Detailed Description
Street musicians play as you walk along the River Seine. Sunset colors reflect off Florentine domes as you dine outside on a Tuscan piazza. Mountain panoramas extend as you enjoy the solitude of the Swiss Alps. In Rome, you walk in the legacy of greatness, and in Chianti, you drink wines at old-world vineyards. Along the way, there’s an alpine ice cave, popping Champagne corks and languid train journeys across the continent. This tour is the best of three countries optimized just for two, giving you time and space to be alone as a couple, while also showing you the icons of Switzerland, France, and Italy.
First, relax with some alone time. Land in Zurich, and transfer to Lucerne where your alpine lodge is halfway up the mountain accessible only by cable car. Breathe the mountain air, admire the endless views, and spend two days exploring the otherworldly landscapes. Staying in the Swiss Alps, you continue to Interlaken, another place of solitude away from the world. Dine on classic Swiss fondue, spend a day hiking and exploring the mountains, and find the space you need to start a romantic vacation. From Interlaken, it’s a short transfer to Bern before one of Europe’s high-speed trains whizzes you out of the Alps and into Paris, the most romantic city of them all.
With four days in Paris, the itinerary can be customized to your preferences. There is a lot to do and experience, but there are also many quiet pleasures this being a city where you’ll want to stroll around on your own. Visit the famous icons, from the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre to the Champs-Elysees. Take a day trip to the Champagne region and pop the most famous of all champagne corks. Explore the palace at Versailles or the one at Fontainebleau. Follow your nose on a foodies tour of markets and neighborhoods. You can rush Paris or you can see Paris in style, and to see it in style you need to slow the pace and appreciate the little moments.
From Paris, you fly to Rome and a three-destination tour of Italy. Ancient Rome is an inspiring place to start, and the inspiration continues across the river in the Vatican City. Travel into Tuscany and two nights in Siena, a small city of cobblestone and intrigue. Here you go wine tasting in Chianti, see the best of nearby Pisa, and get a feel for old-world Tuscany. Finally, Florence, a city of pure elegance. Admire the art, continue the Italian food adventure, and find your own Renaissance in the city of Michelangelo, Brunelleschi, and Palladio.
