Detailed Description

Myanmar is a delight for a camera lens. The landscapes blur boundaries into the surreal, from jungle-clad temples to undulating hills dominated by serpentine rivers and tiny untouched villages. Astonishing monuments provide a focal point, like the ancient temples of Bagan, the golden facade of Shwedagon, or monasteries hidden amidst the hills. Portraits are like no other; tattooed tribe villagers, traders in stilt village markets, junior monks, and a hundred smiling faces whenever you produce the camera. There are so many possible angles, and you will find it impossible to define Myanmar with just one. Instead, this 13-day itinerary takes you across the country to reveal its different photogenic sides, covering famous attractions and very off the beaten track destinations.

Myanmar is not an easy place to photograph. Dust can swirl, the light can be difficult, and many of your subjects have rarely been captured on camera. But those keen on for a challenge will find a country that is wrapped in mystique and charm. Images are raw; high on impact as they portray a realm that's unknown to most of the world. Rather than a photography tour that seeks to encounter classic and iconic scenes, this itinerary is centered on inspirational and impromptu opportunities. There's no hype in Myanmar, no must-capture image. Every photographer, regardless of their skill level, discovers a destination with a generous soul, one that can be demonstrated in so many different ways.

With a specialist photographer guide, travel across Myanmar. Start in Yangon as the colonial relics and golden pagodas make for an intriguing introduction to the area. The bustling streets and faded charms provide an iconic series of prints that could have come from 120 years ago. Bagan's ancient temples offer the subjects as your days continue, thousands of flamboyant sandstone structures that lead you into Buddha images and 800-year-old murals. From here, cruise along the river to capture life along the banks of the mighty Irrawaddy.

After these iconic destinations, hone your skills with the Myanmar landscape, as your travels take you into a very remote and unseen world. Stop at Inle Lake, Sittwe, and Mrauk U to journey to the places and people that may never have been before the camera lens. Visit tattoo tribe villages in Chin State, photograph fish markets at sunrise, cruise through stilt villages on the water, visit a nunnery and novice monastery, and find a series of 700 temples that are wrapped around the jungle in Mrauk U. Each day is filled with rare photographic opportunities; a distillery hidden in a palm shack, fishermen rowing with their legs, tribal elders with faces etched in ink. The recent evolution of Myanmar's flight network means most journeys are relatively short and through the air, maximizing your time on the ground amidst the surreal subjects.

Italy Tour Review: Wine Tour, Cooking Classes, Local Cuisine,...

Zicasso’s travel company was wonderful in planning our trip on short notice and in line with our requests and preferences. Their suggestions of what to do and where to stay were perfect. And when we accidentally got off on the wrong island, the travel company quickly got us new ferry tickets to get to the right place. It was all seamless.

Iceland Tour Review: Selfoss, Nature, 5-Day Trip

Although the trip had a few bumps, Zicasso’s travel agency was excellent to work with. Our travel agent was responsive, informative, and had an excellent app (which he improved upon before we went away). He checked in regularly to make sure everything went smoothly and took all the pain out of self-traveling, which was the whole idea!

Greece Tour Review: 2-Week Trip

Five stars are not enough! From the moment we connected, Zicasso's travel agency curated the perfect trip from start to finish. It was almost as if they knew the ins and outs of my family and our desires; they knocked it out of the park.

Traveling with two teenage girls, accommodations were important to us. Our hotel choices were perfect, spacious, and centrally located. Every tour was perfect, curated, and personal.

As first-time international travelers, we were a bit anxious. We were constantly supported by the travel company, getting our questions answered immediately at all times of the day or night. We had the trip of our dreams and could not have done it without this amazing agency.

Our travel agent was a delight, a mind reader and a consummate professional. The most sincere appreciation to all on this stellar team. I will shout this agency's name to everyone I know planning a trip. Thank you!

Canada Vacation Review: Quebec, Gourmet Walking Tour, Bike...

All activities were very well planned and generally good choices. The tour guides were generally good, also. Our Zicasso travel company needs to review the night ghost tour. It was actually pretty terrible. Our group of about 25 didn’t enjoy themselves and, along with us, many left before the end.

The entire transportation plan was excellent and drivers were always on time and very polite. The accommodations at both hotels were excellent.

Thank you.

Italy Honeymoon Review: Rome, Sorrento, Cooking Class, Private...

This trip was the greatest week of our lives! Everything planned was better than I could have imagined. The private drivers being coordinated behind the scenes made the trip so easy and removed all the stress of trying to navigate a new country. Every driver and our tour guide was so nice and I feel like we made friends with all of them.

My favorite part of the trip was definitely the cooking classes and that every tour was private and intimate for my wife and I. The connections Zicasso’s travel agent hooked us up with made the trip the most memorable experience. Our travel agent and the travel company took special care of all the tiny details of the trip; our hotel knew it was my birthday and had a special surprise for me! I’m beyond thankful for the perfect honeymoon they provided my wife and I.
