Detailed Description

Escape to a winter wonderland and spend six glorious days skiing in perfect powder snow. The Dolomites offer spectacular mountain scenery, some of the best ski slopes in the world, and lively snow parks. A premier skiing destination in Europe, the Dolomites are designated as a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site because of the region’s exceptional natural beauty. The unique scenery of the Dolomites is one of the world’s most impressive alpine landscapes. The Dolomites are located in the northernmost area Italy, known as South Tyrol—with a topography and culture similar to southern Austria. Striking pale rock mountains that soar to 3,000 meters (almost 10,000 feet!) in elevation, the Dolomites will inspire and invigorate you.

In this spectacular alpine setting, jagged spires of granite mountains punctuate the horizon like skyscrapers. The air is as refreshing and rejuvenating as the scenery is inspiring. You’ll be staying in the enchanting and chic alpine village of Corvara in the Alta Badia region. Most of the lodges and chalets in this area have a special charm, as they are modeled after traditional farmhouses. Corvara is a bustling ski destination located near the ultramodern Dolomite Superski Resort. The resort features the latest fast, yet comfortable, ski lifts and an extensive ski terrain.

Connoisseurs of fine food, wine, and culture will especially enjoy the Alta Badia region. This location is a gourmet paradise with many fine restaurants. After a long day on the slopes, you will appreciate the rustic Ladin cuisine—a hearty farmer’s style of cooking  made from simple local ingredients. Because of the region’s proximity to southern Austria, the cuisine is heavily influenced by Austrian cooking. Try some of the local specialties like barley soup and “turtres” (spinach and ricotta pockets). Typical desserts include “krapfen” (doughnuts) and strudel made with fresh fruits.

Everything went perfectly. We had such a good time. All our tour guides were expert historians. All the car pick-ups and trains went smoothly. We added a last-minute tour in another city and Zicasso's travel specialists were so accommodating. I highly recommend them.

Italy Vacation Review: Florence, Tuscany, Umbria, Local Cuisine, Museums, 14-Day Trip

My wife and I recently returned from our first trip to Italy and want to highly recommend Zicasso's travel specialist and her company for creating the perfect vacation for us. It was a two-month process of back and forth, but no matter what we asked of her, she delivered several options.

We had a perfect mix of historical Florence and its museums, and wonderful restaurants, and the Tuscany and Umbria countryside experience. And on our first day, when our flight into Florence got diverted to Milan, we had the peace of mind that our travel specialist was there to help with her much appreciated support.
