10 Days Off the Beaten Path Tour of Southern Italy and Sicily

Your 10-day journey will begin when you land at Naples International Airport, where a private driver will greet and transfer you to your luxurious accommodation. After breakfast in Sorrento, you will transfer to Matera. Beautiful landscapes will surround you during your ride, and you will stop in the town of Castelmezzano to break up your journey. Your tour will allow you to view the Lucanian Dolomites mountain range in addition to partaking in an exhilarating zipline from Castelmezzano to another nearby town. With excitement still in the air, you will continue your ride to Matera. After checking in to your accommodation, you can enjoy the evening at your leisure.

After breakfast this morning, you will indulge in a trip to the town of Alberobello. After a short boat ride, you will arrive, and your guide will begin your tour. You will walk around the charming roads and visit some trulli homes, which are unique structures that have become a staple of Alberobello. These unique dwellings are age-old stone huts with a cone-shaped roof. After your tour, you can have some free time to wander into the local stores before returning to Matera for the night.

After a relaxing morning, you will transfer to Cosenza. Upon your arrival, you will head to your accommodation, where you will have some time to relax after your transfer. When you are ready, your guide will lead you on a private nature hike in the nearby Sila National Park. Breathtaking views can be found around every turn, and you will be in awe when you reach one of the peaks of the Sila Mountains. Once your hike concludes, you will return to Cosenza for the rest of the evening.

This morning, you will have a relaxing start to the day. You will have time for a short stroll around Cosenza before transferring to Reggio Calabria. When you arrive in Reggio Calabria, you will have to board a ferry for a short ride to the island of Sicily. When you reach Sicily, you will then have to ride through the countryside to your final destination of the day, Catania. After checking in to your accommodation, you will have the remainder of the evening to spend at your leisure.

After breakfast, you will venture out for the day’s activities, which will feature visits to the city of Syracuse and the island of Ortigia. Your guide will greet you in Syracuse to begin your tour. The entire city of Syracuse is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and some of the best examples of the city’s history and culture can be found in the Neapolis Archeological Park. You will also visit the Greek Theater and the Roman Amphitheater. After your immersive discovery in Syracuse, you will cross a scenic bridge to the island of Ortigia. Once your tour concludes, you will return to Catania for the night.

After breakfast this morning, you will transfer to Palermo. As you travel around the scenic roads, the city of Enna will be a great place to stop and explore. It will also be nice to break up your journey. A guide will lead you around some of the best spots in the city, and the views here are incredible. Once your tour of this unique city concludes, you will continue to Palermo. Once you arrive at your accommodation, the evening will be yours to enjoy however you see fit.

Your itinerary for the day will feature an intriguing visit to the Capuchin Catacombs. After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the entrance of the catacombs to begin your tour. You will feel the temperature lower as you follow the narrow staircase down into the catacombs. The Capuchin Catacombs are home to the largest collections of skeletons and mummified bodies in the world. Once this memorable experience concludes, you will enjoy the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure.

This morning, you will have some free time to explore the charming roads of Palermo one last time. Soon, you will return to your accommodation to gather your belongings. When you are ready, a driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
