Detailed Description

Costa Rica embodies the romance of a tropical getaway and the intrigue of an active adventure. With incredible wildlife found on safari while taking in the captivating flavors of a fascinating cuisine, your visit is enriched by a heritage of decadent fruits, vegetables, and locally grown ingredients for a riot of flavor. Your 9-day Costa Rica vacation will embrace the culinary delights found between San Jose, Vara Blanca, Monteverde, and the Central Pacific. Whether a lover of world cuisines or a birding enthusiast, an amateur surfer or eager to visit Costa Rica for the first, second, or fifth time, you will be immersed in luxury and activity that spans the majestic scenery of cloud forests and sandy beaches.

Your journey will begin with your arrival in San Jose at the gorgeous Hotel Grano de Oro. The Victorian architecture offers a respite from the bustling streets of the capital city while the malls, restaurants, markets, and nightclubs harbor the hidden charms of the fast-paced atmosphere that is surrounded by the lush mountains that shape the Central Valley. Enjoy a privately guided tour of the Gold Museum to learn about the coffee culture at Café del Barista for an experience meant to awaken your taste buds to the subtle possibilities of the everyday drink’s profile. Relish time in the Central Market to learn about the historical complex and heritage that surrounds the traditional cuisine of the capital city.

In Vara Blanca, you will find comfort in the boutique Peace Lodge that is located on the same property as La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The hotel is known for its warm ambiance that emanates from the rooms that are decorated with rich wood, hardy stone, and cozy fireplaces set amidst the misty mountains draped in rainforest. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a fascinating complex with enclosures that protect tropical birds, jungle cats, snakes, and monkeys that were once part of the illegal game trade. Visitors can walk amongst hummingbirds and into the butterfly observatory, and then wander past the protected animal enclosures before reaching the waterfall trail. Walkways and viewing platforms provide access to the five cascades that pour down the backside of Poas Volcano.

The Hotel Belmar in Monteverde brings comfort, luxury, and gourmet cuisine that blend with the scenery of the cloud forest. The landscape offers a series of adventures, or you can take the chance to relax in the cozy cabin ambiance on the hotel grounds. Travel through the trees on a zip line tour, or wander the hiking trails on a guided tour around the protected reserve in search of resplendent quetzals and motmots. A cacao farm in Old Town Monteverde will immerse you in the history of chocolate and the evolution of the process of making gourmet chocolate.

Villa Caletas, in Costa Rica’s Central Pacific, provides splendid views of the coastline and of the protected scenery that rolls from the tree-lined hills to the basin of the Tarcoles River. Luxurious panoramas, opulent accommodations, and delicious cuisine enhance each other to create a memorable and relaxing time. Indulge in the splendors of the hotel’s award-winning spa, or take a moment to relish the hot coastline of Villa Caletas’s private beach. Take a chance with a surfing lesson, or hike around the trails of Carara National Park to find scarlet macaws and howler monkeys. Costa Rica is a region unlike any other; learn more by seeing how our partner Costa Rica travel companies can personalize the experience for you.

Costa Rica Tour Review: Tamarindo, Arenal Volcano, Rio Celeste,...

We had a near-perfect experience, I would highly recommend Zicasso's tour company.

Costa Rica Vacation Review: Arenal, Wildlife, Photo Opportunities,...

We celebrated my daughter's high school graduation with a 12-day trip to Costa Rica. I interviewed several local travel agencies and fell in love with Zicasso's tour company from the very first phone conversation. The owner was fantastic to work with, helping me craft the perfect adventure-filled, action-packed vacation for my family. He was honest and took the time to listen to our preferences. He provided great feedback and suggestions.

Prior to our trip, I felt very confident that I was in good hands and knew that every detail was taken care of. During our trip, the company owner checked in with me several times to make sure everything was ok. Unfortunately, someone in my family had to go home early and he was so helpful in coordinating an extra trip to the airport to accommodate our family needs (it required an extra nine hours of driving and a hotel stay for the driver).

The company owner and our agent were generous enough to not charge me for this extra trip. They even canceled all the hotel and activity reservations for that family member, and I received a refund at the end of my trip! It truly was a trip of a lifetime. I found myself thinking, I wish there was a travel company like this for every country because I would use them again to plan my next vacation, wherever it may be!

I also want to give a special shoutout to my driver, who drove my family on several long road trips during our vacation. During our drives, he would spot many interesting animals and birds, and stop on the side of the road so we could get out and get great pictures. Some of my best close-up opportunities to look at animals occurred while in the car. He talked about the agriculture, the school system, and the different rainforests. He even bought plantain chips from the side of the road and shared them with my family. Even though his job was to drive us from point A to point B, I felt his knowledge and his ability to spot animals was better than many of the tour guides we had on the trip. He really cared about Costa Rica and was excited to show us all it had to offer.

I highly recommend this travel company. And ask for our driver to drive you around; you won't be disappointed.

Costa Rica Travel Review: Catamaran Trip, Ziplining, National...

Everything was arranged thoughtfully, with time for "adventures" and downtime at terrific resorts to relax. All pick-ups, travel by limo, and drop-offs went as arranged. The drivers, guides, and hotel staff were all very pleasant and kind. Zicasso's tour operator did a great job planning our eight-day, family-of-10 trip to Costa Rica! We appreciated that most tours, hikes, and ocean experiences were small groups of just our group of 10. This made it a personal and annoyance-free experience all around. Thanks!
