Soaking up Cape Town's Atmosphere
Land in Cape Town and Table Mountain is unmissable. As you're transferred from the airport, an iconic postcard image comes into view, the mountain standing proudly above the ocean and a city of colors. This natural backdrop seems to imbue a relaxed atmosphere, one that pervades throughout the city and then stretches northwards across the continent. Nothing is rushed in Africa. And even when you're in the city, it's easy to unwind. The rest of today is left free, and you'll probably want to head straight for a couple of famous attractions. The Waterfront area offers sublime ocean views and many of the city's finest restaurants. Or a revolving cable car takes you to the summit of Table Mountain for views that stretch almost to the tip of Africa. Should the iconic tablecloth of mist descend upon the mountain, it's just a 15-minute taxi journey to Signal Hill, where you get a 360-degree view of an ocean sunset, Table Mountain rolling mist, and city lights slowly flickering on. Detailed Description
Southern Africa is filled with nature's pleasures. Rhinos wandering wild within earshot of Victoria Falls, vast elephant herds crossing lush river channels, penguins basking on beaches beside Cape Town city. There's always an inspiring view, whether you're gazing out across the Atlantic Ocean from Table Mountain, or watching buffalo herds from a luxury camp verandah. Every view and every destination are very different, each presenting another side of a mystical continent. This African Safari itinerary has been handcrafted to fuse the disparate destinations, taking you to three countries in just 12 days. Experience the colors and charms of South Africa, get lost in the wilderness of Botswana and feel nature's powerful presence in Zambia. Local flights provide easy connections, so the itinerary isn't rushed, especially when downtime at the lodge includes watching a procession of big game wander past. In less than two weeks, you get an authentic snapshot of Southern Africa, one that's packed with its iconic highlights.
Start in Cape Town, the city flanked by Table Mountain and one that radiates a vibrant atmosphere. Nature defines the city, with towering peaks and ocean views an unmistakable highlight. Spend three days exploring, including a journey through the Cape Winelands and a day on the Cape Peninsula. Think wild penguins on the beach, meeting vineyard owners, fabulous restaurants, and thousands of friendly faces. The city is an ideal starting point in Africa, a showcase of both natural splendor and welcoming culture.
Fly to Maun, and transfer onto a small plane for a scenic flight above the Okavango Delta. Your Botswana safari experience is split across two destinations, starting with the waterways of this gargantuan oasis in the desert. Take a canoe safari through channels filled with hippo pods, game drive through wildlife abundance, and sit back and listen to the natural soundtrack of the wild. Another micro flight brings you to Linyanti, a thrilling private concession that epitomizes the diversity and intimacy of African safari. There's a chance to go on a walking safari and enjoy nighttime game drives during your two days here, along with more classic safari activities. Don't think about glimpsing merely a few animals. Think of being amongst tens of thousands of elephants, all the big cats, and a succession of Africa's great mammals.
The only mammal missing from the Botswana safari is the rhino. So when you hop to Livingstone in Zambia, you enjoy a half-day rhino-walking safari. With the great mammals resting in the afternoon sun, you're guided on foot to within ten meters of them. It's an experience that wonderfully portrays their size. Livingstone is also the base for visiting Victoria Falls, and you'll be able to hear the world's most powerful waterfall from your lodge along the Zambezi River. Monkeys swing around; hippos occasionally appear from the river, and like every day on this itinerary, there are hundreds of panoramas that seem to symbolize the raw essence of the continent.

We just returned from a fantastic two-week trip to Africa, coordinated by our Zicasso travel agent. We started in South Africa (Cape Town/Franschhoek), then went up to Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls), and to Botswana (Chobe National Park and Okavango Delta). Every step of the trip was well coordinated and seamless. The guides and accommodations were fantastic and comfortable.
I can't say enough positive things about our travel agent. She is the most detail-oriented and responsive travel agent I have ever worked with. She has extensive knowledge of travel in Africa and was able to provide outstanding recommendations for every question we had for her. She checked in with us regularly during the trip to make sure everything was going well, which was greatly appreciated. She genuinely cared about providing us with the best experience possible. I highly recommend using her and her agency if you are thinking about traveling to Africa!

Zicasso's travel partner planned a trip for us that exceeded even our very high expectations. We started our search by contacting three travel agents and explaining what we wanted in terms of timeline, cost, and experiences. Our travel agent came back with a plan that was exactly what we were looking for. He clearly understood that our main goal was a variety of experiences, a trip that included Cape Town and Victoria Falls, safaris where we could have a chance of seeing the Big Five, no driving of our own, a pace that would not leave us exhausted, a price that would not break our budget, accommodations that were comfortable but not extravagant, and to end our trip sitting by a beach for several days. He managed to do all that and more.
The result was a 33-day trip in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique that included all of the above, plus two days of whale watching, two days in the heart of South Africa's wine country, with multiple winery visits and tastings led by a very knowledgeable guide, three safaris (11 safari days in total), and six days relaxing by the Indian Ocean at an amazing, intimate, foodie paradise complete with free daily massages.
He also arranged all transfers ‒ car and large and small planes ‒ and had someone help us find a good deal on our transatlantic flights. Every vendor he selected was excellent and there was not a single glitch the whole trip, despite the numerous transfers.
What impressed me the most was his knowledge of all the properties and the thought he put into the ones he suggested, including the order of our stays. For example, he gave us plenty of time to relax and explore the Cape Town, Hermanus (whales), and Stellenbosch (wine) areas before going on our safaris. He then had our first safari stay be a tented camp. It was very comfortable and we enjoyed it immensely, seeing four of the Big Five there. Then, he stepped us up to somewhat fancier accommodations for our second safari, also an amazing experience, where we saw the last of the Big Five and the quite rare wild dogs (or painted wolves as they are sometimes known). Our last safari stay was one he had to talk me into because it seemed like the accommodations were fancier than what we were looking for or needed. However, he assured me that the experience would also be a step up, and wow, was he right. While the accommodations were great, what made the experience perfect was the knowledge of our guide, his tracking ability, and the unique location of the reserve, which even in drought conditions had a river running through it that attracted lots of animals we hadn't seen elsewhere. Our safaris were all on private land adjoining unfenced game reserves, so the animals could travel freely back and forth. We weren't faced with a slew of other vehicles vying to see the animals and we were able to go off-road to better track the animals we were following.
The back-and-forth dialogue with our agent in the planning process was something I truly appreciated. While some people might want to just set a budget and get a final itinerary (which I'm sure our agent can do), I wanted a more interactive process where he would give us different options and we would discuss the pros and cons, and then come to a decision. No question was too stupid and he never tried to rush us. I would book with him again in a heartbeat and have already recommended him to several friends.
On top of all I've already mentioned, he was fantastic when we had to delay our trip for a year because I learned shortly before we were going to go that I had to undergo chemotherapy. He was great in helping me make my claim on my travel insurance and in working with the properties so I was out very little money at all. And amazingly, when I was finally cleared to go, he was able to rebook almost exactly the same itinerary we had originally planned. There were also some other nice surprise extras he arranged, but I won't spoil them for you by saying what they were. I will say, however, that I can't imagine a more perfect trip or a more perfect travel agent to work with!

This was an unforgettable trip that my wife and I will always cherish. It was our second time visiting Cape Town and we truly enjoyed exploring different parts of the city that we hadn’t seen before.
I highly recommend experiencing a safari at Matetsi in Zimbabwe. It was absolutely incredible. While in Zimbabwe, a visit to Victoria Falls is an absolute must.
Zicasso's travel planner and her team were fantastic, addressing any concerns we had and recommending excellent restaurants for dinner, which made our experience even more special.

Zicasso’s travel agent was a delight to work with. He turned our extremely ambitious wish list into a two-week dream itinerary that included stays in Cape Town, the Winelands, a safari lodge, and Victoria Falls, and ended with three nights aboard a houseboat on the Chobe River. All accommodations were superb and perfectly situated for enjoying the local scenery and culture.
We transitioned from the cosmopolitan beachside vibe of Cape Town’s Camps Bay to a safari lodge that looked out on a busy watering hole frequented by hippos, zebras, elephants, antelopes and giraffes. We took advantage of many excursion opportunities: shark-tank diving, a swim in Devil’s Pool above Victoria Falls, a helicopter ride over the falls, ziplining, wine tasting, quad biking through vineyards, and a visit to an elephant sanctuary that included interaction with the animals.
Thanks to our agent’s meticulous planning, each day flowed seamlessly into the next. Transportation to and from airports and excursions was handled by a friendly cast of drivers and guides, all determined to make sure we had the best experience possible. We went to bed each day feeling like it had been the best day of the journey. It’s rare for my expectations to be exceeded, but our agent and his team did just that. It was an extraordinary experience.
