Day 1
Okavango Delta - Arrive in Botswana’s Remote Wild
The Okavango Delta is one of the most extraordinary destinations in Africa. Stunning wildlife thrives along the marshy banks of the sprawling branches and is found in the distant call of leopard barks and the nightly whoop of a hunting hyena. Papyrus reeds sway in the gentle morning breeze, and the vast sands of the bordering Kalahari Desert offer a glimpse of the landscape on the close perimeter of the oasis of palm, acacia, sycamore fig, and mangosteen trees. After landing at the airstrip, your private transfer will escort you to the comforts of the Vumbura Plains safari camp.
The luxurious grounds rise out of the diverse surroundings accentuated by opulent tents with private plunge pools and views open to the wafting reeds nestled between the banks of the delta’s iconic channels. For an introduction to your camp and the splendor of the ecosystem, you can experience a mokoro safari by boarding the traditional dugout canoe with an experienced guide and skipper. The canoe has become a symbol of the Delta as it spans nearly 20 feet in length and offers a unique view of the wilderness and wildlife from the sunken perspective of the water. Your guide will steer you down the channel quietly gliding on the water as the aroma of Jacaklberry trees fills the air. You may spot the Bradfield’s hornbill perched on the strands of grass. The bird can grow up to 22 inches tall and can have yellow eyes with a red beak.

The trip was very well thought out and organized by Zicasso's travel agency. It was a good trip for a first time to sub-Saharan Africa.

Zicasso's travel agent is a superstar. We really didn’t know where to go and what to do in Africa, so his excellent advice was critical. We did exactly what he recommended and, as a result, our trip was just perfect. We are eternally grateful.

Our African safari, organized by Zicasso’s tour company and its agent, was a trip of a lifetime. Their partnering with the local travel company was absolutely brilliant. Our guide was of the highest quality that could have been expected.
The accommodations at the Ngorongoro Crater were amazing. The other accommodations were a bit more rustic, but they seemed perfectly located for our safaris.
We would not recommend the "walk" to the elephant caves without more disclosure about the difficulty of the trek and the footwear required. We were not thrilled with the visit to the Maasai village. We felt taken advantage of. We would have preferred a visit to a village where our participation was more authentic and where we did not get a high-pressure sales pitch.
Booking the hot-air balloon ride with the chosen company was an excellent choice. We have come back with so many memories of our time in Tanzania (including our stay in Zanzibar). We would highly recommend our travel company and agent to anyone considering an African safari.

Zicasso’s trip planner helped create an excellent itinerary. The guide in Senegal was attentive and knowledgeable. He made nice adjustments, so we optimized the time at my chosen sites. The drivers were also outstanding. I enjoyed the hotels. The beaches were not crowded and there were always plenty of pool or beach chairs in Saly. Overall, it was an excellent birthday trip! Senegal is a hidden gem.
