Day 1

Montreux – Arrive in Geneva and Travel to the Majestic Town of Montreux

Montreux earned its fame in the 19th century after writers, artists, and musicians flocked to the lakeside resort town to bask in the marvelous shimmering water of Lake Geneva. Your flight will land at the Geneva airport, and your private transfer will meet you at baggage claim. Leave the airport and embark on a scenic drive along the shore to take in the reflective image of the mountains as they spread across the lake. En route to Montreux, you will stop in the Lavaux wine region as the tiered vineyards rise the hillside. The scents of rich earth and sweet grapes fill the air as a trail travels across the hills to connect the small towns, quiet vineyards, and medieval brick structures.

The region covers nearly 2,000 acres and begins in the medieval town of St. Saphorin as the narrow cobblestone alleys meander alongside the antique buildings. Winegrowers’ homes from the 16th to 19th centuries sprout out of the vineyards outside of town, and the original church steeple acts as the image on many regional wine bottles. Step inside a traditional wine cellar for a sample of the Chasselas, a dynamic grape that offers a range of fruity, floral, and mineral essences and absorbs the best flavors from the soil and imparts them into the wine. The cellar has a cool temperature, lit with dim, inviting lighting while your glass of wine has a pale lemon color with a scent of apple and citrus. The crisp, fruity taste lingers on your palate and provides a perfect, refreshing welcome to Switzerland before you continue to Montreux.

Switzerland Travel Review: Grindelwald, Alps, 1-Week Trip

Zicasso’s travel expert was very easy to work with and tailored our trip to our needs. We went to places in Switzerland that we had not known before and also got to revisit places we had been to decades ago. We all had a wonderful time.

Switzerland, Germany Travel Review: Mountains, Animals, Cheese Tasting, Chocolate, 2-Week Trip

My nephew and I had the trip of our lives in Switzerland and Germany. Zicasso's tour operator booked our entire trip. Every day came with its own adventure. They helped us out when we encountered a train issue and they were able to work with us when a medical issue unexpectedly arose.

Switzerland Trip Review: Scenery, 9 Nights

We had a wonderful trip to Switzerland. Zicasso's travel designer did a fabulous job with our itinerary. The hotels were perfect, with beautiful views. His suggestions were great, such as the suitcase pick-up from hotel to hotel, a driver at the beginning and the end of our trip, restaurants, and day trip suggestions. I would highly recommend him and the tour company if you are considering a trip to the beautiful country of Switzerland.

Switzerland, Italy Trip Review: Lucerne, Alps, Milan, Last Supper, Walking Tour, Boat Ride, Private Guide, 17 Nights

The attention to detail was impeccable. Every night, we received a summary of the day, comments, and assurance that all went well. I had contact numbers and was able to speak with Zicasso staff daily if necessary. There were some weather-related glitches, but weather is out of our control. The advance reservations and private tour guides were all on time, informative, and a pleasure.

Italy, Switzerland Trip Review: Lake Como, Venice, St. Moritz, Lake Cruise, Cooking Class, Private Tours, 11 Days

We had a wonderful trip to Italy and Switzerland! Zicasso's tour operator did an excellent job with planning and executing the trip. The agents were always prompt with communications and details. Our hotel accommodations were all outstanding and our tour guides were as well.

We had one hiccup on our last day when a driver didn't show up, but the agency was quick to respond with a driver, so we were only delayed about 40 minutes.

We loved every minute of our trip and we would highly recommend the agency!
