Porto – Sail down the Douro River
When you land in Porto, your private driver will greet and transfer you to your accommodation in the city. After having some time to relax and settle in, you will sail down the Douro River. For your tour, you will be guided by a local fisherman on their actual boat. After enjoying the gorgeous views during your sail, you will return to your accommodation for the evening. You will have the remainder of the evening to spend at your leisure.
Ponte De Lima – Archaeological Wonders
Your first full day in Portugal will find you heading to the archeological site of Citania de Briteiros. This well-preserved Celto-Iberian village was once entirely walled and is believed to have been the final stronghold of the Celtic-Iberians. This area affords visitors breathtaking views of the valley. Following your time at Citania de Briteiros, you will head to Ponte De Lima and spend the night. After checking in, you will have some free time to spend at your leisure.
Ponte De Lima – Kayaking and Touring
After breakfast this morning, you will embark on a kayaking excursion. Ponte de Lima is well-known as being one of Portugal’s most beautiful areas. Following your kayaking adventure, you will have the rest of the day to explore Ponte de Lima town on a private tour with a guide. As you make your way among the charming assortment of houses and plazas, you will instantly understand why Ponte de Lima is one of the most beloved towns in Portugal. Afterward, you will enjoy an authentic al fresco feast at one of the town’s restaurants of your choosing.
Serra da Penada – Hiking and Glamping
Day four finds you heading to the northeastern region of Portugal to witness the wonders and beauty of Serra da Peneda. This is just one of only two areas in the country that have been officially listed as part of the country’s Peneda-Geres National Park. Here, you can spend the day hiking with nature. During your hike, you will pass the picturesque ruins of a 16th-century castle, a cascading waterfall, and a few interesting villages. Upon the end of your hike, you will arrive at your glampsite, where you will have a luxury cabana.
Miranda do Douro – Informal Cooking Course
This morning, you will transfer to Miranda do Douro. Upon your arrival, you will be treated to a private tour. The site is known for having a lively history of folklore. A unique sight that you will see here is the Pauliteiros de Miranda, which is a famous stick dance that is performed with the people dressed in their traditional white flannel kilts. Legend has it that the fascinating dance’s origin can be traced back to the Iron Age. Following your tour, you will have the incredible opportunity to journey to your host’s home, where you will be taught how to make the local meal of Posta Mirandesa.
Piodao – Peruse Piodao Village
After breakfast this morning, you will head to the picturesque village of Piodao, where you will spend day six perusing the historical gems that are hidden in the area. When you arrive, you will embark on a private tour. Your tour will lead you to tiny houses with slate roofs, the varied streets, and staggered staircases that somehow manage to blend in with the surrounding scenery. After having a majority of the day to explore the village, you will have the remainder of the evening to spend at your leisure.
Serpa – Portugal’s Finest Fare
This morning, you will make your way to Serpa. When you arrive, your guide will treat you to an amazing day of exploration and enlightenment. Serpa is known for its sheep’s milk cheese. Your tour will begin in the medieval heart of the city. While you wander the streets and witness the Clock Tower, you will also sample many culinary treats, such as spicy cheese made from curdled sheep’s milk. After a full day of exploring, you will return to your accommodation in Serpa.
Sao Domingos – A Former Mining Town
Upon your arrival in Sao Domingos, you will feel an eerie sense of mystery that exudes from the former mining settlement. With a guide, you will wander among this deserted town’s rows of tiny mining cottages. This trek will take up the majority of your day. You will be led among offices, old machinery, and ruins of the railway workshops. As the evening descends, you will head to a local farmstead and spend the night. Alcoutim – Algarve’s Most Peaceful Town
Today, you will have an overnight trip to Alcoutim. Here, you will be treated to a peaceful escape from the crowds and introduced to a lovely resident castle. The locals are welcoming and kind. When it comes time for your midday meal, seafood from the nearby river is most likely what you can expect to enjoy at the majority of the local establishments. As Alcoutim’s economy is still dependent upon the mainstays of agriculture and handicraft, you can also look forward to enjoying shopping opportunities.
Alcoutim – Departure
Today will be your final morning in Portugal. You can indulge in a relaxing breakfast before having an hour or two to explore the city once more. Soon, a driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.

This will be followed by a trip back in time to Miranda do Douro, where you will witness an authentic folk dance and learn how to make a delicious Portuguese dish from a secret family recipe.
The village of Piodao will be your destination for day six. After spending the day delving into the past among its historical gems, you will head to Serpa on day seven to taste some of the country’s finest fare, including fresh sheep milk’s cheese.
Day eight will find you heading to Sao Domingos, which is a former mining town. Here, you can explore the ghostly remnants of a once-thriving town before spending the night on a unique and fascinating working farmstead. Your final stop on your exploration of Portugal will be Alcoutim, which is known as the Algarve’s most peaceful town. Here, you can escape from it all and roam among the town’s resident castle.
