Detailed Description

A true journey allows you to experience the wonders of contemporary culture and tradition through a historical lens. Your custom tailored tour will immerse you in the heritage of the Andes and offer insight into the history of indigenous peoples and the arrival of the Spanish, altering the course of the Americas embodied in life, art, and architecture from Ecuador to Colombia. Your adventure will begin with your arrival in Quito, Ecuador. The city is viewed as one of the most beautiful in South America, treasured for its scenic views, relaxed pace, and colonial charm. Your private transfer will escort you from the airport to your luxurious hotel located in the historical city center.

The next day, your guide will meet you after breakfast and lead you on an engaging tour of the city’s monuments, from the Monastery of San Francisco to the treasures in the temple of La Compania de Jesus. Venture to the Equatorial Monument for the unique experience of visiting the point where the equator divides the hemispheres. Wake the next day, and travel from Quito to the enchanting rural luxury of Zuleta. Traverse the grounds of a 16th-century estate to learn the history of the hacienda and see a preserved working farm. Visit the gardens, wander the library, and learn how the estate produces its own cheese. Continue the next day to take in the beauty of the countryside at your leisure. Take a horse and carriage ride through the Andean plain or visit ancient pyramids built by pre-Incan peoples situated on the hacienda property. You could also visit a local condor conservation project.

The following day, you will make your way to the Ipiales to see the breathtaking sanctuary of Las Lajas, a neo-Gothic structure built above a gorge. Continue to the Quito airport for your flight to Bogota, and upon your arrival at El Dorado Airport, your private transfer will escort you to a luxurious hotel in the historical district of La Candelaria. The next morning, your guide will meet you at your hotel eager to take you on a whirlwind tour of Bogota’s fascinating past, embodied in the colonial architecture and artifacts in the Gold Museum. Outside of the city, you will visit the unique Zipaquira Cathedral, located inside ancient salt mines.

Move on the next day as you fly from El Dorado Airport to Cartagena, a city nestled against the Caribbean Sea. Your private transfer will meet you at Rafael Nunez International Airport and take you through the various districts of the city before arriving at a charming hotel in Old Town. Begin the next morning exploring the exotic flavors of regional cuisine on a half-day food tour before continuing to the stunning grounds of San Felipe d Barajas Fortress. The next day is at your leisure to delight in the wonders of Cartagena and the surrounding region. Visit the white sand beach on the Rosario Archipelago or wander the distinctive winding colonial streets of Mompos, a colonial town built on the former banks of Rio Magdalena. Conclude as your private transfer will collect you at the hotel and escort you to Rafael Nunez Airport for your flight home.
