Phnom Penh – The Boulevards of Phnom Penh

Welcome to Phnom Penh, the eclectic capital of Cambodia. The city continues to hold remnants of its French Colonial past. Wide boulevards run alongside the Mekong River. The scent of fresh pressed coffee mixes with the luscious fragrance of ripe bananas. Palm trees tower over the riverbanks. Shops line the streets and have open displays that allow you to see into the store. The local market is colorful, filled with vibrant textiles and fresh produce, from spiky jackfruit to succulent mangos.

The city is filled with allure for both you and your children, from rich history to tasty cuisine. Your private transfer meets you at the airport and escorts you to your hotel. The city is a mixture of ancient and contemporary history and which includes a bit of everything, from the elegant to the tragic. Your private tour of the city will take you to Tuol Sleng Prison Museum where you will learn about the short but vicious rule of the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s. The museum is also known as S-21 and was once a school. As a prison it held up to 20,000 people.

The complex has four main buildings. Building B is home to the photo galleries that document the prisoners and history of the prison. The checkered-tile floor shifts between deep yellow and faded white. The photographs show people that were once held within the prison walls. The history of S-21 brings to light the unparalleled spirit of Cambodians. That unbreakable energy is apparent in their smiles and the boundless bustle of Phnom Penh’s streets. After lunch you will watch a local dance class where children have the opportunity to learn about their culture through the grace and persistence of traditional movement.

Vietnam, Cambodia Trip Review: Hue, Temples, 11 Nights

We had a very well-planned trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. The hotels selected by Zicasso’s travel specialist and her team were all very nice and different in style, which is just what we wanted.

All of the guides were very knowledgeable and very well-versed in the history of their particular area. As we had three different guides, I could not say that one was better than the other, as they were all good, and the drivers were very attentive and more than willing to assist if needed.

I have traveled quite a lot and I would have to say this was one of my top three trips. Thanks to the travel specialist for a super trip!

Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos Travel Review: Elephant Experience, Monk Blessing, 17 Days

Our trip far exceeded our expectations. Every component of the trip was well planned and seamless. The hotels were perfect for us. We enjoyed the balconies a great deal.

The guides and drivers could not have been better. They were polite, always on time or early, accommodating, and incredibly knowledgeable. In Cambodia, it was very hot and we were biking. The driver would just show up at times with water and cold towels for us. We felt so pampered. Guides would rearrange the schedules according to the weather and our wishes. They even added events that we were interested in. One guide even offered to do an extra food tour one evening since he was free.

There were so many highlights arranged by the Zicasso travel company I cannot name them all. They included the day with the elephants, a blessing by a monk who took time to chat with us, the alms-giving at 6am in Laos, and even a private dinner in a literal treehouse.

This was a vacation of dreams. It could not have been better. I would recommend the travel company without any hesitation. Probably the best travel company we have ever dealt with!
