Your Turkish experience begins when you arrive in Cappadocia. The region is famous for its lunar landscape and unique villages. The cities are shaped by, and even incorporate, the rock formations known as “fairy chimneys.” Their name derives from their distinctive forms. Visit the Goreme Open Air Museum to see the churches that were carved into the caves. The following morning you will make your way to the underground city of Kaymakli before visiting Soganli Village to see the rock cut churches and the Taskinpasa Mosque.
Travel along the Silk Road to visit Pamukkale, a mineral-rich hillside that is known to the locals as “cotton castle.” In the morning you will visit the ancient cities of Hierapolis and Aphrodisias. The afternoon will bring you to the Aegean coastline at Kusadasi. Ephesus is a remarkable ancient metropolis that dates back thousands of years and is home to the House of Virgin Mary, the location where Mary spent her final days.
The following day you will arrive in Istanbul and enjoy a guided tour through the city’s iconic sites. From the Blue Mosque to the Grand Bazaar, you will find architecture and culture abound.
