We had a great trip and the travel agency put together a great package of hotels and experiences for us. Further, the agency did a great job of steering us through the whole COVID mess over the 18 months it took to reschedule our trip from 2020 when the pandemic hit. We felt the travel agency was always there for us to answer our questions and meet our needs.Show More
We wanted to go on a family trip to Italy this Summer to celebrate our 20th Anniversary, and had budgeted a significant amount of money to have a great trip ($35k-$40k). It was very important to us that we get our money's worth. Hilary specializes in trips to Italy, and after speaking with her about our rough travel plans, we felt that she would help us make the most of the time and money we were spending. She built us a fantastic itinerary that enabled us to see 4 major cities (Venice, Florence, Rome and Positano) in a way that we never felt rushed or bored. We are a family with three teenagers who definitely didn't want to just browse museums. Hilary supplied plenty of interactive fun activities (i.e. cooking class in Florence, large full day boat trip off the Amalfi coast, glass bottom kayaking with cave exploration, motor boat tour of Venice canals, food tour in Rome, etc.) The accommodations she chose were fantastic as well -- all of the hotels were right in the middle of the places we wanted to explore. The staff at the hotels Hilary picked were extremely hospitable and helpful with finding any transportation we needed. Hilary was also able to find us private transport between cities in Italy -- the drivers were all friendly, punctual, and spoke English. We really have no complaints -- the itinerary was very well thought through and flowed extremely well.Show More
We are several weeks past the return from our trip, but we are not out of raves for the entire experience. We asked for a highly customized trip to visit the great old libraries of the world across several mid-European countries and were richly rewarded by the excellent transportation, drivers, and guides provided by the travel company. This was a fabulous and life-affirming experience. It would not have been possible without the careful planning and research done by our travel planner and his colleagues at this travel company. The hotels that were arranged were central and convenient in the cities in which we stayed and their personnel were friendly and incredibly helpful, adding to the enjoyment of our trip. Food recommendations, especially a food tour that was booked for us in Prague, were spectacular. Given our focal interest in centuries-old libraries and literature, the planner and his crew found top-notch experts in each location who deepened our understanding of the incredible edifices we toured and their histories. Then, especially in route from Prague to Vienna, we must exclaim about the beautiful alpine scenery and small towns. Noting that we were also very interested in nature, our driver-guide detoured to take us to mountain locations that were personal favorites of his. Spectacular! It’s simply difficult to say how much we enjoyed this trip in every detail.Show More
This travel company was terrific. They took my ideas for what I was looking for and fleshed it out and presented me with an itinerary in a wonderful fashion that let me investigate choices of small tours, trips, dining, and other possibilities to enhance my experience. The format using their online platform was terrific and easy (print versions always offered too) and let me modify my plan until it seemed just right. Also, the tours that I chose were 100% positive; great guides and NO so-so experiences. All were unique, interesting, and enabled me to see, learn about, and be where I wanted to be. My vacation was a multi-city/multi-country tour, and the connections and time allotted to each place were perfect. Finally, I still had the flexibility to change it up along my route as my trip evolved. My in-tour contact let me feel supported and kept track of during my trip, but never intrusively.Show More
Our family planned a German ski vacation about a year ago and looked to Zicasso as our guide. The suggestions made by our travel planner (this travel team) and his German team made the trip one we will always remember! We did experience some issues with the planned guides, but we resolved them without deterring from the enjoyment of the day and our planner made it right at the end of the trip. The Garmisch area we visited and the quaint villages we traveled through on our way to Innsbruck were truly awesome to experience. It was just what we hoped for, and we received such personalized service that we will use Zicasso again. We highly recommend this travel planner for anyone's German adventures!the S. FamilyShow More

Our travel planner did a fine job of identifying places to stay and explore in Switzerland. She also arranged for premium Swiss rail passes which were very beneficial for train travel but also beneficial for entering museums, riding ferries, and taking buses. She also introduced us to AXUS, an app that held our itinerary, rail pass, hotel information, schedules, and much more. In addition, all the drivers drove clean comfortable vehicles and were exceptionally courteous, and friendly.
Our first stay was in the small town of Thun which we got to by private, prearranged car. We stayed in a castle on a hill. There was a nice gift of local artisan chocolates waiting for us. Devaki arranged a dinner for our first night which was good but the main course, meat, was stringy and not very tasty which made it a less than enjoyable meal. We felt bad that we spoke no German, as the waitstaff spoke no English. I wouldn't stay there again. The castle is good to visit but the rooms, which are hyper-modern, lacked the expected charm and ambiance. The other big drawback to the hotel was the lack of decent wi-fi and as a result, we couldn't access any of the AXUS information.
Actually, we had counted on referring to the Lonely Planet Tour Guide book included in AXUS throughout the trip, but without portable wifi access such as that which was provided with the tour of Portugal you arranged for us in 2018, the online book was useless as we attempted to locate and learn about various sites. We didn't print the material she recommended so couldn't read that either. Next time, we'll either get portable wifi included somehow or just buy a book!
While in Thun we visited Lauterbrunnen and Bern. Both were outstanding. We wondered why we didn't stay in large, fascinating Bern instead of Thun, reversing the day trip itinerary. In Lauterbrunnen, which would have been easily accessed by Bern, Devaki told us to see the waterfall in the center of town. But we discovered the Trummelbach Falls and the funicular & train to the Eiger Hotel and the highest spot (James Bond & Eiger Sanction) in Switzerland on our own. They were probably in the book we couldn't access. Back in Thun, we had a tour guide the next day, Corrine, whom we liked very much, and she did a wonderful job of showing us historic Thun and making such and dinner reservations.
From Thun, we took the train to Lucerne where we stayed at a fine hotel with a view of the lake. We had a guide, Luis, who was scheduled for a two-and-a-half-hour guided tour. He walked us uphill to the historic wall of Lucerne, through some odd places to a hotel at the top of a hill. The tour did not cover the center of Lucerne or the historic bridges. We were very disappointed and he cut it short by almost thirty minutes. It was a very strange tour and I wouldn't recommend that guide to anyone. We wonder if he's licensed since we saw so many professional tour guides taking people to the Medieval places we had to see on our own after the exhausting hike to a hotel from the 1800s. All very strange. From what we discovered on our own, we loved Lucerne. Thanks to Devaki's arrangements, we worked with the hotel to make an appointment for a COVID test for our travel back to the U.S.
From Lucerne, we took the train to Geneva where we were met by a driver to take us to our elegant hotel, which we loved, for our last night in Switzerland. We had tea around 4:30 which was really, really good. After tea, we walked along the lake. The next morning we were met by an arranged driver who took us to the airport. He actually went the extra mile and took our bags to the check-in desk for KLM.
Overall we had a great Switzerland experience and Devaki made some fine arrangements that made our travels easy.

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how FABULOUS our vacation was, thanks to our travel consultant. Her meticulous attention to detail, meeting our interests/agenda was extraordinary. What a joyful gathering we had! Separated by COVID and geography for almost 1.5 years, Grammy & my son’s family (2-year-old granddaughter) met in Switzerland for two weeks.
WOW! was my first impression of the breathtaking proposed itinerary (and that was just the proposal). Our travel consultant's organization, step-by-step detail and follow-up was key to our success. Planning wasn’t easy for her because of the frequently changing COVID regulations and the need to coordinate travelers gathering from Italy and USA. She was persistent and patient as we tweaked the final details of the itinerary. I emailed or spoke with her by phone almost daily for about two weeks, and she always responded with up-beat messages such as; “That’s OK”, “No problem” or “I’ll look into that and send you an email later today”. Receiving updates or check-ins during our trip was wonderful and seemed above-and-beyond, but I suspect that is just the service she gives all her clients.
Our hotel accommodations were amazing. Each was unique and perfectly located for our interests. The Swiss Travel Pass was the way to go. It covered almost every piece of our journey. It also covered museums and offered discounts on several activities or private transportation.
Everything went very smoothly, even when the weather was rainy for days (the record flooding European rains of July 2021). Unexpected cancellation of train routes or planned activities were no problem. We are so-o-o appreciative of the immediate response providing alternate routes and proposing alternate activities. Wonderful suggestions were provided for activities during “on your own” time.
Our guides in Lucerne, Lausanne, Geneva and Zurich were all terrific! Each knew their city well and adjusted our tour to meet our interest. One even stopped at a playground in Geneva when my granddaughter became impatient.
I had not traveled in Europe for 35+ years. We needed and received intensely detailed directions and timetables. All were greatly appreciated. All my questions were addressed, including tipping advice, scheduling a COVID test for my return to the USA, safety during the days I traveled alone, and so many more.
If and when we return to Europe, this tour company will be our first contact for planning our excursion. With great appreciation.
