Makgadikgadi Salt Pans – Adventurer’s Delight
The Makgadikgadi Pans are a vast expanse of salt desert in northeastern Botswana that are part of the greater Kalahari. Your international flight will arrive in Maun, and a representative will help you connect to your scheduled flight to the Kalahari Desert. Upon landing, a private driver will transfer you to your luxurious tented safari camp on the edge of the salt pans. In the dry season, sun-baked pans offer a unique salt desert experience with activities that include bush walks, game drives, horseback riding, and quad bike adventures. Zicasso's travel company did a great job with all the details. Every pick-up ride was waiting, small planes were as scheduled, and camps and lodges were expecting us. Our private guide was amazing. Camps were fantastic, with wonderful staff who became family.
Our lodge at Ngorongoro Crater was a nice change from camps at the end of the week. A key to the intelligent schedule was to send us to West Serengeti first. We caught the migration in its full glory. Most safari travelers we met did it in reverse, starting at Ngorongoro, and may have missed much of the migration. As a “lucky” bonus, white rhinos were introduced at Ngorongoro two days before we got there and we got to observe the interesting reaction of the existing black rhinos to these larger relatives. We saw every common animal species that exists in the Serengeti. That included 85 different lions and 13 different cheetahs.
This trip exceeded all our expectations and the direction and oversight by the travel company was spot-on. I can recommend this tour operator without any reservation.

The Zicasso travel company was a pleasure to work with and their attention to every detail was much appreciated. Communication from our agents was open and clear. Their experience and insights were invaluable to making our safari an amazing experience.
Our trip included stops at three camps, each with a unique and different perspective. The accommodations, food, and service at these camps were outstanding and tailored to us. The guides for the game drives were all exceptional, with deep knowledge about the animals and plants. They went above and beyond to ensure we saw the complete variety of animals and were able to capture amazing photos. This trip was truly an epic adventure and exceeded our expectations.
