Romantic 8-Day Getaway to Peru

On your first full day in Lima, your guide will lead you around the city highlights. You will begin your tour beneath the shady palm trees of Plaza de Armas in the historic district. You will even be provided with an opportunity to view the catacombs of the Basilica and Convent of San Francisco of Lima, which is buried beneath the street. After your tour concludes, you will transfer to the Miraflores Lighthouse. As you traverse along the grassy hillside, you will learn about the Inca's efforts to protect the city of Cusco, primarily the Sun temple of Qorikancha. Your next expedition will lead you to the site of Tambomachay. Here, you can marvel at the glistening streams of water that sparkle in the sun. In the evening, you will return to Cusco for a relaxing evening in the downtown plazas. If you are feeling adventurous, you can even sample the regional delicacy of cuy, or guinea pig.

Today, you will glide through the breathtaking Sacred Valley. Your first stop will be in the charming neighborhood of Chinchero. You will be led on a short tour of the village that will teach you about the community's history in the Sacred Valley. Then, you and your partner will sit in on an authentic yarn dyeing class that will teach you about weaving and dyeing practices. In the afternoon, you and your partner will mount beautiful horses from a nearby resort town to explore the surrounding villages and farmlands. You will also make brief stops at the ancient Incan sites of Moray and Maras.

In the morning, you and your partner will board a luxury train that is destined for the town of Aguas Calientes. In less than three hours, you will pull into the station at your final destination of Aguas Calientes. As you step off the train, you will be met by your private transportation services who will escort you to your luxury accommodation. Soon, your expert guide will meet you in front of your hotel for a day of exploration at the internationally acclaimed ruins. Once you have reached the summit of Machu Picchu, you can discover key features of this ancient Incan citadel, including the Temple of Three Windows, the Main Plaza, and the Quarry Group.

You and your partner will awake to sweet sounds as you prepare for your return trip to Cusco. After a light breakfast, you will once again board a luxury train that will take you through the valley. When you arrive in Cusco a few hours later, you will be met by your local guide and escorted to the Cusco airport. From here, you will board a regional flight back to Lima before connecting to your international flight home.
