Reykjavik – Land of Fire and Ice
History, culture, and life in the Land of Fire and Ice thrive in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. Horses and sheep graze on former lava fields blanketed with grass leading from the airport to the edges of the city. Rooftops glow with red, orange, and blue colors atop whitewashed homes. Old Town grows along the shores of Tjornin where arctic terns and swans search for fresh fish. The steel-like cobalt water reflects the surrounding spires and facades across the surface like a mirror.
Your flight arrives at Keflavik International Airport, where your private transfer greets you upon your arrival. It is easy to imagine White Walkers or Wildlings running through the open landscape between the airport the city. The spirit of Game of Thrones embodies the unique mixture of ice caps and volcanic peaks, lava tubes and distant plains around the country, forever connecting the fantastical landscapes of the fictional stories to the majestic landscapes of the non-fictional country. Your guide greets you in the lobby of your hotel after you have had the chance to wind down and freshen up.
The sunlight glints off the white concrete tower of Hallgrimskirkja church. The ridges along the nearly 250-foot tower remind you of a fraction of what the Wall must look like as it protects the northern boundaries of the Seven Kingdoms. You venture to the National Museum for an introduction to the Viking culture that has shaped Icelandic history and the tales that helped inspire portions of the Game of Thrones series. The museum offers a timeline of history and culture across the island, presenting chieftains and Christian power, exhibits adorned with drinking horns, glinting polished swords, and a bronze figure of Thor.

My family and I just came back from a week-long trip to Iceland, and we had a wonderful time. I have a travel agent in the US that I normally work with, but the initial price I was getting from her was $7,000/day. I was shocked by how expensive it was, so I started searching on my own to see if I could find better deals. That's when I happened to see the Zicasso website. I looked at the reviews and people had a lot of good things to say about them.
I connected with two travel agents on Zicasso and chose to go with our travel specialist because the itinerary was very organized and easy to understand. I gave him our budget, but told him I was willing to go up for a more private experience. I have a daughter who has a chronic condition, so my family and I normally do private tours instead of group tours so we can change the schedule if she's not feeling well.
We had a private driver for four days touring the Golden Circle, plus it included pick-up and drop-off from our hotels and airport during the other days. The cost was significantly less and I got the trip I was hoping for.
Our itinerary included hotels, private driver, excursions like ice caving, lava caves, Northern Lights tour, Blue Lagoon, and different waterfalls, etc. Because we had a private driver, we got to see more than most tourists normally see from those bus tours.
We thought it was an amazing trip. Our travel specialist was very easy to work with. A few days before our trip, he was sending me emails to make sure we knew what to pack and wanted to make sure I reviewed my itinerary carefully in case I had questions. While we were in Iceland, he also checked up on us to make sure we were doing okay. He provided contact information for his office and the Iceland emergency number in case we ran into issues. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service the travel company provided, especially our travel specialist. I highly recommend them.

Zicasso’s travel specialist was wonderful. He was very attentive to our interests and needs, and was able to pivot based on the weather and conditions. Our driver, who picked us up at the airport, took us to the Blue Lagoon and waited, and drove us to our hotel and to the airport from the Sky Lagoon at the end of our trip, which was also great.
