Detailed Description

After touching down in San Jose, your adventure begins by exploring Tortuguero Canals National Park. Home to a labyrinth of natural waterways, Tortuguero offers visitors the unparalleled opportunity to explore the depths of this misty rainforest by land and by sea. On your privately guided excursion, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the relaxing peace of nature without the distraction of loud city sounds. Vines and thick foliage surround the waterways, and the deep green of the jungle stretches as far as the eye can see. Sea turtles poke their heads out of the water, and your guide will direct your attention to iguanas and crocodiles who linger on the lagoon’s shores.

Next, you will take a private transfer to Arenal, which is Costa Rica’s most active volcano. You will discover the vast enormity of the volcano as you follow your guide through the Las Coladas Trail. As you hike, you will savor the fascinating nature that surrounds you. The clouds swirl around the volcano’s mystical peak as Lake Arenal shimmers in the sunlight below. At the end of your hike, your guide will direct you to one of Arenal’s most famous attractions, the majestic 400-year-old Ceiba tree, which stands at 164 feet.

The following morning, your private guide will escort you further into the Arenal region. You will unwind by basking in Arenal’s mineral-rich hot springs, soothing your adventurous muscles as you breathe in the misty air of the jungle. Next, you will journey to the iconic La Fortuna waterfall where you will refresh your spirit as you plunge into its waters, admiring the 75 meters of cascading waterfalls that lie above and the luscious rainforest that envelops the scene.

On the next day of your vacation, your private transfer will escort you to the Monteverde region. You will absorb in picturesque views during your drive from the tropical Caribbean into the misty Pacific Slope. Upon arriving in Monteverde, you will have the exciting opportunity to uncover Costa Rica’s history and vibrant culture. You will meet your guide for a private tour of an organic coffee plantation and breathe in the sweet aromas of sugar cane, bananas, and pineapple that grow throughout the fields. From handpicking the seeds to grinding the beans, you will witness the entire coffee farming process before sampling a freshly brewed cup.

On the next leg of the adventure, the scene shifts to the hazy Monteverde Cloud Forest. Here, you will have the opportunity to channel your adventurous spirit as you soar between mountains by zipline at exhilarating speeds. Suspended in the open, humid air, you will experience the weightless feeling of flying through the clouds with gorgeous jungle views at every turn. On your trip’s final stop, you can relax on Manuel Antonio’s pristine beaches, basking in the Costa Rican sun one last time before heading back to San Jose. It was a nicely prepared and executed trip. The staff was responsive and seemed quite knowledgeable. The local vendors used were all professional, seemed passionate about what they do, and were quite accommodating and flexible.

Costa Rica Tour Review: Tortuguero, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Arenal, La Fortuna, Wildlife, Ziplining, River Rafting, 12-Day Trip

I was immediately impressed by Zicasso’s travel agent’s professionalism and the initial outline he prepared after reading my notes of what we’d like to do on our trip.

His revision included most everything we wanted to do (even the pineapple tour!).

As an event planner myself, I understand the amount of work and time it takes to prepare an itinerary. He nailed it!

Costa Rica Vacation Review: Sailboat, Wildlife, 1-Week Trip

Zicasso’s travel company did a great job with our tours. Our dedicated driver added so much to our vacation. The house and views were fantastic. Wildlife was abundant.

The only thing I would change would be the sailing trip, as three of us got seasick. This kind of boat was awful for those of us who suffer that fate—a catamaran, which I have been on many times without getting seasick, would have been a better choice for us. We saw pilot whales!

Costa Rica Travel Review: Arenal Volcano, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Ziplining, Whitewater Rafting, Canyoning, Waterfall, 10 Days

Zicasso’s travel specialist was absolutely amazing! I appreciated his insight and help when I initially presented my preferences. I think he did a fabulous job organizing our schedule and answering all my questions. He was always attentive and thorough. Later on, when his co-worker took over, she was also very thorough in explaining and answering any questions I had. Most of our tours were absolutely fantastic.

We had a great trip and highly recommend others visit Costa Rica. Zicasso’s travel agent recommended great hotels and activities, and found outstanding local guides. We were amazed by the local wildlife that infused each element of our trip. The travel agent was responsive throughout the trip, including when we needed to change transportation arrangements because of a delayed flight.
