It’s a capital that’s soft and gentle, one that has maintained its old-world traditions into the 21st century. Chatter emanates from roadside cafes, an old amphitheater is hidden amongst the suburbs, and you’ll find that the locals stick true to classic concepts of good hospitality. On your first afternoon, you’ll realize that there are still capital cities where strangers greet each other on the streets and saying hello is part of the norm. Detailed Description

Surreal chronicles fill the landscapes of Jordan and Egypt. Roman monuments stretch 20 meters into the sky yet are untouched by tourism. Temples and tombs reveal the ostentatious tastes of Egyptian pharaohs. Ancient cities are sculpted into sandstone while majestic pyramids leave a legacy that can only be truly understood when you’re actually there. These are the lands where the great ancient civilizations flourished, from Thebes to the Roman Empire, medieval Islamic wonders to dynasties that existed 2,000 years before them. Best of all, these legacies to human history stand almost completely untouched. There’s so much to see and explore here that you’re only ever an hour away from the next mysterious ode to the past.

This 16-day private tour explores all the main highlights of Jordan and Egypt, starting with six nights in Jordan and finishing with three nights on the serene Red Sea coast at El Quseir. You connect the dots of civilizations, from the ruins of Jerash to the remarkable Valley of the Kings in Luxor. Along the way, you’ll enjoy all the classic Egyptian and Jordanian experiences, including drinking tea in one of the sandstone caves of Petra, riding a camel to a three-millennium old temple, lounging in the Dead Sea, and spending three days cruising down the Nile River. Many of the attractions are remarkably close to each other, and it’s easy to see a lot on any relaxed day. Your different destinations are connected by an assortment of flights and private road transfers that have inspiring stops en route.

Amman is a leisurely place to start and a great introduction to the region. You’ll have two relaxed days in Jordan’s capital, including a private tour out to the Roman ruins of Jerash. Take the King’s Highway, stopping at Mount Nebo and the crusader castles en route to Petra, where you glimpse the ancient city at sunset. Two full days of flexible private tours reveal the best of the sandstone caves and carvings, complete with meeting a family that still lives in the ancient city. On the way to Amman, you’ll journey through the surreal Wadi Rum desert and the equally peculiar Dead Sea.

Exploring Egypt starts with the pyramids, both those at Giza and the first ever pyramid at Saqqara. Spend three nights immersed in Cairo’s history, including the churches of Coptic Cairo, treasures in the Egyptian Museum, and some of the world’s finest medieval Islamic architecture. Fly to Aswan and the next three nights are spent on a luxury River Nile cruise. Disembark to explore the temples left behind by Egyptian dynasties, and then lose yourself in the marvels of Luxor, the site of historic Thebes. There’s a lot to experience, and it’s all complemented by your final stop, the untouched sand of El Quseir. Here, you relax after the journey and recall the wonders from Petra to the pyramids and everything in between.

Egypt, Jordan Tour Review: Cairo, Abu Simbel, Pyramids, Nile, 2 Weeks

I think Zicasso’s travel specialist did a fantastic job and oversaw everything, so we felt comfortable. We had a few incidents that were not pleasant, as in Jordan, with security holding us up going in/out, as we had binoculars that were not in our checked bags. They were really snotty at the border when we were leaving.

We also had a problem in Abu Simbel when our greeter person took us to the site. The guide was late and, once he showed up, we knew he could not go into the monuments. When we came out the first time, he was nowhere to be seen. He showed up 10 minutes later. When we came out of the second monument, again he was nowhere to be seen. Then, before the departure, he disappeared again. When people tell me they will be at a certain location and they are not there, it is disturbing.

Our professional Egyptologists at the museum, pyramids, and on the Nile were all fantastic. The driver in Jordan was always on time and did a good job. The car was small and cramped, but we liked the driver and he did a good job. All went smoothly in Jordan.

We got out the day before the bombing and were in Cairo that morning, so we did not have to deal with the war. It did make us nervous being in Egypt and we left a day early, but got home safely.

Overall, the sites were amazing and it flowed pretty smoothly, but would not have done so without the travel specialist checking in with us each day, and especially after the bombing started. I have used Zicasso three or four times and will continue to do so.

Jordan Vacation Review: 8-Day Trip

I cannot say enough good things about Zicasso’s tour company and its owner. He created a wonderful eight-day itinerary for us in Jordan. Everything was going perfectly, until March 1, 2026, when sudden bombings began in the Middle East during our trip.

He quickly and calmly walked us through our options and immediately began rearranging hotel rooms, transfers, and logistics to get us where we needed to be safely. What could have been a stressful and chaotic situation turned into a completely seamless experience because of his professionalism, connections, and quick thinking.

His support during those moments was truly priceless.

Six out of five stars, if that were possible.

Jordan Vacation Review: Jerash, Petra, Wadi Rum, Dead Sea, 5 Nights

Our Treasures of Jordan journey (Feb 15 to 20, 2026) was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

Despite the unexpected flight cancellation from Turkish Airlines and last-minute schedule adjustments, everything was handled with remarkable professionalism and calm.

Our guide was exceptional—knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply proud of his country. His warmth and storytelling brought Jordan’s rich history and culture vividly to life at every site we visited. Our driver was equally wonderful—always punctual, kind, and knowledgeable, making every journey comfortable and relaxed. Together, they showed incredible flexibility in rearranging the itinerary to accommodate our changed arrival, yet still ensured we experienced most of the important historical and cultural highlights.

Jordan itself was such a beautiful surprise. From the dramatic landscapes and historical sites of Jerash, Petra, and Wadi Rum to the serenity of the Dead Sea, every day revealed something breathtaking. The depth of history, the richness of culture, and most of all, the genuine warmth and hospitality of the people made this trip truly special.

We leave with grateful hearts, wonderful memories, and a deep appreciation for this extraordinary country and the amazing team of Zicasso’s travel company who made it all possible.
