Detailed Description

Drift away into the Roman and Greek Empires as you weave between the archaeological and modern day sights of Rome and Athens on this weeklong experience. Globally coveted sights sit parallel to quiet local corners, both of which you will grow familiar through a combination of guided and self-directed excursions. Each day occurs against the backdrop of elegant European luxury – in both Rome and Athens, you will be cared for by some of the cities most renowned hotels.

Your tour of Italy begins in the Eternal City where you will spend two days retracing the two millennia worth of history. From the Coliseum to the Vatican, you will relive the most remarkable periods of the Roman Empire. Antiquity is however contrasted by the innovation that surrounds it. Intimate wine bars and open-aired street side cafés make for innumerable stopping points along your journey. Local specialities further delight your palate, diversifying the ways in which you experience this cosmopolitan city. Dip in and out of unique neighbourhoods, growing more accustomed to the Roman way of life, before eventually moving onwards to Greece.

In Athens, you will continue to explore how old and new intersect to form this deeply unique and enchanting city. Beginning atop the Acropolis, look out over Athens to imagine the city through the eyes of those who established this monument in 5,000 BC. Wander between temples and ruins for the remainder of your days, possibly venturing out of the city onto the Aegean Sea for a taste of the Greek Islands. Return only to fill your stomach and hearts with the rich flavors laid out on a mezze in a quiet taverna, before returning to your hotel for a final sacred piece of baklava.

Italy Vacation Review: Florence, Tuscany, Umbria, Local Cuisine, Museums, 14-Day Trip

My wife and I recently returned from our first trip to Italy and want to highly recommend Zicasso's travel specialist and her company for creating the perfect vacation for us. It was a two-month process of back and forth, but no matter what we asked of her, she delivered several options.

We had a perfect mix of historical Florence and its museums, and wonderful restaurants, and the Tuscany and Umbria countryside experience. And on our first day, when our flight into Florence got diverted to Milan, we had the peace of mind that our travel specialist was there to help with her much appreciated support.
