Detailed Description

The history of Iceland is full of tales of ocean voyages and epic battles along the mysterious landscape. Myths rise out of the rocks as legend shapes the culture found around the cities and villages across the island. Your 8-day tour will trace the history of Vikings in Iceland and will begin with your arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Your private transfer will greet you at customs and introduce you to the country with a visit to the Blue Lagoon where you can relax in the tranquil thermal waters before continuing to Reykjavik for the evening.

Wake the next morning, and your guide will lead you on an in-depth historical tour of Iceland’s capital and largest city. Visit the National Museum and Culture House, and then stroll along the historical Old Harbor before learning about the antique parliament building. The next day, you will visit the Thingvellir National Park to wander along tectonic plates, pass reflective lagoons, and find the boulder at which the first parliament of Iceland met. Venture to the top of Kaldidalur Mountain and view the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Continue the next day to discover the home of the famous poet Egil Skallagrimsson near Snaefelljokull National Park. Explore the landscape, view the glacier, and spend time inside the Bjarnarhofn Shark Museum. Discover elves and the Hidden People the following day as you begin the day with a visit to the home of Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson before traversing the majestic Dalabyggd region. Travel through Laxardalsheidi Pass and enjoy a boat ride from Hvammstangi village to search for seals along the coastline.

The next day, travel into the barren highlands to find the geothermal waters of Hveravellir. Follow the stories of outlaws and ghosts through the Kjolur Route before viewing Gullfoss Falls and the nearby spouting geysers, and then stroll through the medieval exhibits of the Njals Saga in the Saga Center at Hvolsvollur Village. Make your way next to view Skoga Falls and the Thorvaldseyri Visitor Center to learn about the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajokull. Iceland did not disappoint! From our arrival in Reykjavík to our final day at the Blue Lagoon, every moment was nothing short of magical.

A huge thank you to Zicasso’s travel consultant at the travel company for creating an amazing itinerary filled with the best Iceland has to offer. Iceland Travel Review: Reykjavik, Golden Circle, Snaefellsnes...

Working with Zicasso’s travel designer was incredibly seamless and enjoyable. He created an impeccable nine-day trip to Iceland that allowed me to see different sections of the island each day. From Reykjavík to the Golden Circle to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula to the Silver and Diamond Circles, I covered a lot of ground by renting a car and driving myself.

I really appreciated how responsive, fast, and thoughtful this travel designer was in planning the trip with a quick turnaround i.e., I only booked the trip a month ahead of my scheduled travel. He also checked in throughout the trip to make sure things were going well and helped me immediately rebook a whale watching-tour that was canceled on my first day due to weather. Having everything booked through him made it really easy for me, knowing it was all taken care of. All I had to do was show up.

I highly recommend Iceland as a destination, especially if you enjoy outdoor adventures, hiking, and exploring natural wonders—it's a magical place. I also recommend booking a trip through Zicasso’s travel partner. As a local Icelandic company, it's an excellent resource to guarantee a great experience!

Zicasso’s trip planner planned a perfect trip for us. She took into account our family size, the age of our daughter, and our needs perfectly. The tips included with the itinerary on what to eat and the weather were so helpful, and we were well prepared, so we could just focus on enjoying ourselves. The itinerary was flexible enough that we could deviate when needed and still have a great time.
