San Ignacio – Introduction to Belize
Your flight will land at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport, where your private transfer will meet your family and escort you deep into the remarkable jungle terrain to your luxurious eco-friendly accommodation. After settling in to the comforts of your accommodation, the remainder of the day will be yours to enjoy the secluded destination as a family by walking along the Medicine Trail or visiting the butterfly farm. San Ignacio – Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary
The marvels of the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary will welcome you with nearly 200 square miles of preserved jungle terrain. The lush and dense forest terrain supports flocks of neotropical birds in addition to wildcats, grazing tapir, and elegant deer, which represents the incredible biodiversity through a mosaic of rugged landscapes. A marked trail will lead you from the visitor’s center deeper into the jungle, where you will find the colorful beaks of keel-billed toucans as they forage for nuts. The sanctuary protects approximately 20 jaguars that live and hunt within the tree canopy.
San Ignacio – The Mayan Ruins of Xunantunich
When you are ready, you will meet your guide and travel to the fascinating site of Xunantunich, which is one of Belize’s most impressive archeological sites. Your family will delight in traveling across the waters of the Mopan River by a classic hand-cranked cable ferry, and the warmth of the tropical jungle will blanket the complex upon your arrival. Your guide will lead you among the deserted homes and preserved architecture that reflect the depths of the Mayan civilization. You can climb the steps to the top of the structure to earn the reward of a panoramic view of a classic Maya settlement and the eastern frieze.
Ambergris - Delight in a Zipline Tour
Today, your family will indulge in an exhilarating zipline excursion that will have you gliding through the trees. Your guide will escort you from your hotel to the base of your adventure in the rainforest, where you will travel up to 75 feet above the forest floor along a series of elevated platforms. During your ziplining adventure, you will be able to hear the chatter of the birds hidden in the trees. You can also visit the famous Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave before reaching Ambergris Caye. Here, you and your family will discover the surprising Crystal Maiden, which is a skeleton of a woman covered in calcium carbonate.
Ambergris – Hol Chan Marine Reserve
After breakfast, you will board a boat and venture to the heart of Hol Chan Marine Reserve, which covers 4,448 acres on a natural break in the reef. Here, you will plunge into the tropical waters with your guide for an incredible snorkeling tour within the marine gardens. During your expedition, you will discover the spectacular hues of the reef. The protected marine area offers refuge for sea anemones, curious moray eels, and sea turtles.
