Detailed Description

Cuba has an ineffable draw to musicians around the world. It is the birthplace of danzón, a center of salsa, and an exporter of rumba. Your 8-day tour of Cuba introduces you to the fusion of art and sound, forming a unique jazz-like experience. Your musical tour begins with your arrival at Jose Marti International Airport. Your private transfer meets you at baggage claim and escorts you into vibrant heart of Old Havana. Enjoy an introductory walking tour of Calle Obispo and indulge in your first taste of Havana sound at a local restaurant. The following day, your guide leads you on a remarkable architectural tour of the old city.

Traverse the alleys of an artist market and visit a local private brewery. In the evening, you witness the special cannon ceremony. Tour a private publishing house to view handmade bookbinding. You also see how hand-crafted paper is made. Continue to the town of Matanzas to partake in a performance of an African folklore dance troupe. Next, you make your way to the eco-community of La Terrazas. Visit a local school and meet an artist whose studio overlooks the lake.

Antique coffee plantations and a unique canopy zipline tour offer different experiences of the region for you to enjoy. Wander alongside the art of Havana and stroll through the Museum of Fine Art and the Museum of Music, offering insight into Cuba’s long connection with sound. Then, you have the chance to enter a Cuban recording studio. Your guide plays an eclectic array of bands which were all recorded in the studio. Stroll along the Afro-Cuban neighborhood of Callejon de Hamel where music and art combine.

The day culminates with the jazz-like expression of artistry at Fusterlandia, an expression of Jose Rodrigues Fuster. The following day takes you to an organic farm in the suburbs of Havana, where your guide effortlessly links music and crop cultivation. Once at Earnest Hemingway’s former home, you can hear the sounds of his sentences harmonizing with the music of Cuba. Return to the heart of the city to take in a jazz performance in one of the many popular venues. On your final day, your private transfer meets you at the hotel. Soon you will board your flight home, but you wish to have one last listen to Havana’s endless music.
