/Port Douglas, all within our budget.
This travel agent was very responsive before and during our trip, and monitored our activities to make sure we were happy. In fact, during our stay, one of our excursions (kayaking in Cairns) was canceled due to weather and she was right on top of it. She was able to book us immediately on another expedition (whale watching) of our choice. We appreciated her responsiveness.
Overall, our entire family was extremely happy with our travel agent's arrangements and had a memorable trip to Australia.

We very much enjoyed our time in New Zealand and Australia. The tours were all very good. Zicasso's travel agent and our tour partner were very responsive and helpful throughout the planning phase and while we were on vacation.
The only feedback we have is that the hotels selected, other than the hotels in New Zealand, did not have the amenities we were hoping to get from four-star properties. We'll do a better job of indicating what we need in hotel selections moving forward, but we thought the hotels could have been a notch better than they were.

I would use our travel company again in a minute! Zicasso's travel consultant really “got me” and designed the perfect trip for us.
The highlights especially included picking perfect places for us to stay (close to most everything we were doing and in the heart of the cities). The tours, both private and small group, gave us not only what we asked for, but even more that we didn’t know existed.
The itinerary was as detailed as it could possibly be, describing the day, what to bring, names and phone numbers to call if there were issues, and who we needed to call to confirm future tour dates.
One of our highlights was the penguin experience. Our guide was great and our trip planner got us “plus” tickets, which I would definitely recommend. Finally, she provided us with the necessary info and guides (where necessary) for our amazing hikes.

Zicasso's travel specialists were fantastic! They provided excellent and unique recommendations. As a traveler seeking adventure and outdoor experiences, they completely understood my needs. Additionally, all accommodations were high quality, communication was very clear, and pricing was reasonable. I would strongly recommend them to anyone traveling to Australia/New Zealand.

We absolutely loved so much of our trip! My kids’ (ages 11 and eight) favorite activities were luging in Rotorua, NZ, and the sunset camel ride in Uluru, AU, while my husband and I were enchanted by Hobbiton and enjoyed exploring a glowworm cave with the owner's father! We all loved Tasmania.
There were a few hiccups. However, we were very happy with all the support the Zicasso travel company's team provided in real time to help us get back on track.
The overall trip was fantastic. My husband and I appreciated having the team support our adventures, both the highs and the lows. The team members were detailed-oriented. This trip exceeded our expectations and we’re incredibly grateful for their expertise in curating such memorable experiences.
