Detailed Description

You stand in an ancient wine cellar and feel the cool air. Uncountable barrels line the walls of the natural cave. Your private guide pours you a sample of the wine produced in the vineyard and the earthy aroma of the cellar blends with the limestone and citrus fruit nose of the wine. Your 8-day French food and wine tour in the Loire Valley and Bordeaux gives you a sampling of France. Go beyond the vines and into the tasting rooms of historic chateaus, along with discovering the eclectic beauty of the landscape, medieval villages, and exquisite traditional flavors of the land and sea.

Your flavorful journey begins with your arrival in Paris. Your France travel agent will have your private transfer meet you at the airport. You will be whisked into the city and brought to your centrally located hotel. Your guide meets you in the lobby ready to take you on a panoramic tour of the city, from the Grande Bibliotheque to Ile de la Cite where Notre-Dame is situated.

The following day, you leave the city behind making your way south to the Loire Valley. You stop en route in Orleans, home to Joan of Arc, before visiting the storybook edifice of the Chateau de Chambord. Visit the town of Amboise set alongside the Loire River. Later in the day you venture to the sensational Vouvray cellar, at the Domaine Marc Bredif, where you will sample some of the wines from the award-winning vineyard in the unique subterranean setting. Your guide leads you through the Tours, an ancient village made of narrow streets with 15th century timber homes. Continue to Chenonceau to see the Renaissance architecture of the riverside town.

Your guide leads you to Bordeaux, the famous wine-producing region in central France. From April to October, you have the ability to stop in Cognac and learn the technique of production before delighting in a tasting. Once in Bordeaux, you follow your guide through the remarkable streets lined with 17th and 18th century mansions.

Next, step into the Medoc Region for a wine tasting tour situated in the grand estates along the riverbanks. The following day, you make your way to Arachon on the Atlantic, exploring the villa, the bay, and the scrumptious oysters in the town of Le Cap-Ferret before returning to Paris. After breakfast on your last day, your private transfer meets you at your hotel and escorts you to the Charles de Gaulle Airport for your flight home.

France Trip Review: Loire Valley, Avignon, Castles, Gardens, Wineries, 2 Weeks

Over the years, we have traveled with Zicasso to Chile, Argentina, and Patagonia, and every trip has exceeded our expectations.

This year, we planned a trip to France, including the wine regions of the Loire Valley and Avignon, along with visits to the castles and gardens in both areas. Zicasso matched us with our travel specialist to bring this itinerary to life and she was exceptional in every respect. She took the time to understand our interests and planned a trip that perfectly matched our expectations. The hotels were excellent and the guides and drivers were friendly, communicative, and highly knowledgeable about the region’s history and the vineyards we visited. She was available every day and thoughtfully anticipated our needs, including ensuring that distilled water was available at each hotel for the CPAP machines used by the gentlemen. She also received our list of preferred restaurants and, without being asked, confirmed each reservation for us, an unexpected but much-appreciated touch.

As on our previous Zicasso trips, drivers were always there to greet us when we arrived at airports and train stations. The entire trip, including the hotel locations selected by Zicasso, was memorable and left us eager to return someday. Thank you, Zicasso, and especially to our travel specialist, for making this such an unforgettable vacation.

France Tour Review: Vannes, Loire Valley, Bordeaux, Carnac, Chateaux, Wineries, 2 Weeks

Zicasso's travel agent created a well-orchestrated trip in response to our desire to explore western France, principally to stay in three areas (Vannes, Loire Valley, Bordeaux), with local guides as we requested. Importantly, with a train strike to occur when we arrived in Paris, she arranged for a car and driver to get us to our first destination. Car-rental arrangements worked well and transportation assistance when we returned to Paris was much appreciated.

She continued to stay in contact with us to ensure a great experience. She arranged some nice surprises along the way. We highly recommend her.

France, Spain Tour Review: Normandy, Paris, Bordeaux, Basque Country, Mont Saint-Michel, San Sebastian, Food Tours, Wine Tastings, 17 Nights

I cannot make enough positive statements about our experience with Zicasso's tour company. The travel specialist and the other team members were phenomenal. We went from Normandy to Paris to Bordeaux to the Basque Country. The planning process for the trip was hassle-free. They asked all the right questions to ensure our trip had the experiences we wanted: food tours, wine tastings, museums, soccer games, D-Day, Mont Saint-Michel, and more.

The balance of planned excursions and free time was perfect. Every guide was professional, knowledgeable, and personable, but more than that, it was clear each guide loved what they did and had a passion for what they were showing us. Every hotel we stayed in was spot-on with the amenities we discussed in our planning.

The agency was accommodating and easy to get in touch with when needed. Our trip was truly a vacation; all the details were taken care of and all tickets were electronically available. I highly recommend using this travel company!

France Travel Review: Lyon, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, History, Food Pairings, Wine Tastings, 11 Nights

Our trip to Provence was fabulous. The three cities, Lyon, Avignon, and Aix-en-Provence, gave us a real sense of the region. The food, wine, and tours were all magnificent. The hotels were lovely and centrally located.

The five days in Avignon gave us a sense of the city and history.  All the guides were excellent and well informed. Our entire trip was well organized and the travel app which outlined our trip was “perfect." We were especially thankful for the drivers who were always on time.

We highly recommend our Zicasso travel expert and our travel company. We have never been disappointed with Zicasso.
