Bajos del Toro – Arrive in San Jose and Travel to Bajos del Toro
San Jose retains the same active spirit and bustling nature you remember from your last Costa Rica vacation. The Central Market continues to bustle with the stunning colors of mango, pineapple, passion fruit, and papaya. The aroma of cherimoya soup drifts through the aisles, emanating from the sodas, small restaurants serving traditional dishes. The handmade crafts filling the lanes of the Outdoor Market at Museo Nacional still hold the charming allure connected to the customs of the Central Valley and greater Costa Rica.
Your flight lands at Juan Santamaria International Airport, where your private transfer greets you upon arrival. As you make your way out of the city, your driver points to the mountain ridges encircling the Central Valley. A slight blue haze dwindles over the verdant crops. Your driver calls the ridge the “Coffee Line,” the demarcation at around 5,575 feet above sea level where the coffee in the Central Valley ceases to grow. You are excited for this new experience visiting the area of Bajos del Toro, which offers the biodiversity of the cloud forest, along with luxurious amenities and wildlife, away from the crowds of Monteverde.
The roads take you around the bubbling activity of the Poas Volcano. You travel over the steep mountain ridges where the air is noticeably crisper than that of the Central Valley. The cooler temperature overtakes the landscape as you reach the remote comforts of your eco-resort where you will take the time to relax surrounded by the serene sounds of nature. Your private suite offers a remarkable view over the canopy, while your Jacuzzi on the patio provides a soothing, private experience in which to indulge in the beginnings of your Costa Rica vacation.

While in Bajos del Toro, you connect to the culture with a small tour of the nearby town where you will meet with a local restaurant owner to learn how to make regional tortillas. Having never been to Costa Rica, we wanted to experience an overview of the country and its diversity. Consequently, we ended up visiting five areas of the country over a two-week period, flying in and out of San José. The trip was well planned by Zicasso’s travel company and services met or exceeded our expectations, from accommodations to tours and transportation.

We had a wonderful time on our trip. Zicasso’s travel specialist was responsive to what we wanted to do and adjusted our trip to fit our budget. He included our interests and took the research out of it for us. We asked him to plan on a tight time crunch of less than a month and he made it with ease.
Costa Rica had so much to do and he kept us active, which we wanted. I appreciated how the travel company had a travel app for all of our itineraries and tickets, as well as an emergency contact to make adjustments during the trip. We used this several times to book things we discovered during the trip and it was a breeze.
Our favorite adventures from our trip were ziplining, the river tour, and the waterfall in La Fortuna. We also enjoyed animal tours, which says a lot, as I'm not an animal fan, but the adventure was wonderful and felt very safe. I would consider the Monte Verde night tour next time.
We enjoyed our resort in Manuel Antonio and the beach at Manuel Antonio. The view was incredible.
Our whole tour flowed seamlessly and Costa Rica was beautiful and full of adventures. We'd happily return and use the travel company.
The coffee and chocolate tour in Don Juan was wonderful. Additionally, all of our hotels were great. I'd highly recommend this experience.

Costa Rica didn’t disappoint! The hotels Zicasso's travel agency chose were clean, super-friendly, and responsive. I was shocked at the number of tourists in the national forest since on our last visit many years ago, we were the only ones in the forest. Prices were much higher than anticipated, but the agent could not have done anything about that. However, you can’t beat the surrounding nature. Thank you for arranging everything!

My husband and I had an amazing vacation in Costa Rica. It is a pure paradise. Beautiful sights, wonderful tours, great food, and so much to see and do.
Zicasso’s travel specialist and the team were great at planning our vacation. They took the time to listen to our needs and delivered a wonderful plan for us. They were there to help us with minor changes we had to make during our trip. They were attentive and helpful.

My niece and i had a wonderful time in Costa Rica as planned by Zicasso's travel agency. Each of the three resort locations had something special to offer in terms of accommodations; and the staff at each resort were beyond phenomenal and friendly. Everywhere we went, the staff greeted us by name.
The activities suggested and planned were also very good. Highlights of the activities were ziplining, the ATV adventure, the organic farm tour, and cooking class and the sunset boat ride and snorkeling (even though it was before sunset and there wasn't any snorkeling).
The Tachiz drivers (Christian, Edgar and Alex) picking us up from the airport and taking us from one resort to another were personable and informative. Alex pulled over so we could take wildlife photos, and Edgar showed us 'the best' souvenir shop in Costa Rica.
Tachiz staff was available through what's app for anything we needed.
