A Journey Through French Canada and the Maritimes

Quebec, Canada.

What to expect on this itinerary

Embark on a 10-day journey that moves from the French-language streets and serious kitchens of Montréal through the walled city of Québec, across to the red-clay shores of Prince Edward Island, and down to the salt-worn harbor of Halifax. This is the oldest face of Canada: French-speaking cities built in stone, a red-clay island in the Atlantic, and a harbor town shaped by its surroundings.

Day 1

Montréal - Walk the Plateau and Eat on Saint-Laurent

Welcome to Montréal. After you settle into your hotel, step outside and breathe in the air carrying the particular urban aroma of coffee, warm asphalt, and bread from the boulangeries that seem to occupy every other corner. The conversations around you slide easily between French and English. This evening belongs to the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighborhood, where the cafés fill up slowly and Saint-Laurent Boulevard offers a plate of smoked meat at Schwartz's, the brisket having been cured for 10 days. It arrives pink and peppery, piled high on rye.

Canada Tour Review: Quebec, Montreal, Sugar Shack, 1 Week

The private tour professionals were knowledgeable and professional. We learned a great deal about Canada from them. The hotel accommodations were excellent, especially our hotel in Montreal. The ground transportation professionals were punctual and their vehicles were clean and late-model automobiles. Our trip to the Sugar Shack was wonderful, as well as the lunch that was served to us. Most of all, Zicasso's travel specialist obviously took care in booking for us a memorable trip.

Canada Travel Review: Montmorency Falls, Ile d'Orleans, Food Tour, History, 9-Day Tour

We really enjoyed our trip to Canada! We loved the historical walks we scheduled in each city. It is a great way to get to know more about the area you are in and get ideas for further exploration. Our guides were knowledgeable and very open to questions. We also really enjoyed the food tours we went on in each city. It was fun to learn about the food of the region and sample things along the way.

I can't say enough positive things about the activities that were arranged for us and the flexibility Zicasso’s tour company showed. The things we planned were exactly what we had asked for and led to further activities that we selected. We hope to go back again.

Canada Vacation Review: Canadian Rockies, Jasper, Lake Louise, Icefields, Glacier Hiking, Whitewater Rafting, 10 Days

Zicasso's travel specialist did an excellent job creating a memorable trip for me and my daughter to the Canadian Rockies. She was extremely responsive and flexible, which allowed us to choose activities we both enjoyed. We especially loved Jasper and our lodge there. The views in the Canadian Rockies are almost unreal and the variety of conditions at different locations was unbelievable. For example, one day we were rafting on a river in Jasper and the next we were hiking on a glacier!

We missed our first scheduled trip to the Icefields due to unexpected traffic from Lake Louise, but our specialist was kind enough to reschedule us on our way back from Jasper to Banff. I will definitely use Zicasso for future travel. Thank you so very much!
