Detailed Description
In a country of wilderness, there is always somewhere new to explore. That will be your mantra for these two weeks in New Zealand. You will go rock climbing on sacred Maori land after the landowners have provided you with an official welcome. There will be a jet boat ride to a wilderness picnic on private land, a helicopter tour through remote Fiordland, hiking, rafting, cruising, canyoning, and adventures in the water. Led by some of the country’s best outdoor guides, this is an exclusive tour that focuses on handcrafted activities that simply are not possible anywhere else. It is not about the things that you can do, but the feeling of adventure in places that other people do not have the luxury of seeing.
Much of the tour involves helicopters. There are no roads to the places that you will be going, nor do you have time to visit them on foot. Every flight is a scenic one, offering stunning views into volcanoes, across fjords, over mountain chains, and along the coast. Jet boats are another means of travel and will lead you down rivers to private tracts of forests and valleys. Then, for your final three days, you will be cruising in a chartered yacht, which is the finest way to explore the tropical waters of the Hauraki Gulf. Helicopter transfers allow you to easily combine the four main destinations, which are Glenorchy and Abel Tasman on the South Island and Taupo and the Hauraki Gulf in the North.
After flying to Queenstown, you will spend your first four nights in Glenorchy, which is on the quieter side of Lake Wakatipu. You will ease into the outdoors with a jet boat picnic on day two before exploring remote Fiordland on day three with a helicopter tour. Focusing on the wild and inaccessible landscapes that are north of Milford Sound, your tour can include lakes, rainforest, glaciers, beaches, high-country wilderness and an exceptional seafood barbecue. On day four, you will have the choice of taking a Heli-Hike or going heli-skiing before flying into Abel Tasman on day five. Here, you can explore the coast on a private charter, go canyoning in an ancient rainforest, and fly to a remote experience in the Kahurangi Ranges.
Flying into Taupo will be a real highlight. The helicopter will soar above active volcanoes before touching down at your lakeside retreat. Here, there is wilderness, white-water rafting, and a day of rock climbing in private Maori land. As with many of the other days, it is only through connected local guides that you are afforded access to some of these places. This is not just New Zealand untouched; it is the chance to see parts of the country that although explored by some, have not been documented. You will culminate these two weeks with three days on a private yacht, where you can plot a route that is based on your interests and mood. There can be spearfishing, uninhabited beaches, snorkeling, diving, and a helicopter ride to Cape Reinga and the country’s northernmost point.

We had a great experience with Zicasso’s travel company. They connected us with first-rate activities and knowledgeable guides who shared so much about the wildlife, beauty, and history of New Zealand’s South Island.
We especially loved Abel Tasman, the overnight in Doubtful Sound, and traveling off the beaten path to Stewart Island.
The travel company was responsive to our needs for pacing our activities and accommodations.
A big shout-out to the travel specialist, who worked with us every step of the way and was even available in real time during our travels! The travel company helped make our journey a trip of a lifetime!

I did not generally think this tour agent was as good as others I have used through your services. They did not seem as willing to arrange a first-class trip, particularly designed for me and my partner. Our favorite part of the trip was our overnight in Doubtful Sound, which I felt I had to arrange. Several of the views of the city (Queenstown and the Needle in Auckland ) were fine, but just the usual tourist deal and expensive. I would have preferred a half-day private tour of Auckland, for example. We wanted a half- or full-day fishing trip, which was kind of an add-on.

Overall, the trip went off without a hitch, besides a cyclone that hit the North Island in New Zealand. It ended up not being a factor for us as we flew in and out of Auckland on time.
There was a potential strike at Air Tahiti when we were supposed to fly to Bora Bora, but we managed to avoid that as well. The only excursion we didn't get to do was the jet boat tour, as high amounts of rain caused the river to get so high, they had to cancel.
We didn't get to do the helicopter flight from the cruise at Milford Sound because not enough folks signed up for it. We knew that going in though and weather wouldn't have allowed it anyway. We were able to schedule our own helicopter tour later that day and had an enjoyable time.

The trip was well organized. We had a lot of connections to make with cars, vans, trains, buses, airplanes, and ferries. In good weather or bad weather, the drivers were all excellent and most shared the history of New Zealand as they drove us around.

The itinerary was awesome! We had a few snafus with hotel reservations, but they were quickly resolved. The tours were perfect and all private, with excellent guides. The pace made good use of the time we had and maximized seeing the most locations in our time frame. The hotels were beautiful (especially the one in Queenstown, WOW!) and the rooms were perfect for our needs (kitchens and laundry). It was so great having everything pre-booked and guided, as it allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip and not worry about logistics. It was a trip of a lifetime.
I would highly recommend this Zicasso travel agency! When traveling so far away, it made such a difference to have everything coordinated by a professional. I have had many people ask how we managed to do so much with the time we had. Now, I don't think I can travel any other way.

Zicasso’s tour planner created an amazing trip for us. He was quick to respond with initial planning and tailored the trip to our personal interests, thus creating a true customized experience. His expertise, advice, and recommendations were invaluable.
Our itinerary allowed us to see and do so much during our trip, including museums, galleries, Māori cultural experiences, a lake-side day spa, geothermal park, Hobbiton, Mount Cook, a harbor tour, Milford Sound, a scenic railway trip through the Southern Alps, hiking, and dining, etc.
We enjoyed each of the selected accommodations.
The New Zealand touring app was an amazing resource and contained perfect details for each excursion and accommodation check-ins. Questions that arose during the trip were always answered in a timely manner over the app. Essentially, the stress of planning a two-week, multicity road trip was eliminated and all the hours I would have spent planning this itinerary myself were avoided. I would highly recommend the company.
