Detailed Description

This trip begins by immediately launching you into the wilds of Africa in Amboseli National Park. With Mount Kilimanjaro acting as a backdrop to this portion of the safari, this tour spends two days watching elephants, giraffes and lions cruise across the picturesque plains. Spend an afternoon visiting a local Masai warrior community, learning about their unique culture and agricultural practices. From Amboseli, you will detour quickly through Tanzania’s Lake Manyara National Park, home to countless numbers of flamingos and the unique tree-climbing lions. From a lodge perched atop a ridge, guests can admire the alkaline lake and mixed forest that characterize this region.

From Manyara, you will move on to the infamous Serengeti National Park. The park’s substantial lion population allows guests to watch multiple prides interact with the surrounding ungulates. Rhinoceros, leopards, and cheetahs dot the sidelines of the stage set for the world’s greatest migration of wildebeest. With sunrise picnics, evening sundowners and the opportunity to sail over the Serengeti in a hot air balloon, guests will spend two days experiencing the serene magic of this park.

The adventure cumulates with two days spent exploring the prehistoric Ngorongoro Crater. The dense rainforest of the crater walls explodes out onto the vast plains and reservoirs of the crater floor, which teem with the resident wildlife. With the opportunity to explore intimately the region on foot under the leadership of a local guide, guests will be able to connect with the intricacies of this remarkable ecosystem, leaving Africa both more knowledgeable and more inspired.

Tanzania Travel Review: Serengeti, Great Migration, Safari Experience, Big Five, Ngorongoro Crater, 1-Week Tour

Communication with our Zicasso travel team was fantastic. They were very responsive to all questions and calmed any concerns we had.

We were met at the airport by our travel agent, who was our guide for the week. He was amazing! He ensured we had the best experience possible – we traveled and explored on our schedule, making sure we saw all the animals and sights we wanted to see.

The Serengeti was everything I imagined it would be. The plains were alive with all kinds of animals, and watching the cheetahs, lions, and leopards hunting was magical. We didn’t see them catch anything, but it was still fantastic to see them in action.

We were there during a drought, so the Great Migration hadn't started yet, but it started raining and we saw thousands of animals gathering to start their long trek. It was a beautiful sight.

Our agent did his best to ensure we saw the Big Five – elephant, leopard, buffalo, lion, and rhino, and we managed to see four of them on our first day out in the Serengeti. We had to wait until the last day in the Ngorongoro Crater to see a rhino, but it was worth the wait.

It was the best vacation I have ever had and our travel agent was a big reason why.

Thank you to our travel team!

Tanzania Vacation Review: Ngorongoro Crater, Zanzibar, Hot-Air Balloon Ride, Private Guide, 10 Nights

Our African safari, organized by Zicasso’s tour company and its agent, was a trip of a lifetime. Their partnering with the local travel company was absolutely brilliant. Our guide was of the highest quality that could have been expected.

The accommodations at the Ngorongoro Crater were amazing. The other accommodations were a bit more rustic, but they seemed perfectly located for our safaris.

We would not recommend the "walk" to the elephant caves without more disclosure about the difficulty of the trek and the footwear required. We were not thrilled with the visit to the Maasai village. We felt taken advantage of. We would have preferred a visit to a village where our participation was more authentic and where we did not get a high-pressure sales pitch.

Booking the hot-air balloon ride with the chosen company was an excellent choice. We have come back with so many memories of our time in Tanzania (including our stay in Zanzibar). We would highly recommend our travel company and agent to anyone considering an African safari.

We had a very good travel experience with Zicasso's tour company. Our travel agent was organized and responsive to our requests before the trip, and he stayed in communication with us throughout the trip. We traveled as a couple and were delighted with the intimate and comfortable safari camp and the luxurious city and Diani Beach accommodations. Our guides in the cities and in the Maasai Mara National Reserve were knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, it was a great experience.
