Detailed Description

Laos combines a passion for cuisine with enchanting natural splendor. Your 10-day Laos itinerary teaches you the importance of flavor and how the landscape shaped the culture, beginning with your arrival in Luang Prabang. Your private transfer greets you at the airport and escorts you to a stunning hotel at the heart of the imperial city. Settle into the comforts and luxury of your accommodation before venturing to the top of Mount Phousi for a panoramic view and introduction to the temples of the ancient capital. In the evening, you can stroll through the night market for insight into the bustling culture of cooks, patrons, and artists. The next morning, your guide leads you on an in-depth tour of the morning market.

Buy fresh ingredients from vendors before delighting in a cooking instruction, which takes place in an outdoor kitchen overlooking a gorgeous lake. The remainder of the day is yours to visit the renowned temples and relax in the serene ambiance of the city. Then, you visit the Elephant Village to meet the rescued and rehabilitated elephants protected within the grounds. Enjoy a ride on the elephant to the river for a fun and memorable bath before venturing to the Tad Sae Waterfall on a soothing boat ride. Explore the galleries of the Royal Palace Museum before flying from Luang Prabang to the capital of Laos, Vientiane. After settling into your gorgeous hotel, enjoy a private tour of the sacred temples of the city and the Victory Monument.

You traverse the Wat Si Saket temple complex before a cooking class along the banks of the Mekong River. Your second lesson provides a more in-depth tutorial on Laotian cooking, along with the etiquette of cooking, eating, and cuisine. Fly to Pakse in the morning. Your private transfer leads you to Bolaven Plateau for a tour of a private coffee plantation, which continues to thrive in the cool temperatures of the highlands. Continue to an ethnic minority village to learn about the culture of the locals and the history of the peoples. Next, you have a half-day tour of Wat Phou, an ancient temple complex connected to the Khmer Empire. In the afternoon, you board a boat for a Mekong River cruise in search of Irrawaddy dolphins.

Relish a quiet morning in Champasak before viewing the roaring cascades of Khone Phapheng Waterfall. Take a long boat across the river to reach the shores of Don Daeng Island, a part of the renowned 4,000 Islands. The day is yours to revel in the serene ambiance of island life or enjoy a spa treatment at a resort in Champasak. You could also visit the woodcarving village of Ban Nong Bueng for a unique view of artisanal life in the countryside. On the final day, you travel across the Mekong and continue to Pakse Airport for your flight home.
