Detailed Description

You have traveled with the characters of Downton Abbey from 1912 to 1925 and felt completely absorbed in their world. The scenery has been majestic, filled with noble castles and the lush, secluded countryside. The staff ensured that the finer details of the day were addressed. From the opulent family dinners to the exceptional clothing, gossip-filled kitchens to quaint churches, you have felt as much a part of the Crawley family as one of Lord Grantham’s daughters. Your nine-day Downton Abbey tribute tour allows you to relive the magic of Downton Abbey, faithfully following in the footsteps of the entire series.

Your tour begins with your arrival in London. The city has an embracing energy that you quickly settle into. Your private transfer escorts you from the airport to your exquisite accommodation at St. Ermin’s Hotel, located in the heart of the city. In the afternoon, your driver takes you to the Ritz London for afternoon tea. You picture the moment when Lady Edith enters the restaurant and dines with her aunt. The following day, your knowledgeable guide leads you on a private England tour of the various filming locations throughout London. Visit St. Pancras Station, where Lady Edith meets her suitor.

Stroll along Belgrave Square and the charming neighborhood of Notting Hill. Follow in the evening strolls of the Crawley women in Lincoln Inn Fields. Your tour ends after indulging in the opulent décor of the Lancaster House, which doubled as Buckingham Palace. The next day, you can delight in London at your preferred pace, taking your time to absorb the beauty and culture of the city before indulging an elegant lunch at the Criterion Restaurant. Your private transfer leads you south to Horsted Keynes Station, the actual location of fictional Downton Station. Continue to Goodwood Circuit and race along the Brooklands Race Track of Season Six. Then, travel north to breathtaking Highclere Castle, the iconic backdrop of Downton Abbey.

Your local guide leads you on an exquisite tour of the estate, where you can view the lavish rooms, opulent décor, treasured history, and majestic connection to Downton. Your day continues in Bampton Village, also known as Downton Village, where the enchanting streets highlight various scenes throughout the series, including the church where Lady Mary and Matthew were married. In the evening, you relax in the luxuries of the Swan Inn, where Lady Sybil and Tom Branson once stayed. Enjoy the following morning in Basildon Park in Berkshire. The interior was used as the Grantham family’s London residence. Once at Greys Court, you stroll along the quiet, aristocratic estate that almost became the home of Lord and Lady Grantham when the selling of Downton Abbey was imminent.

You return to London in the late afternoon and settle back into the comfortable setting of St. Ermin’s Hotel. Next, you venture northbound on a scenic train ride to Newcastle. Your driver meets you at the station and leads you to Alnwick Castle, which served as the home of Bertie Pelham and which was featured in the Season Six finale. After your tour, you make your way to Edinburgh, Scotland on a fabulous train ride for a night at the luxurious Victorian Balmoral hotel. After breakfast, you travel to Inveraray Castle in Argyll to explore the noble manor and discover a connection to the Christmas Special of Season Three before arriving in Glasgow. On your final day, your private transfer greets you in the hotel lobby and escorts you to the airport for your flight home.

Ireland, Scotland, England Family Trip Review: Edinburgh,...

Zicasso's trip planner worked with my family for the better part of a year planning our big family trip. She provided exceptional service and planned every detail of our trip. We have a large family, with lots of moving parts. There were many changes in the itinerary along the way and she rolled with all the many changes. She was always polite, courteous, and graceful in her many interactions with our family.

She listened carefully during our initial conversations to help us plan the best trip possible. Being a large family, with multiple generations, she really created the best possible experience, taking in everyone's wishes. Working with her was very relieving, knowing she was taking care of all the details.

Our family's trip took us from the States to Ireland, Scotland, and England. We traveled on planes, trains, ferry, and drove a car. Our trip planner arranged every detail meticulously. We stayed in lovely, quaint, boutique hotels, ate the most wonderful foods, saw the amazing sights, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites across all three countries. From the Cliffs of Moher to the Culloden Moor Memorial to Stonehenge to castles grand and desolate; from beautiful cathedrals to old abbey ruins; from little country pubs to Michelin-starred restaurants; and even spending a couple days in an actual 17th-century castle, every minute was amazing! Truly amazing!
