Bangkok – At the Center of Bustling Bangkok
Bangkok is a city of captivating history and remarkable culture, embodying an elegant past and fast-paced present. Street vendors mix spicy, sour, and sweet flavors. Lavish hotels rise along the banks of the Chao Phraya River offering unfettered views of passing long-tail boats gliding down the waterway. Your flight lands at Suvarnabhumi Airport, where your private transfer meets you upon arrival. The fragrance of fresh flowers emanates from the Flower Market at Pak Klong Talad. Exotic purple and red hues offer sweet and herbaceous scents for a sensory symphony.
A staggering three-headed elephant statue stands on a pedestal adorning the entrance of the Sumat Prakan Erawan Museum. The statue reaches a height of 95 feet above the bustling streets below. The heads glow pure green from the copper embellishments. You settle into the comforts of your lavish hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at your preferred pace. You can make your way along the river and into the canals on a long-tail boat. The fresh water propels the vessel into the antique suburbs that showcase the history of the city through its architecture and lifestyle.
Traditional houses made from teak wood rise along the riverbanks. The slower pace creates a tranquil atmosphere that contrasts the endless bustle of the city center. Houses on stilts stand beside mansions crafted with traditional Thai elements. The tower of Wat Arun soars above the surrounding streets. The spire rises to a height of nearly 230 feet tall and was originally erected in the 18th century. The drifting sunlight washes over the gems and stones blended into the architecture, causing the temple to shimmer in the light like a beacon.

The flow of the stops on this trip was perfect and all of the hotel choices were absolutely wonderful. We had three very outstanding guides, one medium guide, and one not-so-great guide (very nice, but wasn't familiar with the areas we went to).
We saw and did a variety of things that we really enjoyed (tea plantations and factory, mossy forest, wet-food markets, temple blessing, home visits, farm visits, rice fields, Vespa tour in Saigon, Viet Cong tunnels...). However, some days were a bit too busy, with too many temples and too much time spent in the car traveling in Bali. We adjusted on our own to get some downtime at the beautiful beach hotel in Bali by canceling some of the activities.
Overall, a really interesting trip, with new experiences, culture, and wonderful people.

The recommended hotels were nice. All flights were well coordinated; however, travel time between regions was not well thought out; in some cases, it took 2 days to get from one itinerary destination to another. We were dropped at the wrong hotel in one instance and pre-arranged fast track service was not provided in a major airport. Tour guides and drivers were ok. Many of the tours need to be revamped; some being pointless (planting rice in mud, taking a concrete boat ride through a shallow cave, cycling through rice fields on rickety bikes), others being unhealthy (a salt rice lunch, food tours), or way too far of a drive out of the way (the Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Minh City). More guidance should have been offered in selecting the travel months so as to avoid extreme heat and smoke pollution conditions in the first 3 weeks of our 6 week trip.

Overall, Zicasso’s travel agent was excellent. The agent was very receptive to our requests, planned our trip very well based on our input, and every arrangement was seamless, without any hiccups.
Singapore is quite humid and can get hot, more than Texas. With walking everywhere, it can be uncomfortable, so perhaps plan to visit in the cooler months, based on local agents’ feedback.
Vietnam was a surprise in all dimensions. It had very good infrastructure. The travel agents took fantastic care of us and the trips to Ninh Bình, which included a bamboo boat tour, and Hạ Long Bay, with a private boat tour, were noteworthy and must-dos.
Bali was a magical and mystical land, with extremely polite and hospitable people and an extraordinary guide who was calm and facilitated our tour so well. The early-morning Mount Batur hike, though moderately strenuous, was worth it, as the sunrise was spectacular, and the trip to the Jagasari area was peaceful and so insightful. I highly recommend staying longer than the four days we stayed and perhaps changing the location to the coast and north side, as traveling within the island from one spot to another takes a long time. The highlight was the kechak dance performance. It gave us goosebumps.
The arrangements were wonderful, with great accommodations and transportation.
Thanks to our travel agent.

Zicasso's travel agent did a wonderful job of arranging seamless, complex transfers from Java to Gili Air to Ubud, Bali, and provided great guides, drivers, and advice, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot and local currency on arrival. We did have an issue with hotels not reserved until a couple of days ahead and he promptly resolved the problem.
Our agent was a very responsive and prompt communicator. We would recommend!

We recently completed a 29-day custom-designed tour of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam with Zicasso’s travel company. As a couple, we have toured 100 countries on six continents. We always travel by ourselves and not in groups. We often plan and book our itinerary and activities on our own. We have experienced tour operators in the past who just string together “cookie-cutter” activities and call it a custom tour. I commend the travel company for not taking this path.
Our tour was completely tailored to our needs. We went through several iterations of the itinerary to match it to our interests and they were untiring in making adjustments to suit our particular needs. The hotels were all of excellent quality and very well located. The itineraries in each of the locations we visited met our expectations and addressed the interests we had discussed with the representatives of the travel company. All of the guides were good and several were amongst the best we have ever had. The support of the travel company was outstanding throughout our trip, with daily check-ins and immediate reactions when assistance was requested. I would rate the tour as exceptional. I unhesitatingly recommend the travel company.
