Split – The Terracotta Charms of Dalmatia
Split will win you over from first glance as terracotta tiles slope towards the shimmering Adriatic. White stone facades shine in the sun to juxtapose with super yachts and a tree-lined promenade. The streets are narrow and confusing, yet they have a charm that keeps you exploring. Everything emanates from Diocletian’s Palace, a grand centerpiece that was once the center of the world in the early 4th century. Roman Emperor Diocletian built the palace as his place of leisure, utilizing the natural protection provided by mountains surrounding the bay. Centuries later, and the palace still stands surrounded by a city of old-world beauty. After a private airport transfer, the day is free for you to explore the city and orientate yourself with the Croatian experience. Detailed Description
Croatia feels like a summer vacation even in the height of winter. Exquisite landscapes set the scene with the cliff-lined coastline complemented by lush national parks and archipelagos. Passionate people create the mood and are always eager to share their local loves as they ply you with fresh olives and boutique wines. The weather plays its role as well, sunny for most of the year and often balmy after dark. But most of all, it is the inimitability that makes Croatia feel so special. Savor the sultry atmosphere as you explore the great variety of destinations on an adventure that is all about the different angles, and it will not take long before you are wholly seduced.
Primarily focused on the Adriatic coastline, this unique vacation begins in Split and ends in Dubrovnik. Your several nights in between are spent on Hvar and Korcula, an island hopping interlude to two several night city stays. There will be something different each day as you discover the sultry cities and their breathtaking surroundings. Perhaps most memorable is the diversity of experience. For example, in Split, you will spend a morning in the medieval town of Trogir, and then an afternoon spent sea kayaking around Diocletian’s Palace. In Dubrovnik, there will be a day spent cycling in the hills and a morning walking along the walls with a visit to the world’s first underwater winery.
The Adriatic coastline has something for everyone, and this 12-day tour will provide everything you could wish for. The first few days in Split also include Krka National Park, a day spent river rafting and zip lining, and a visit to the cobbled town of Sibenik. Days spent on Hvar Island will include wine tasting and a day trip through the Vis and Pakleni Islands to swim in hidden lagoons and dine where the fishermen eat. Korcula Island is dominated by green valleys and marble streets laden with history. My trip, curated by Zicasso, was seamless. The travel specialist really listened to my wish list of places to see and things to do. The trip itinerary couldn't have been organized any better. It was so relaxing to have everything taken care of, including transportation. She suggested other options that may have been available. Free time to explore or relax was just the right amount for me. She was always available to assist if needed. I couldn’t have asked for a better vacation.

Zicasso's travel specialist, specifically Zicasso's travel agency, was fantastic! This travel specialist tailored our trip based on our conversations. She was thorough in her communications and provided us with excellent recommendations, along with top-notch arrangements.
We had one minor issue at our hotel, and she was quick to respond and successfully resolve it to our satisfaction. We would highly recommend this travel specialist for anyone traveling to Croatia and the surrounding area. When we return to Croatia, we will use her to help us plan another perfect trip! Thank you!!!

We were very pleased with all the arrangements that Zicasso's travel specialist made for us. Everything went smoothly and her recommendations as we planned the trip were right on. We might have cut our time in Ljubljana short if she hadn't suggested we stay two nights, and what a mistake that might have been! She knows the area and was extremely helpful in helping us form our itinerary, and she kept in touch electronically during the week in case we needed anything or had any questions. We were impressed with her service!
All the drivers were prompt, pleasant, and careful drivers. The local guides were good. I must mention we especially appreciated our guide in Pula, a mine of information on the history! And our guide at Lake Bled; she was informative and personable, thinking even to bring snacks and hot tea for a cool morning hike!

Zicasso’s travel specialist created a memorable and nearly stress-free trip for us. I can’t recommend this travel specialist’s services highly enough. She made getting from place to place easy and the local guides she chose were terrific. We saw so many places we would not have known about if it weren’t for the travel specialist and enjoyed them so much more because of our local guides

I told Zicasso’s travel specialist that my husband and I enjoyed food, wine, and culture, and he delivered in spades.
We experienced several different types of wineries and food tours/meals—from market tours to small wine tastings and meals in family-run farms and seaside, seafood gems. We had no idea that Croatia was such a foodie haven!
We especially enjoyed the smaller towns and Krka. Our guides and our drivers were very knowledgeable about the area and history, and we learned a lot. Generally, we liked Dubrovnik better than Split, as Split seemed a little more geared toward younger partiers, but we did have some amazing meals there.
Overall, we had an incredible 30th-anniversary trip to Croatia and would definitely recommend Zicasso’s tour operator.
