Rome – Eternal Charms

Rome is a city of imperial legacy and artistic riches. This was the heart of an empire in which temples stood as testaments to devotion to Byzantine mosaics depicting the tales of Old and New Testaments. From Renaissance frescoes offering intimate, humane depictions of heavenly characters to the grandeur of palaces framed with baroque piazzas, Rome radiates the charms of its past set in the antique architecture, hidden streets, and outdoor ambiance. Legacy and legend emanate from the Colosseum and the Pantheon. Traditional cuisine provides alluring aromas drifting from historic restaurants offering pasta carbonara and cacio e pepe, a cheese and pepper pasta dish.

Your flight lands at Fiumicino Airport, where your private transfer meets you at baggage claim. Settle into your hotel in the heart of the historic city center. The lobby inside what was once a private villa embodies the lavish lifestyles of the Roman aristocracy in the form of elegant furniture, marble floors, and gilded window frames. Your guide meets you in the lobby eager to escort you through the celebrated elegant piazzas of Rome for an introductory tour. You begin in Campo de’Fiori to find the marketplace wrapping up for the day.

The sweet aroma of fresh flowers lingers amidst the remaining florists packaging sunflowers and azaleas. The alley framed by historic palaces whisks you away from the bustling openness of Campo de’ Fiori to find two fountains at the heart of Piazza Farnese. The basins were crafted out of ancient granite tubs taken from the Baths of Caracalla. A stone iris crowns each fountain, which was the symbol of the Farnese family. The rosy palace was designed in the 16th century and completed by master architect Michelangelo. Much of the palace was erected using materials taken from the outer Colosseum’s abandoned grounds. The family coat of arms adorns the central balcony above the main portico.

Your tour begins with your arrival in Rome. Your private transfer meets you at Fiumicino Airport and escorts you to your lavish hotel in the historic city center. You meet your guide in the lobby for a tour of the elegant piazzas of the Eternal City, from Campo de’Fiori to Piazza di Spagna.

The following day, your guide relishes the wonders of Ancient Rome on a guided tour of the Trajan’s Market, Capitoline Hill, Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. Following your exploration of Rome’s past, your guide introduces you to a charming café in which you can relax with a wine tasting tour while watching the city-goers pass by. Then, you have a full day tour of Vatican City’s splendors, taking you through St. Peter’s Square, the Basilica, and the celebrated museums.

Enjoy the city at your preferred pace the next day with a chance to wander the streets at your leisure. Visit the shops along Via del Corso or visit the opulent collection of artwork in Villa Pamphilj before your private cooking class with a local Roman chef. Italy Honeymoon Review: Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Pompeii, Vespa Tour, Food Tour, Wine Tasting, 12 Days

We had a wonderful honeymoon in Italy! It was easy to coordinate with Zicasso’s travel specialist; she heard what we were interested in doing and seeing, and she planned a seamless vacation. The travel from point to point was easy, we had knowledgeable drivers and guides as we visited new places, and the hotel and restaurant recommendations all led us to perfect spots we wouldn't have found on our own. We had a great time in Rome and Florence, and in the countryside in Tuscany, and would absolutely consider Zicasso again for future trips.
