Detailed Description

For the wine connoisseur, Australia and New Zealand have it all. Warm and cool climates, unique geography, 200 years of cultivating grapes, world class vineyards famed for their exports, and boutique wineries tailored to the discerning local palate. While each region has its own specialty, these spectacular countries offer a stunning variety that always elevates the senses. With this handcrafted winery tour of Australia and New Zealand, you'll visit five renowned wine regions. Spend two days in each, usually one day exploring their world famous specialty, and another discovering the boutique brilliance that lies off the tourist trail. Expert guides unveil the local favorites and a private chauffeur ensures there's no need to worry about the driving.

Every day combines a rich diversity of choice; charming local farms with 150 years of history, innovative modern wineries full of characterful creations, family owned cellars, and sumptuous tasting menus at exclusive vineyards. And while the wine provides the indelible focus, you're always exploring some of the planet's most spectacular rural scenery. Complementing the natural immersion is a fabulous collection of accommodation, including private cottages, vineyard spa retreats, and renowned five-star resorts.

Fly to Sydney and begin the wine discovery in famous Hunter Valley, Australia's oldest wine region providing a delicate start with its citrus-flavored whites. Pair the elegant flavors with local crab and prawns and don't forget the outstanding Shiraz produced in this warm climate. Explore two famous cities, a local guide showing you the iconic sights of both Sydney and Melbourne. Then you head into the Yarra Valley, the cooler climate bringing a different collection of treats. Local Chardonnay is particularly famous, but these vineyards also revel in rare delights like elegant Marsanne and Gewurztraminer. After a day of tasting, soak up the tranquility of the Balgownie Estate Vineyard and Spa, an example of the sumptuous accommodation to expect on this luxury vacation. Some of the world's oldest Shiraz vineyards can be found in the Barossa Valley, and this final Australian stop epitomizes the harmonious blend of radiant nature, boutique accommodation, and long days sampling the region's finest grapes.

Fly over to New Zealand and Queenstown, losing yourself in the rugged fjords and mountains that surround the town. Expect pinot noirs bursting with character, and dramatic scenery unrivaled anywhere on the planet. Most wine critics argue that Marlborough is home to the world's finest Sauvignon Blanc, and you'll spend a day searching out the most vibrant bottle. New Zealand's wine experimentation takes its lead from Marlborough, and your guide will also reveal vineyards that embody the distinct full-flavored style of the region. While the wineries guide the journey, expect to indulge in serene destinations that exude elegance and charm. And don't worry about having to decide which bottles to take back home. The expert guides will assist in getting everything shipped back to your own private cellar.

Australia Travel Review: 2 Weeks

After months of working with Zicasso’s travel specialist designing the perfect itinerary, I was grounded by my cardiologist and unable to take the trip. With regards to the travel specialist, she was such a pleasure to work with, an excellent communicator, humorous, punctual, keen on detail, and focused on customer satisfaction.

Australia, New Zealand Trip Review: Sydney, Cruise, Private Zoo Experience, Ayers Rock, Great Barrier Reef, 3 Weeks

All four of us who traveled to Australia and New Zealand this fall agree that Zicasso’s travel specialist did a fantastic job assisting us with planning and the actual trip itself. She listened to our itinerary, wants and desires, as well as the time constraints and budget. And while we did spend quite a bit more than what we originally intended, we had the trip of a lifetime. We are all completely satisfied with our journey, as organized by the travel specialist.

New Zealand Vacation Review: Nelson, Mount Cook, Queenstown, 20-Day Trip

From planning to execution, Zicasso’s travel specialist was fantastic. They were very responsive through the app while we were on the trip. They were extremely helpful in helping us recover our passports that we forgot in one of the hotel safes.

New Zealand Trip Review: 9 Weeks

Our trip was incredible. Zicasso’s tour operator was fantastic in planning and executing this special trip. We were in New Zealand for almost nine weeks.

Twice during our travel, we were able to get instant help to adjust our travel schedule, once because we wanted more time in one place and later to accommodate for being sick for a week.

Our trip involved 20 different hotels, inns, and guest houses, while experiencing boats, trains, and car driving to navigate both islands. The tour operator helped to arrange about 50 different events for us and then we added in many more ourselves before we left.

It has been almost a year since we traveled (Feb-Apr 2025). We have praised the tour operator (and Zicasso) to all our friends for its incredible attention to details and help anticipating all contingencies. The app for the trip was incredible in supporting the travel and collecting all the details of the arrangements comfortably in one place on our cell phones. We drove more than 2,000 miles during our trip and used Google Maps continually to navigate everywhere.

All our accommodations were comfortable. We carefully planned our packing to match the temperatures predicted for each location. We each traveled with a carry-on suitcase and a small backpack, and had everything we needed.

What helped with our planning was that we actually rehearsed the trip for several nights two months before we left and pre-planned special dinner reservations.

Australia, New Zealand Vacation Review: Adelaide, Lizard Island, Kangaroo Island, Milford Sound, 1 Month

This was our second trip organized through Zicasso and both trips were great. In retrospect, we might have changed a few things, but by an overwhelming margin, the trip was great. Interesting tours, knowledgeable guides, nice hotels.
