Detailed Description

The Kruger can feel beyond comprehension. Leopards drape their spots across acacia branches, elephants entwine their trunks when they play around the riverfronts, and you can watch lionesses prowl the savannah. After two days, you will have experienced the Big Five and much more from the unusual roan antelope to boisterous hippos and exceptional birdlife. None of the animals will be encountered in isolation. There is such an abundance and diversity that no scene is ever standalone. In the Kruger, you will truly experience Africa’s wildlife as it should be: running free across an ancient wilderness.

Kruger offers some of the world’s best natural animal encounters. Its other key highlight is the ease and comfort of a safari. Lodges are luxurious, and you will stay in two of the very best, enjoying contemporary accommodations that can rival five-star properties anywhere in the world. Everything will be very clean and safe even though the animals are so close. You will be staying in two premium reserves with four nights in the Timbavati to the west and three in the Lebombo Mountains to the east. These contrasting Kruger destinations create a rounded safari experience as you will discover many wilderness nuances.

In these game-rich Kruger areas, your game drives do not need to be long and tiring. In the Timbavati and Lebombo, you will be encouraged to safari slowly and travel short distances. This laid-back style typically attracts senior travelers and honeymooning couples, but do not think that moving at a slower pace means less wildlife. With this safari, the premium is on your location. Both the Timbavati and Lebombo are private reserves, and they share unfenced boundaries with Kruger National Park in addition to having strict controls over the number of human visitors. Wildlife moves freely, and it congregates in these reserves due to the permanent water and a rich assortment of vegetation.

This safari is handcrafted for senior travelers for their first visit to Africa, and it offers a complete experience that will remain within your comfort zone. During four days in the Timbavati, you will enjoy daytime and nighttime game drives in addition to a hot air balloon flight and a trip to Blyde River Canyon. Lebombo is a more isolated destination, which is a wildlife retreat that impresses with beautiful tranquility. Just like the Timbavati, you will enjoy modern luxuries, contemporary fine dining, an abundance of private space, and stunning encounters with Kruger’s wildlife.

You will have a private guide and driver throughout this week-long safari. This is advantageous as game drives can be, and it is all catered to your interests and needs. You will also have complete control over the schedule. Typically, there will be a morning and afternoon game drive along with a nighttime game drive should you desire one. Drives can be slow as these compact, private reserves support magnificent and revered wildlife collections, and as your safari continues, you will discover that the Big Five is only the beginning of your Kruger experience. Here, there is not five but thousands of breathtaking scenes to experience. Don’t take just our word for it - consider reading some of our travelers’ reviews of South Africa, and see how you can customize your own dream vacation.
