Upon your arrival in Sydney, your private driver will be ready to whisk you away to your accommodation. After settling in and having some much-needed downtime to regroup, you will embark on a relaxing dinner cruise through Sydney Harbour. After your feast is complete and the last rays of the sun have disappeared beyond the horizon, you will return to the Sydney dock, feeling completely satisfied. Sydney – Helicopter Ride Over the Harbor

You will officially begin your Australian journey by exploring the metropolis of Sydney. From the famed Sydney Opera House to Luna Park, your guide will introduce you to the cultural and historical highlights of this gorgeous city. You will even be able to stop at the historic Rocks area, which is the iconic locale of Sydney’s first settlement. Following your tour, you can window shop and stroll around some of the enclaves that particularly strike your fancy. Sydney – Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves

After departing Sydney, your guide will lead you on a lovely drive to the Blue Mountains National Park, where your first destination will be Echo Point. After a leisurely climb to its scenic overlook, you will be rewarded with one of the most spectacular views in the entire country. You will then be provided with the opportunity to stop by a few of the charming towns that surround this UNESCO World Heritage Site, including Katoomba, Laura, and Blackheath. Afterward, your tour will continue to the famed Blue Lake. A stop at the jaw-dropping world of the Jenolan Caves will follow, and here, you will be amazed by this awe-inspiring destination that dates back nearly 340 million years.

Sydney – Tour of Canberra

A trip to Australia would not be complete without spending time exploring the nation’s capital city of Canberra. En route to Canberra, you will have a side trip to the charming town of Sutton Forest, where you will have the opportunity to walk along its charming streets and to enjoy a cup of tea amid the picturesque scenery. After arriving in Canberra, your guide will introduce you to the capital city’s highlights, including the Parliament House, the National Museum, the Captain Cook Memorial Fountain, the National Library, and the Lodge. You will then have the opportunity to tour the War Memorial.

Sydney – A Performance at the Opera House

In the morning, you will depart from your Sydney hotel and be led to a wilderness area on the outskirts of the city, which is a beautiful space where the Australian wildlife can be viewed in its natural habitats. You will also encounter a seemingly endless amount of kangaroos, which are known to frequent the area. After making friends over the wild animals that you have chanced upon, you will venture on a scenic route back to Sydney that will have you heading down the picturesque Parramatta River on a relaxing ferry ride. This evening, you will attend a performance at the world-famous Sydney Opera House.

Sydney – The South Coast of New South Wales

Today, you will discover the glory and splendor of the South Coast of New South Wales, which will include the sensational scenery of the Southern Highlands and the Grand Pacific Drive. The first town of Thirroul will welcome you with a morning tea. Kiama will be your next destination, and this is where you will gaze in awe at the famous Kiama Blowhole and its powerful sea plumes. You will then venture away from the coastline until you arrive at Mt. Cambewarra Lookout. Afterward, you will make your way to Kangaroo Valley, where you will eventually arrive at Fitzroy Falls. We were pretty late in arranging this trip and Zicasso and our travel company did an exceptional job! We feel like we saw the best of Australia in our two-week trip. The private guides for our tours (Sydney, Blue Mountains, Daintree, Cape Tribulation, Zootastic) were wonderful, informative, engaging, and responsive to our requests and our nine-year-old's endless questions! We felt cared for and even a little spoiled. This certainly exceeded our expectations and was one of the best vacations ever!

I shared a general timeline and a few preferences—personalized travel, small-group tours, and a focus on scenery, food, and local experiences. I even casually mentioned that, since I pack light, laundry options every 7 to 10 days would be a bonus.

Wow—did the travel specialist deliver.

Private city tours in Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne. A Blue Mountains excursion with a local resident. Wine tastings, a foodie walking tour in Melbourne, and fabulous centrally located hotels that made exploring on foot effortless. The Ghan train journey was an unforgettable highlight.

And yes—lodgings with on-site laundry right on cue around day 10 and day 20. Not bad for a “casual” request!

Everything went great with our trip. A couple of small, unforeseen hiccups were well managed by Zicasso's travel agency. We had a flight cancelled due to mechanical issues that would have set us back by a day. The agency was able to reroute us via a different airline so our trip itinerary could stay intact. Also, there was an issue with our Sydney Opera House tour (due to a Sydney Opera House issue) and they were able to send us the necessary information very quickly so we could go on the tour.

Zicasso’s travel specialist was great to work with. She anticipated our needs and was quick to respond with information and to answer questions. She set up a great trip for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Australia. We had a couple of issues with the tours that were set up for us and they were quickly resolved, with great results.

On our visit to Kangaroo Island, the small-group tour subcontractor mishandled our connection on the island; their recovery was to send a personal guide to spend the day with us and also provide us with dinner! It ended up being one of our best tours. Many of our small groups were just my wife and myself, sometimes with one or two others.

We also had a very rainy and windy day the day we were supposed to go out to the Great Barrier Reef. It was a weekend and the travel specialist was on vacation. That said, the on-call person was amazing in rearranging one of our other small-group tours for that day and we were still able to go to the reef two days later.

All in all, I would highly recommend the travel specialist and her company. They were great up front and great during the trip.
