Marrakech – Safe Surroundings and Vibrant Beginnings

Marrakech is a different and absorbing world. The city embodies the exotic charms of North Africa and the enchanting culture known around the world as particularly Moroccan. Snake charmers fill Djemma El Fna Square with vivacious music. Rooftop cafes emanate the scent of freshly brewed green tea zested with zaatar. Minarets embolden the skyline, rising over the labyrinthine streets of the city and perforating the sky with history. When you arrive at the airport, one of our travel agents for Morocco will arrange for your private transfer to greet you at the airport. You will then be escorted to your accommodation. Friendly and welcoming faces await you at your hotel.

The 11th-century ambiance of Marrakech thrives in the Medina, the Old City. Narrow lanes lead to hidden alleyways marked by brick arches. The marketplace displays a kaleidoscope of spices. Shoes dangle like beaded curtains around the doorways of various shops, each shoe decorated with lively colors. The city is alive with splendor, from the historic 16th-century Madrassa Ben Youssef to the eclectic collection of the city’s past and present inside the 20th-century Marrakech Museum.

You immediately feel accepted in the safe and charming environment of the city, eager to explore the far reaches of history, culture, and landscape spread across Morocco.

Detailed Description

Some might say that you haven’t lived until you have seen Morocco. The country boasts millennia of history and encompasses cultures that have captivated hearts and minds throughout time. Your 8-day Morocco tour for solo travelers takes you on an energetic tour of the heritage, art, and landscape of the country designed with the solo traveler in mind.

Your fun and enlightening discovery of Morocco begins with your arrival in Marrakech. The city is steeped in charms that seem to have stepped out of storybooks. Your private transfer meets you at the Marrakech Menara Airport and escorts you to your hotel in the heart of the Medina. Your guide welcomes you to the charming city and escorts you on an introductory tour.

After breakfast, you venture east into the Saghrou Mountains to explore the citadels, adobe architecture, and oases around Nkob. The following day, you make your way to the gateway to the Sahara in the town of Merzouga. A camel ride takes you into the Sahara Desert where you spend the evening enjoying the culture, cuisine, hospitality, and pure open space surrounding the Berber camp.

Return to Merzouga after watching the sunrise, and continue to the town of Tineghir at the edges of the Todra Gorge. Once in the Gorge, you can explore the sheer cliff walls and palm tree forests creating a perfect oasis. Along the Road of 1,000 Kasbahs, you visit the picturesque desert city of Ouarzazate. In the nearby Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, you can stroll around the classically walled city and enjoy a private cooking course teaching you how to perfect the traditionally Moroccan dish of tagine. En route to the coastal city of Essaouira, you can stop at a celebrated vineyard to bask in the views and samples of the local libation.

When you arrive in Essaouira, your guide leads you on an introductory tour of the city’s ramparts built by the Portuguese. The next day is at your leisure. You can take in the colorful spectacle of the fishing boats or try your hand at the popular pass time of windsurfing. You could even simply relax on a rooftop terrace with a perfect view of the city set against the Atlantic.

On your final day in Morocco, your private transfer meets you in the hotel lobby and escorts you to the Marrakech Menara Airport for your flight home. However, you might choose to stay a little longer and the Morocco tours page will give you trip extension ideas.

Morocco Trip Review: Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, Sahara Desert, Ait Benhaddou, Marrakech, Food Tour, Camel Ride, 8-Day Trip

Our trip experience was A+++ from the planning stage through the actual trip. We enjoyed a curated trip and it was fabulous.

Our assigned driver, our driver, was a gem—courteous, thoughtful, professional, and an excellent ambassador for Morocco.

Zicasso’s travel specialist picked only four- to five-star hotels and riads for us. We enjoyed the quality of our accommodations and the professionalism of our various guides we were assigned for our visits to Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara Desert, our desert camp, Aït Benhaddou kasbah, a night food tour in Marrakech, and Marrakech’s medina.

We feel like we experienced Morocco—the tagines, the call to prayer, the desert, the camel ride, the beautiful people, the lush and layered history, culture, and architecture, and the emergence of a new and modern Morocco. It was more than we expected, which makes it so special to us. We highly recommend the travel specialist!!!

Spain, Morocco Trip Review: Barcelona, Andalucia, Chefchaouen, Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Marrakech, Atlas Mountains, Architecture, Art, Riads, 2 Weeks

Flawless doesn't begin to describe how incredible and meticulous the planning and taste that went into designing our Spain and Morocco trip. I reached out to Zicasso’s travel specialist far in advance, describing a dream vacation for my husband and me that included a near-impossible amount of locations to cover through both countries in only two weeks. We had tried coming up with an itinerary with another planner prior to meeting the travel specialist, but it did not work out. When we shared our vision with the travel specialist, he materialized it on paper in a way that made sense and even made adjustments that fit within our budget. We got to see every location with enough time to savor each.

The order of travel from Barcelona to Andalucía to Morocco was an intricate weave that told a story of cross-cultural exchange. We started off with Gaudí architecture and the Sagrada Família, sunsets at the Puente Nuevo, Alhambra, and Córdoba, marveled at the grandeur of the mosque cathedral, savored seafood paella and Picasso art in Málaga. We finished off road-tripping in Morocco, starting from the blue city of Chefchaouhen, continuing our journey through Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Marrakech, and the Atlas Mountains. It was nothing short of magical.

We will never forget the beauty of the sun rising above the Atlas Mountains, private candlelit dinners on our private terrace in the riads, the colors of the souks, and the hospitality of our Moroccan hosts. Each riad was carefully selected and far exceeded our expectations. And of course, our driver in Morocco was an absolute delight and went above and beyond. Besides providing transportation, he acted as a friend who showed us the ins and outs, helping us see Morocco in a way that we would not have if we went in a large group or had chosen to come alone. Overall, my husband and I cannot recommend our travel specialist enough.

Morocco Tour Review: Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, Atlas Mountains, Sahara Desert, Marrakech, Camel Ride, 1 Week

Every detail of the itinerary was amazing. Thanks to Zicasso’s travel agent. From our driver to the riad and hotel accommodations, and each location we visited (Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Atlas Mountains, a camel ride at sunset with glamping in the Sahara Desert, and Marrakech), we were partnered with a local guide who showed us magnificent sights and enriched our experience with historical information. Everything was beyond our expectations!
