Rome – A Family Occasion in Rome
Rome conjures images of ancient architecture and powerful gladiators, noble senators and Baroque palaces. The aroma of fresh pasta drifts out of local trattorias, traditional Italian restaurants. The sunlight washes over the golden sandstone along the façade of Castello Sant’Angelo. Gelateria showcase the vibrant colors of creamy mounds of gelato waiting to be scooped. Your flight lands at Rome Fiumicino Airport, where your private transfer greets the family upon arrival. Upon entering the city, you find elegant fountains trickling with water and the opulent columns and brass statues of the 19th-century Victor Emmanuel II Monument. The pillars along the upper colonnade reach 50 feet tall and resemble the wings of a classical temple.
From the window of your hotel located along a street lined with shading oak trees, you take some time to embrace the beauty of the Eternal City. Your guide greets you in the lobby, eager to introduce the family to the grandeur of Rome during a walking tour of the historic city center. The Trevi Fountain remains an icon of Rome and features the dramatic posture of Oceanus, Titan of the Sea. The mouth of an ancient aqueduct continues to feed the fountain as water falls over the smoothed rocks into the crystal clear turquoise pool. The kids take coins and follow the other visitors by turning their backs to the water and throwing the coins over their shoulders and into the pool. They hear the metal plop; according to legend, it means they will return to Rome again.

We've taken many family vacations over the years, but we all agreed this was the best one yet!
The team at Zicasso’s travel company did an exceptional job tailoring the perfect trip for our family. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, making the entire experience seamless and truly enjoyable from start to finish.
We had wonderful drives and knowledgeable, engaging tour guides who made each destination come to life. Some of our favorite highlights include a hands-on cooking class in Florence, exploring the beautiful Tuscan countryside, and having effortless access to iconic sites like the Vatican and the Colosseum.
The experiences were unforgettable, from the best food tour in Rome to a fun and unique golf-cart tour through the city. We also loved visiting a Parmigiano-Reggiano factory and a Parma ham producer, along with an extra-special stop at the Ferrari Museum that was such a memorable surprise.
Every moment felt thoughtfully curated and we came home with incredible memories that we will cherish for years to come. We highly recommend the travel company to anyone looking for a truly personalized and exceptional travel experience.

Zicasso's travel company planned the most amazing trip to Venice, Verona, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, and Rome for our family of five. It was the best trip I've ever taken, and having all the details covered by them and plans and tickets sent to us via WhatsApp allowed us to really live in the moment and not have to think about what was next. I loved every second. I cannot wait to plan another trip to Italy to experience the southern half of the country.

Zicasso’s travel company and every single guide and driver were stellar. All four hotels were good or excellent. There was one error on the schedule for the day outside of Florence when we had a driver to take us to the Siena region. The schedule stated three hours, so we paid for tickets to the Pitti Palace/garden, which turned out to be wasted money as the driving tour was actually nine hours. It was a beautiful day, though.

We had a fabulous time in Sicily. It was our first visit and Zicasso’s travel company planned an excellent itinerary, with great recommendations on the cities and towns to visit that felt like a truly local experience. (Other agents focus on the big cities of Palermo and Taormina, but the travel company recommended we spend more time in Syracuse/Noto, Ragusa, and Modica.)
We loved our primary driver and the boutique hotels they selected for us. Communication and documents were all easy to follow.
The only piece we wish might have been curated a little more was the recommended dining options. There were too many and not necessarily great restaurants.

Overall, I loved all that was planned for me by the travel specialist. She did a great job planning the transfers, tours, and activities we discussed during our planning. In particular, I loved my tour of Modica, the winery visit, my visit to Agrigento, and my visit to Noto and Marzamemi. I also loved my hotel in Ortigia - the location, the architecture, the views. I wish I had requested a sea view for my Taormina hotel, as not having that felt like a miss. I did not like at all the hotel in Rome (in spite of its convenient location) - it was a miss after such a glorious trip.
Every single tour guide and driver was excellent, knowledgeable and reliable. The initial personal fast track transfer in Rome was also excellent, and I requested the same service when I was leaving.
I would have liked the food and wine tour in Taormina to be a bit more elevated, given I am a foodie with elevated tastes. The local Sicily organizer, was very responsive overall. I just found it strange that she did not follow through on her offer to pay for a dinner because I chose my own venue.
The reason I am not giving this trip a 5 is because of a few issues: the room in Taormina and the hotel in Rome. The trip started strong with the transfer support and I wish it had been included at the end - I paid an additional fee for it. I also paid a significant additional fee for a private tour to Mt. Etna, which was given by the same person who drove me there. I feel like I overpaid for that tour. I canceled the Etna Food and Wine tour and wish I had gotten some consideration for that.
Stepping back, I am grateful for the trip and all the detailed organizing that went into it. I will look more closely at hotels offered so I avoid being disappointed.

Our 2026 family trip to Italy was incredible and we are grateful for the services of our travel specialist and the Zicasso team. We visited many amazing cities, including Rome, Florence, Bari, and Lecce, and many more smaller towns. The coordination between the travel specialist and the local support teams was outstanding. The drivers and tour guides for each city were on time, knowledgeable, personable, and very interactive with our group.
Our group consisted of six people and extended over 11 days. Coordinating, researching, and scheduling a trip of this magnitude required a ton of work by our travel specialist and the Zicasso team. They did an incredible job scheduling excursions, tours, meals, and trips every single day of our trip. We appreciated the detailed itinerary and the flexibility to plan for anything special a family member wanted to include as a “must-see.”
The hotels in each city were amazing. My main requests were that each hotel have a rooftop terrace and be centrally located to the main attractions. The travel specialist nailed it! The only critique I have requires some background: I'm handicapped and unable to walk very far, and I'm very limited in my ability to climb stairs. I may not have been as clear or forthright about my abilities with the travel specialist. My pride may have gotten in the way. With that said, two of the hotels we booked were not designed for individuals with disabilities. I take responsibility for this and only include this in case someone with disabilities is planning a trip. Be completely honest about your limitations with Zicasso so they can plan accordingly.
If we ever had trouble finding a driver, tour guide, or hotel, our travel specialist was able to help simply by calling her and getting her involved. Troubles were rare, but if we needed help, she was there to support us.
