Auckland - Independence Day (One)
Land in Auckland ready to explore and enjoy New Zealand’s most populated city. Sky Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere, tops the city skyline, the spiraled point sticking into the clear sky. Wander through lively Queens Street on your way to the harbors where the heart of the city can be seen pulsing. The salty smell of the ocean comes on the back of the breeze that blows through the streets. The sails from boats lining the harbor jut into the air giving the city its nickname, “City of Sails.”
Visit the Auckland museum located in one of New Zealand's most historical buildings situated in a central city pleasure garden. The scent of roses lingers beneath your nose from spring to autumn and the crisp cool breeze blows in the winter. The exhibitions are exciting, full of artistic integrity and Pacific culture. Monumental carvings decorate certain exhibits, shaved from local trees, polished and shiny in their frozen faced adaptation of traditional spirits. Canoes and replicated communal buildings remain unobstructed and unimpeded for everyone to understand the cultures that have made up the current face of New Zealand. The Auckland War Memorial Museum is another of the museum’s efforts to commemorate the country’s past. An empty tomb on a pedestal stands without decoration or religious symbols to help honor those that fought for the Common Wealth during World War I. The contrast of commemorating the native soldiers lost in battle with commemorating the native culture is among the important understandings of a country coming to terms with its past and is part of the beauty that New Zealand offers as a reward to those willing to find it.

Overall, the trip went off without a hitch, besides a cyclone that hit the North Island in New Zealand. It ended up not being a factor for us as we flew in and out of Auckland on time.
There was a potential strike at Air Tahiti when we were supposed to fly to Bora Bora, but we managed to avoid that as well. The only excursion we didn't get to do was the jet boat tour, as high amounts of rain caused the river to get so high, they had to cancel.
We didn't get to do the helicopter flight from the cruise at Milford Sound because not enough folks signed up for it. We knew that going in though and weather wouldn't have allowed it anyway. We were able to schedule our own helicopter tour later that day and had an enjoyable time.

We appreciate all that Zicasso’s travel company did to make our trip to New Zealand such a fantastic experience. Everything was planned out perfectly and we enjoyed every minute of it. The accommodations in each town were wonderful and the excursions, tours, and tastings were all delightful. Having our own drivers also allowed us to really enjoy the scenery and to not have to worry about getting from point A to point B across the South and North islands. The travel company was there for us from the very beginning as we started planning the trip, until we returned home, and was very responsive and helpful every time we reached out to them.

The itinerary was awesome! We had a few snafus with hotel reservations, but they were quickly resolved. The tours were perfect and all private, with excellent guides. The pace made good use of the time we had and maximized seeing the most locations in our time frame. The hotels were beautiful (especially the one in Queenstown, WOW!) and the rooms were perfect for our needs (kitchens and laundry). It was so great having everything pre-booked and guided, as it allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip and not worry about logistics. It was a trip of a lifetime.
I would highly recommend this Zicasso travel agency! When traveling so far away, it made such a difference to have everything coordinated by a professional. I have had many people ask how we managed to do so much with the time we had. Now, I don't think I can travel any other way.

Zicasso’s travel company did a phenomenal job with stays, tours, and activities. In particular, we loved our room at our hotel in Tasmania, our villa on Waiheke Island in NZ, and our room at our hotel in Melbourne. Our itinerary was well thought out and exposed us to exactly what we'd hope to see in Australia and New Zealand.

I did not generally think this tour agent was as good as others I have used through your services. They did not seem as willing to arrange a first-class trip, particularly designed for me and my partner. Our favorite part of the trip was our overnight in Doubtful Sound, which I felt I had to arrange. Several of the views of the city (Queenstown and the Needle in Auckland ) were fine, but just the usual tourist deal and expensive. I would have preferred a half-day private tour of Auckland, for example. We wanted a half- or full-day fishing trip, which was kind of an add-on.

We selected this travel company through Zicasso and are thrilled we made that decision. We worked with a travel specialist whose knowledge helped us determine the journey we wanted to take through New Zealand, the types of activities and tours we should do, and the best places to stay in the cities, towns, and villages we wanted to see. She provided a list of hotels and activities to choose from.
All of the suggested activities were amazing: well-led, accessible, and breathtakingly scenic. Our trip, almost 30 days in length, was simply outstanding. The hotels were generally great and while we did our own research on many of the restaurants we booked, the several she suggested were excellent.
The travel specialist listened to what our interests were and helped us plan a trip accordingly, keeping our budget in mind. We can wholeheartedly recommend this travel company.
