Victoria Falls – The Epic Display of Nature’s Power

Victoria Falls impresses all the senses. You can hear the falls from a luxury riverside lodge, a thunderous rumbling that floats upriver. Approaching the park’s walking path, there’s a refreshing scent of fresh water, one that flickers through a thick woodland awning. Next, you see them, a mile-wide sheet of falling water, disappearing over the lip and into a chasm. Rainbows spiral in the mist that rises from the canyon, moss clings to sections of the falls, and the sheer abundance of water can be baffling. Finally, you get to really feel Victoria Falls. The first sections of the walkway take you to lookout points beneath the trees. These continue to an unprotected stretch of cliffs. Sprays of mist rise from the canyon and soak you in seconds, a display of nature’s power that lives with you for eternity.

Victoria Falls is a fabulous example of power. It’s also an insight into how wild and unruly Africa’s nature has always been. Close to the falls, you’ll see baboons and hippos, along with a handful of ungulates. On a boat trip to the lip of the falls, you’ll appreciate just how fast the Zambezi flows. And on a helicopter ride above Victoria Falls, you’ll explore the mesmerizing scale of the spectacle. Serene and surreal, Victoria Falls is a relaxed place to start any African adventure. Transfers to the airport and the national park gate are included, along with the different activities. After the flight to Zimbabwe, there’s also lots of downtime to recuperate and reenergize, preparing yourself for the adventure to come.

South Africa, Zimbabwe Travel Review: Cape Town, Winelands, Safari Lodge, Victoria Falls, Boulders Beach, Big Five, Penguins, 12 Nights

Cape Town was lovely. Our tour guide was great. He knew his history about Cape Town. He answered every question we asked. Our guide had a great rapport with my daughter. He was very trusting.

Our tour of the Cape Winelands was great! Our guide knew a lot about wine. Our stay at the guesthouse was lovely. We were very comfortable with the staff.

Our stay at the safari lodge was very special. We were treated like royalty. Our safari guide was the best. He knew about every animal we encountered. He took us on safari twice a day, morning and late afternoon. We saw the Big Five—elephants, Cape buffalo, rhino, leopard, and lions.

Our last tour was of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew where the best places were to get the best view of the falls.

Our first trip to Africa was beyond our expectations.

The itinerary was amazing. I had no real idea what a safari would look like. Zicasso's travel designer talked to me about what our ideal travel experience would be for this trip. We got a mixture of locations. We were able to see the Big Five and other animals, exceeding our expectations. We had wonderful food and people at each location.

I worked with Zicasso's travel designer for about one month planning our trip. She was very informative and patient. She came up with an excellent itinerary, hotels, and tours. We had a couple of Zoom calls to review the details. It was an excellent experience overall.

South Africa, Zimbabwe Travel Review: Stellenbosch, Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Sabi Sands, Cape Peninsula, Franschhoek, Winelands, Game Drives, Wine Tasting, Scenery, 11 Nights

Zicasso's travel designer was extremely helpful in our trip planning process, giving us multiple suggestions for itineraries and price ranges. He listened to our ideas and shared his experiences to aid us in our final decisions. Communication during the preparation for our trip was amazing. We were very pleased with the five-star accommodations he recommended, the pace of the activities included, and the order of the destinations we visited.

We spent three days in Stellenbosch, three days in Cape Town, three days in Victoria Falls, and three days at the private game reserve in Sabi Sands. The accommodations, service, and scenery started out top-notch and seemed to get better as we went along.
