Casablanca – Cosmopolitan Welcome

Casablanca is a city set on the Atlantic Ocean. Contemporary culture abounds, thriving along the wide, palm-lined boulevards. The ocean spray mists into the air around La Corniche. The aromas of fresh seafood and indulgent spices emanate from restaurants around the esplanade. Locals stroll along the coastal walkway dressed up and ready to be seen. Men play pétanque in Parc La Ligue Arabe, a game similar to bocce ball. Small cafes fill with locals sipping strong, fresh brewed coffee and engaging in passionate conversation.

It is easy to imagine the gilded walls and conical light fixture fading behind the beauty of Piaf’s voice as she filled the house with eager listeners. Casablanca maintains a contemporary momentum deeply in touch with its historic roots. Hassan II Mosque sits on the coastline and boasts the largest minaret in the world, standing 690 feet tall. The mosque was built in the 1990s but is decorated with the traditional, opulent Islamic and Moorish styling that has enchanted visitors from across the globe for centuries. Basking in the splendor of Casablanca and Morocco continues on the next day.

Your 8-day tour of Morocco takes you from the capital of Casablanca, through the old walls of Marrakech, and the charming beachside city of Essaouira. Culture abounds and landscape lusters. From the foothills of the Atlas Mountains to the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean, the predictions of fortunetellers to the silken drapes of local vendors, your time in Morocco will shine with the excitement of endless discovery.

Your Moroccan vacation begins with your arrival in Casablanca. The city embodies Morocco’s contemporary culture, filled with luxurious hotels, decadent restaurants, lush parks, and Art Deco architecture that hearkens back to French colonialism. Your private transfer escorts you to Marrakech where you can explore the tremendous historic culture that continues to thrive inside the old city walls. Your private guide takes you along the city’s treasures, from the Bahia Palace to the Saadian Tombs.

Djemaa el Fna Square has established itself as the heart of the city, filled with ancient and contemporary activity. Morocco Trip Review: Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, Sahara Desert, Ait Benhaddou, Marrakech, Food Tour, Camel Ride, 8-Day Trip

Our trip experience was A+++ from the planning stage through the actual trip. We enjoyed a curated trip and it was fabulous.

Our assigned driver, our driver, was a gem—courteous, thoughtful, professional, and an excellent ambassador for Morocco.

Zicasso’s travel specialist picked only four- to five-star hotels and riads for us. We enjoyed the quality of our accommodations and the professionalism of our various guides we were assigned for our visits to Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara Desert, our desert camp, Aït Benhaddou kasbah, a night food tour in Marrakech, and Marrakech’s medina.

We feel like we experienced Morocco—the tagines, the call to prayer, the desert, the camel ride, the beautiful people, the lush and layered history, culture, and architecture, and the emergence of a new and modern Morocco. It was more than we expected, which makes it so special to us. We highly recommend the travel specialist!!!

Spain, Morocco Trip Review: Barcelona, Andalucia, Chefchaouen, Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Marrakech, Atlas Mountains, Architecture, Art, Riads, 2 Weeks

Flawless doesn't begin to describe how incredible and meticulous the planning and taste that went into designing our Spain and Morocco trip. I reached out to Zicasso’s travel specialist far in advance, describing a dream vacation for my husband and me that included a near-impossible amount of locations to cover through both countries in only two weeks. We had tried coming up with an itinerary with another planner prior to meeting the travel specialist, but it did not work out. When we shared our vision with the travel specialist, he materialized it on paper in a way that made sense and even made adjustments that fit within our budget. We got to see every location with enough time to savor each.

The order of travel from Barcelona to Andalucía to Morocco was an intricate weave that told a story of cross-cultural exchange. We started off with Gaudí architecture and the Sagrada Família, sunsets at the Puente Nuevo, Alhambra, and Córdoba, marveled at the grandeur of the mosque cathedral, savored seafood paella and Picasso art in Málaga. We finished off road-tripping in Morocco, starting from the blue city of Chefchaouhen, continuing our journey through Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Marrakech, and the Atlas Mountains. It was nothing short of magical.

We will never forget the beauty of the sun rising above the Atlas Mountains, private candlelit dinners on our private terrace in the riads, the colors of the souks, and the hospitality of our Moroccan hosts. Each riad was carefully selected and far exceeded our expectations. And of course, our driver in Morocco was an absolute delight and went above and beyond. Besides providing transportation, he acted as a friend who showed us the ins and outs, helping us see Morocco in a way that we would not have if we went in a large group or had chosen to come alone. Overall, my husband and I cannot recommend our travel specialist enough.

Morocco Tour Review: Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, Atlas Mountains, Sahara Desert, Marrakech, Camel Ride, 1 Week

Every detail of the itinerary was amazing. Thanks to Zicasso’s travel agent. From our driver to the riad and hotel accommodations, and each location we visited (Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Atlas Mountains, a camel ride at sunset with glamping in the Sahara Desert, and Marrakech), we were partnered with a local guide who showed us magnificent sights and enriched our experience with historical information. Everything was beyond our expectations!
